BEST SPA SERVICE IN NYC! 6/7/2010

I can rarely afford Spa Services and treatments so when I do budget them, I make sure to do my research. A friend had recommended La Vie Zen to me about a year ago and I had yet to try it, though it was on my list. I finally budgeted for a (thorough) waxing and a facial. The woman at the front desk, Carmen- I believe she is one of the managers- was excellent re. customer service. (Make sure to ask for Carmen when you go!!!) She immediately made me feel at home in the tranquil environment, got my robe and slippers and offered me some tea. I was taken immediately into the waxing service which was done EXPERTLY! I felt I was in good hands. Next was on to the facial. I felt really comfortable and the facialist and I had a great conversation reg. products for me, my skin type, etc. The best was the relaxation room afterward. My name was on a place card next to a fresh tea and nuts!! I could have stayed all day. My skin looks beautiful. I will go back, again and again. Thank you La Vie Zen!!! more

A gem in the middle of NYC 6/6/2010

I've been to La Vie Zen a few times -- for massages (signature) and a mani/pedi. The spa gives you a locker with a robe & slippers to change into, and then some tea & snacks while you wait for your service. Michelle was my massage therapist and she first asked if I was there because of pain, or for relaxation/pampering. The massage was customized to my needs (I had some shoulder and back pain), and she made sure I was comfortable the entire time - also turning down the heat as I got a little too hot on the table. Afterwards I was taken to a room overlooking Madison avenue to relax and drink more tea. I never felt rushed in any way and everyone is very nice and friendly. One note: the vitamin C facial ($30) is an add-on to their regular massage. I don't get massages very often so maybe this is common knowledge, but i thought the brochure or price list should specify that it is an add-on treatment. My mom and sister have come here for facials before and they both loved it. The prices are comparable to other spas in nyc, but the service is what sets the place apart. Since it's located across the street from my office, I stopped by one afternoon to obtain information and possibly schedule an appointment. I was greeted by Carmen, at the front desk. In this case, it is true what they say about "first impressions". She made such a positive impression that I booked my appointment for the following week- sugar scrub body treatment. They allow you to choose from 3 flavors/scents. I choose the berry sugar scrub. Mariana was friendly, thorough and not too *chatty* during the service. The treatment room was comfortably warm, and while it took Mariana a few minutes to set the vichy shower to a warm enough temperature, I was very pleased with my service and will be back. Oh, at the reception area there are two kinds of sweet treats: sugary, hardened, kiwi slices and thick plaintain pieces (both delish!!) Pros: Tranquil setting, friendly staff, reasonable prices more

Much Needed Tranquillity! 5/26/2010

I walked into the La Vie Zen Spa stressed and in much need of a relaxing day at the spa. I was greeted by a very friendly woman by the name of Carmen, who escorted me to the waiting area with a cup of tea and sun-dried raisins awaiting me. I started my visit with a facial custom for my skin type and a special mask for my acne prone skin. The facial was fabulous. Then I received a full body message, which I was a little apprehensive about (not even my dog sees me topless), but the staff is so professional and the aromatherapy eased my stress away. Zen indeed! 4/26/2010

I visited La Vie Zen for the first time for a facial with Elena. As soon as I walked in I felt relaxed and calm. It is such a beautiful tranquil place its hard to believe you are amidst crazy streets of the city. I was early for my appointment and wonderful stuff members made sure I was taken care of while waiting. I was invited to a relaxation lounge where I was offered a cup of delicious tea. Now on to facial, it was absolutely wonderful, Elena has the most wonderful tender hands, she explained everything every step of the way, gave great tips how to take care of my skin and also advices on cosmetics to use. Needless to say I will be back to this little paradise again! more

very relaxing environment and great massage 4/24/2010

heard a lot about this spa previously and finally got to try it out this afternoon. got a targeted massage and it was very customized and Malissa definitely has great hands. Love the midtown location too coz it's so close to my work place too. The cozy environment and the accommodating decorations are all plus too. I have lived in New York for almost 13 years and consider myself a well versed New Yorker in the ways of fashion and spas. They are my addiction. This spa....is on my speed dial! My little oasis in this fantastic crazy place where everything is at your fingertips. La VIe Zen gets it. They really understand the city they are in and have the luxury treatment (at prices that can keep you as a regular) down to an art. Every experience I have had here has been professional & RELAXING, and my time is valued!! I have never been kept waiting....or rushed! You will walk out with a new you - new skin, new long unwound muscles, beautiful nails. And a "pop in" is usually no problem. Their customer service is great. OH and for those of you new (and old) to waxing...try Irina. The best experience you can have with what I consider a most painful beauty treatment. She's super fast & keeps you so wonderfully distracted that you are done before you know it! With GREAT results. BEST spa in nyc! 12/14/2009

I moved to NYC three years ago and learned quickly that I NEED a facial and massage every couple of months to survive here! I found La Vie Zen through a friend's suggestion and tried it. I am hooked!! By far it's the friendliest, prettiest spa I've been in to date. The woman who did my facial (gotta learn her name?!) was so soothing and my skin is shining, two weeks later. The massage was just right for my body type and muscles- and I usually don't like hard massages so this was just the right pressure. I was ushered into a 'green room' to have some hot tea afterward and sat for a half hour, by myself, unbothered, so relaxed, I almost fell asleep! Perfect Manhattan Oasis! 12/10/2009

