This place makes me feel good 9/12/2009

The Lakehouse has become my go to place. The food has been consistenty good, its right on the lake with a nice view, and has large outside deck seating under big oak trees. The staff is always friendly and takes good care of me. My favorite dishes are the Southwest Eggs Benedict, and Papas Fritas for Brunch, and the Coyote Chicken for dinner. You can tell that this place is working to create something different, and so far has delivered. The Lakehouse is a great ""Oasis"" in this area, surrounded only by other restaurants that are either sub par, or geared towards the drinking crowd who like simple foods. It?s one of those rare places where you can go to experience something more than just an ordinary meal? it offers an environment that can rejuvenate your spirit after a long week. Can't afford to waste any more money 9/8/2009

I can't afford to eat here. Maybe that's what they want. They want to keep me away. The last couple times we did go there, the food was terrible and no one cared. I told them, but they shrugged it off. I don't usually make a fuss. I just don't go back. So, I haven't, & I won't. Sorry. But then again, not really... Pros: It's convenient to where I live Cons: I've wasted too much money trying this place out over & over more

Grilled Chicken Sandwich 12.95 Grilled Cheese & Pesto 10.95 Fresh Baked Sourdough toasted with melted cheese, tomato and pesto Briarcliff Burger 10.95 Served open face with lettuce, tomato, red onion and pickle Three reason why i will not eat here are you kidding me??? Outstanding 8/4/2009

The food at the Lakehouse Cafe never fails to rank with the best anywhere in Austin. On a recent visit, we were pleasantly surprised by renovations and really good live music - which only added to the great views out over the lake and the warm service we have come to expect. Worst experience anywhere 5/27/2008

Worst service I've ever experienced. Our waiter did try his best but the kitchen staff is obviously about as competent at their job as a monkey is at being a surgeon. Everything takes forever. Even the bar drinks took too long, something like 20 mins for a beer. Ridiculous. The owner/manager is the rudest, meanest person I have ever had the mispleasure of meeting. The food is average with over the top prices. I do not recommend this place. Don't go there, it truly is not worth it. more

Hands down the Best place on the lake. Food is reasonably priced given the quality of the food and the fresh ingredients. I have thoroughly enojyed everything I have ordered at Lakehouse. You might want to try one of their specials or something off the regular menu: Coyote chicken, southwest chicken salad, Maggie's Migas. Deserts are made on site, daily and are well....the bomb. Service continues to impress -- they are attentive, fun and professional. The lake views on the expansive deck make a great dining experience. The short drive is well worth it. We went to lake house cafe and were amazed by the improved service and the food was mouth watering! The view was great and we loved that we could sit inside or outside and still see the view! This will be one of our regular stops on the lake now! Pros: best lake food Cons: a little drive more

Buger King would be a better bet!!!!!! 9/1/2007

If they have a so called chef that works there I would love to know were he learned to cook; I have never eaten such food with a lack of flavor!!!!!! If he thinks he has a trained palet that is pleasing people while they are eating there thats not the case. You are better off buting a 2.00 tv dinner because that is the equal to the chefs skills of cooking and for the service your better off with sonic. Don't waste your time on the drive the waste of gas is by far not worth what your going to get!!!! The owners there have no idea what they are doing people don't want you at there table every five minutes to check on things while they are eating it's like having a five year old asking are we there yet on a car ride leave it up to your servers and go in your office or go home.....!!!!!! This place has a nice view, but that's all. We had a terrible experience. Bad food, bad service, overpriced. The manager was especially unprofessional, and we will definitely not return. Don't waste your time or money here. Pros: decent view Cons: terrible over-priced food, bad margaritas more

We had the best time last weekend at the Lakehouse Cafe. We had no idea this place was so good. The food was amazing and we loved sitting out on the deck watching the boats go by. This is by far the best food on Lake Travis. more

Drunk Customers? 11/10/2006

I don't know about you, but when I read a review about a restaurant I am trying to learn about the restaurant and not hear someone using this site as their personal blog to vent their frustrations. Clearly the Lakehouse Cafe is not for everyone, but if you are looking for an alternative place to enjoy a nice meal that hopefully people like Sarah 1223 won't go than this is it. This is a family place and NOT a Drunk's hangout. Pros: Great food Cons: NOT for Drunks more

Don't waste your money here. The food is bland and the service is worse. Waiters are rude and it takes forever to get your food. You can get a much better view of the lake from the side of the road. It's not worth the drive! Cons: Unfriendly atmosphere, slow service, long drive more

This place is TERRIBLE! The staff is rude and that goes for the manager/owner also. He has a lot to learn about customer service if he expects this place to survive. Great Lake Experience 3/10/2004

If you are out to have a great dining experience on lake travis where the atmosphere ranges from romantic to family-friendly, this is the place. The food is wonderful, the staff warm and welcoming, and the view is terrific. Unlike most spots on lake travis, the prices are reasonable and the tone is soothing and relaxing. I would highly recommend the short drive down highway 71 to experience this perfect spot on the lake. Pros: Reasonably priced, Friendly stafff, wonderful atmosphere more

Stay away 2/15/2004

I went at night on Valentine's Day. What a letdown. Order from chalkboard. Granted, it was dark, but I saw absolutely no spectacular view that is claimed. No music, poorly lit interior. Parking lot is not paved, it is gravel with cracks and crevices in it. You will be lucky to find 10 people inside. So far from Austin+hard to find, lots of steep hills and curves with no lighting, it's scary. I paid 40 dollars for small, forgettable grilled chicken and steak meals. I was hungry two hours later. Plastic cups were used. Avoid this place like the plague, go to The Oasis for an experience. Pros: Fairly nice staff, Quiet, Hilly Cons: , Far, Ugly more
