Outdated d??cor & Dirty!! 5/18/2009

When I first walked in the place smelled like am old mom & pops place, however my boyfriend and I brushed that off! We were there for colonics and floats, I went first to do my float, one, they ask you to use sponges that a million other people use...of course I did not! Second, the float area looked very rusty around certain areas and the water was cold & looked like it wasn't changed at all! Third, my boyfriend waited for his colonic by reception where a ups guy, and other people came in...he had on just a robe!! Everything seemed very unclean to me, I wish we listened to some of the reviews for I now have a rash on my arm. Please DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! more

Great Colonic w/Sharon Stone 3/13/2009

I'd had a colonic at another place that had not been pleasant. I was fairly certain didn't care to try again, until a friend made me promise to go see Sharon. I can only say that I wish I'd gone to see her sooner. Sharon suggested that we proceed as though it was my first time. First she explained the entire procedure to me, thoroughly and with gentle good humor, even anticipating the questions I felt a little shy to ask. Her manner was so caring, thorough, kind and professional, that I began to realize I was in good, knowledgeable hands and felt myself start to relax. When we proceeded to the actual colonic, Sharon's therapeutic touch helped me through the procedure. She kept up a gentle conversation, reminding me when to breath, and educating me about my body, and opening my mind to thinking about incorporating nutritional changes into my everyday life. The last establishment I had visited pushed me to buy all sorts of supplements that I wasn't sure I needed. Sharon's ""less is more"" approach felt more right for me. I have returned for two more sessions, followed her advice about simple sensible approaches to food, and lifestyle, and have experienced real and positive changes in how my colon functions, not to mention my skin looking more clear and vibrant. I plan to bring my mother with me to see Sharon the next time. Do yourself a favor and book an appointment with her as soon as you can! I'll never go to anyone else. Pros: Great Therapist Cons: Cranky guy at front desk more

Bad Colonic 3/3/2009

When I was looking for the best colonic in NYC, I came across La Casa. So I expected good service. However, my therapist not only came in late, she wasn't friendly, and rushed me for her next client. After going elsewhere, I would never come back here. more

Ear Infection---Do not take antibiotics!! Take ozone! 1/11/2009

I woke up at 4 a.m. with serious discomfort in my ear. Actually, it was more like serious itching. I had never had an ear infection or any ear problem in my life so what could this be? Thoughts of trying to find a doctor and paying outrageous bills were racing through my mind. I don't have insurance. It's a double edged sword because it is a major hindrance when I really need a doctor, but on the other hand it keeps me away from them! I googled my symptoms and realized it was swimmer's ear?funny I barely swim. The cause is bacteria and fungi. Of course everything online says to treat swimmer's ear with antibiotics. I ran across just a few homeopathic remedies one of which called for drops of equal parts rubbing alcohol and acetic acid (plain vinegar). But first I called La Casa because they are one of the few places that offer ozone. They informed me that ozone kills germs-perfect for nasty ear bacteria. I did a 15 minute treatment and immediately I felt much better. The itchiness was gone. It did come back, but not for another ten hours or so and never as intense as the night before. The next day I did the homeopathic drops twice and the third day another 15 minutes of ozone to get rid of any last bacteria. My ear is back to normal, no itching and when I press on it no tenderness. I don't know if the ozone alone was responsible for my recovery but it did provide instant relief. The ozone combined with the drops was 100% effective. No hassle, no antibiotics, no doctor's fees?..just cheap, fast and easy! Pros: The treatment itself more

A Soothing and Restorative Experience Not to be Missed 10/3/2008

As soon as I walked in the door I could feel the stress start draining from my body as I took in the tropical ambience and fresh scent of the lobby. My day of pleasure started with a massage unlike any I have had before. Starting out gentle and slowly going deeper and deeper until every knot of stress simply dissolved away-it was amazing. I've had massages at places that only do massage that didn't come close to my massage at La Casa. Next, I luxuriated in the Float room. What an amazing experience that was. Floating on the water was the most relaxing thing I've ever done. I felt like I was one with the water and it was an incredible feeling. I did it for the detox benefits but loved it for the feeling of weightlessness and freedom my body enjoyed. I finished my day of pleasure with a facial that left my skin unbelievably soft and smooth-I never looked so young and so radiant! If you do nothing else for yourself, you must give yourself the rejuvenating gift of La Casa Day Spa. Pros: Experienced, caring, nurturing, lovely ambience Cons: I live an hour away more

It?s great to leave La Casa feeling so pampered and step out into NYC so centered and renewed with the whole city on my fingertips 10/2/2008