What a terrific oasis from the busy city streets of Manhattan. I received a gift certificate for a Men's Grooming Facial and absolutely loved my entire experience. The staff was delightful. I have gone back and have gotten the signature massage! It was the best hour of my day! From the moment you step into La Vie Zen, until you finished up relaxing in their Bamboo room, you feel right at home, right at ease and it truly is a perfect Manhattan get-away! don't go lasting pain!!! 7/28/2009

it has been a year i was given back pain by my massuse - i have never had back pain before i still have it I am terrified to get it fixed i'm worried someone will make it worse- when i used to bend over sometimes it felt like someone was poking my insides with a knife i am so angry !!!!!! she was a young women i don't remember her name when she was doing it i remember feeling like she kept pushing inward instead of out ward and it was horrible. My boyfriend and I went to La Vie Zen on Valentine's Day this year and we loved it!! We felt like the were only people in the spa. It was so relaxing and private. I would 100% recommended. We started in the clean and modern locker rooms, slipped on a lux robe and slippers and enjoyed the waiting area with dried nuts/fruit and lemon infused water. Then we had our treatments (Cupid's Rendezvous 60 min couples massage and a 30 min facial for $300) We were in the same room for the couples massage and separate rooms for the facial. In truth, we went there b/c I procrastinated and this was one of the only places that still had availability on Vday. But we LOVED it and will 100% go back. I found the prices better than most places. My boyfriend loved his massage, mine could have been better but the overall place was so nice that we both want to go back. It was Very relaxing. Very romantic. Very personalized. Oh . . and we left with a free goodie bag with coupons to return! We will be back! Pros: They don't rush you, they care about the details Cons: None! more

Terrible service and treatment 10/17/2008

I would definitely not recommend this spa. Came here last night for spa week and was given a wet robe to wear. My facial was only okay especially since the products they were using smelled terribled. The facialist had put a timer on while I was getting the facial so I couldnt' even relax if I wanted to. My friend also came with me, but since she was 10 min late for her appointment, she was told that she can only do the massage treatment for 15 min rather than the full 45 due to her lateness and if she chose to not do the treatment, she will still be charged anyway. Not only was the receptionist really rude about this, she did not even try to accommodate her in any way. There are so many other spas in NYC and I've been to others for spa week. This one was the only time that I had experienced bad service like this. Pros: N/A Cons: service, treatment, and sanitary more

The very best customer service and place to relax 12/24/2007

I have been to this spa several times. Not only do they run the best specials during spa week and the holidays, they take incredible care to make certain that each client is relaxed. When you enter, you are presented with tea or water and a healthy snack. The staff is kind and wonderful and the services are even better. There is no excuse not to go to this spa where you can sit in a private room sip your tea and forget you are in the heart of Manhattan, all for a reasonable price--probably the best in the City. The most incredible Zen Experience 8/20/2007

From the moment I stepped off the elevator I felt I had entered a different, better world. The atmosphere, ambience and peaceful and beautiful surroundings elevated my mood and expectyations. The service and experience did not disappoint. I was treated by the staff as a welcomed guest, treated to tea and chocolats and gently led to the specialists. The facials are glorious and i continue to glow when I think about it. Manicures, pedciures all performed with higest expertise. I will return for other offerings including massage and waxing. It is a special world away from the chaos of Manhattan. It is the only place I will now go to. I have been thoroughly spoiled and plan to stay that way. I have been to this spa several times for an array of treatments and each experience seems to be better than the last. As soon as you walk in you are taken aback by the serene atmosphere. The staff is very friendly, accommadating, and helpful. I purchased a series treatment package with Robyn, who may be one of the best massage therapists I have ever been with. She has magic hands! Everytime I have been there I've been treated with the utmost respect. After each treatment you are escorted into a relaxation room where the staff serves you delicious herbal teas and fruit. My favorite relaxation room is the "Bamboo Room". Another great thing about La Vie Zen is that the staff never rushes you. They welcome you to stay as long as you would like. They provide the ideal atmosphere to escape the daily stresses of Manhattan. I highly recommend this spa and have referred several of my friends. My boyfriend and I went for spa week for a couple?s massage. However, they don?t have couple?s room, there must have been a miscommunication when I made the reservations. But even with the slight mishap the spa and staff more than made up for that. First, we were shown to the show/locker room to shower and robe. Then we were shown to a side waiting room where we were served tea and light snack of chocolate covered raisins and cranberries and nuts. We then each went into our separate rooms for our massage afterwards we were shown to a private room to relax and spend time together. Again we were served tea and snack. We were left alone for about 30 minutes and then were offered more tea which we accepted and stayed another 30 minutes. It was really wonderful to unwind after the massage and were not kicked out immediately. The service, ambiance, facilities and treatment were all first-class, everything was impeccable. We even bought another massage package that evening which we?re using this week! Pros: ambiance, staff Cons: none more