My visit exceeded my expectations by several light-years (and that?s how quickly the experience seemed to go by ? way too fast). I started my day with a great massage, I was completely in the now and forgot myself, and let my problems melt away. Then I went for two detox therapies: the pedi-detox ? and the oxygen steam bath. What came out of my feet from the pedi-detox was not to be believed ? but Dr. Goldberg (the owner of La Casa and their ambassador of good will and health) assured me that EVERYONE discharges lots of toxicity through their feet ? apparently because the feet have large pores through which toxins can be released. She said it was a great treatment for releasing excess mucous as well as heavy metals. The steam bath was pleasant enough. More importantly, I came out feeling cleansed like never before. And then onward and upward a to sheer blissful experience: the FLOAT. I didn't know about the FLOAT when I made the appointment, it is the best reason to come back and you have to try it! It seems like a cross between the Dead Sea and my oversized bath-tub. I thought it was about 5 minutes when I heard the gentle rapping ? but it turned out, it had been 55 minutes since I had first stepped in. It?s great to leave La Casa feeling so pampered and step out into NYC so centered and renewed with the whole city on my fingertips. I recommend this spa fully to all that need the usual (massage, colonics) and the total spa experience you never knew you could have. Pros: Ambience, parking, transporting array of treatments. Cons: I live in Massachusetts, 2.5 hours from NY more

Great place for colonics 6/4/2008

This is a great place if you are looking to espace the busy streets of ny then this is the place to go to. if you are getting a colonic make sure you book your appointment with sharon, she is great she makes this ""embarassing"" experience very comfortable. Pros: Sharon Cons: a weird receptionist.. more

best colonic of all time!! 5/25/2008

Highly recommend...I'm totally hooked now! I have had one colonic before and it was so so...this time I was totally comfortable b/c of the atmosphere in the spa and the experience of the therapist. I felt sooo much better afterwards and I have been back three times since. more

pleasure, pleasure & more pleasure 5/23/2008

Ready, set, go and you don't want to stop; it's that good an experience. It's everything they say it is and more. After my colonic I felt lighter and my back felt better than it had in years. Then I had an acussage - apparently, a unique treatment developed by La Casa - combo massage and accupuncture. I was so blissfully relaxed that by the time she put the needles in, she could have performed a labotomy on me - truly, no pain whatsoever - actually, the needles felt quite pleasurable. I'm planning to make both colonic and acussage part of my staywell regimen. Pros: lots of pleasure Cons: makes me forget what I need to do afterwards more

heaven on earth 5/23/2008

I walked in the door and felt like I was in another world far far away from the noise and hassle of New York City. I knew immediately this was going to be a very special experience. I had signed up for one of the day packages and what a day it was - heaven on earth. It all started with this very nice elderly man who reminded me of my father. He was very reassuring and made me feel right at home. After all, I was about to have my very first colonic. The colonic made me feel like a new person, although not as pleasurable as the massage I had afterwards, it was not unpleasurable. But the most exquisite experience of my visit was the float. I'm planning on repeating the whole day next month. Pros: pleasant & experienced staff - takes you away to another world Cons: up a flight of stairs but great for the quads. more

Worst Colonic Ever 5/22/2008

When you think of the worst possible thing that could happen to you while having a not so pleasant procedure well it did! the fabulous therapist everyone is referring to managed to not do something right because i was left lying on a table while i don't want to be too graffic my ""stuff"" was coming out and not in the tube. i complained without even an apology. i am scared for life! Cons: everything more

Rundown Spa 3/3/2008

I disagree with the above reviews. I have been a customer for over 10 years at this Spa and the last 2 times I went the service was sub par. When I arrived they switched the masseuse to an older in-experienced person who was nervous, talked too much, which made me feel very uncomfortable. The other time I had a body scrub, and I had a terrible rash when I was through. I find the accommodations outdated and run down. I would not recommend this spa to anyone. more

Best Day Spa in Manhattan! 2/29/2008

At long last, I found THE day spa that will be mine forever! Not only did I have a colonic with a professional named Cher - who proves to be the most talented there is - but I have now introduced my very conventional, conservative boyfriend to this therapy...and he's made it his own. (Thank you, Cher! ). I also tried the oxygen/ozone bath to deal with the wound on my foot that would never close and heal... and following that treatment, and then an ""accusage"" with a pro named, Jenn, well, it's finally healed! (I'm back in my Manolos!). Thank you for all of your steep knowledge and expertise and a great ""day at the spa"", LaCasa! Pros: Expertise, professionalism more

A Great Spa Experience 2/26/2008

La Casa Day Spa is a gem. It is like a diamond in the rough but without the rough. The waiting room is spacious, light and airy and looks like a tropical garden. I sipped my tea pleasantly ? which was offered and served by a nice, balding man named Gregg who seems to own, or manage the spa. I was picked up by my therapist and escorted to my treatment room ? and there the real delight began. I had come for a massage and a colonic: the pain first (not really); then the pleasure. The colonic was ? believe it or not ? totally relaxing. My therapist ? whose name was Cher ? had a non-stop running massage on my calves and my abdomen as she was gently encouraging (through various gentle manipulations) my bowels to release themselves. It was absolutely sanitary ? and when it was over, I got up feeling lighter and my back that had been aching for 3 days felt infinitely freer and less achy. The massage was soothing and deep ? and somehow the therapist knew when to do which. I?m a convert. More colonics; more massages for me. La Casa is my new home. Pros: Service Cons: None Noted more

Very Friendly Staff 2/26/2008

La Casa Day spa was a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. I had the Day of Detox package with the massage, float, and colonic and the therapists Jenn and Cher were great. The girl at the front desk was so nice and everyone made me feel welcome. I will definitely be back for more treatments. Pros: friendly staff, interesting treatments more

made my trip to NY worth the airfare 2/26/2008

I am a southern country girl from the back roads of New Orleans Louisiana. NY was a bit overwhelming to me at first - until I found La Casa. It was like coming home. the staff was so friendly, I thought they were family. the ambiance looked like my back yard - filled with plants and trees. I had signed up for a massage - and it was exquisite - but while I was there, they were running a special - I could get another treatment with a $25 savings if I got it that same day. I opted for the supoer-enriched oxygen steam bath. Although it wasn't exactly fun - because I was sitting for a half hour in a steam cabinet, they assured me that it was a powerful de-tox treatment. While I was having the therapy, I watched a CD about it - and learned a lot about the beneficial effects of the activated oxygen that was being pumped into the steam cabinet - and thus into my body. I learned that this is a frequently used form of therapy in Germany - as well as a lot of other countries. I felt cleansed like never before - from inside to out. My skin - everywhere on my body - smelled fresh and looked terrific. I ended my visit by buying a face gel that they make at the spa - it takes 3 weeks to infuse the gel (a combination of coconut, olive and macadamia oils) with the activated oxygen - and then they add over 20 essential oils to it. It had an amazing scent; it felt amazing on my face. I am going to make a visit to La Casa part of my life now. It's a great part of my new life in the Big Apple (as opposed to the Big Easy). Pros: great attitude of staff; unusual and lovely treatments; best place for de-tox in the city Cons: oxygen bath was behind screens more

really really special place - even for adolescents 2/26/2008

Although I am only 14, I take my facials and spa treatments very seriously. I love La Casa - for so many reasons. My mom's been going there for years - and kept hounding me about going. so - one day - I did. The people there were really friendly and make me feel right at home; I did not feel intimidated by the space - I found it warm and inviting (unlike so many other spas that are modern and cold); the therapists gave me a great massage and facial. But - here is the thing. when I was there last, one of the colon therapists started talking to me about my face - which had broken out in a few zits (actually since I started going to yoga). I didn't completely believe what the colon therapist told me - but I decided to trust her anyway. she told me that a series of colonics, combined with facials, would totally change the way my face looked. and she was so right. by the 3rd colonic, I started seeing my old fresh face - no more blemishes. I started looking 12 again (just joking). everyone who wants a great face should come to La Casa. Pros: friendly, knowledgeable staff; warm atmosphere; great treatments Cons: I had to wait a few days to get the colonic appointment more

colonic and floating - dream on for the best day of your life!!! 2/26/2008

I came to La Casa because of back pain. A friend had said that having a colonic would help. Several people I know told me that La Casa Day Spa was the best place in town to have a colonic. In fact, the colonic was wonderful. The therapist was kind and gentle -- a real ""soul"". But I gave myself an additional unexpected treat. I also floated. Floating was subime, totally the best thing I had done for myself in a long time. The water was clean - having just been filtered and UV lighted. I was bouyant in what I was told was 800 pounds of Epsom salts - which they explained was highy detoxifying - as well as keeping me afloat. I actually feel alseep (I think) for a few minutes. I solved most of the world's problems because of the ""SUPRACONSCIOUS state that I fell into - where everything became clear. Seriously, I felt terrific at the end of my 2 hour visit there - like a whole new day had opened up for me. Can't wait for my next visit. Pros: nice helpful staff, beautiful facility in a tropical setting sort of way Cons: up one flight of stairs more

Best colonic in NY 2/19/2008

The spa space looks like a crummy Boca Raton motel and the manager is perpetually cranky but La Casa is home to the best colon therapist in NY. Sharon Stone is an incredibly thorough, professional, experienced practitioner. Enlightened and extraordinarily knowledgeable on all aspects of health (including diet and supplements) she integrates massage to help you get the most from your session. She is truly a healer. Pros: Best colon therapist Cons: Decor, rude manager more

Great for colonics! 2/18/2008

I can only speak for the colonic which was excellent. If you have one, ask for Sharon Stone. She is extremely professional and highly knowledgeable. While the spa is not high-end, it does have a casual and cozy, tropical ambiance which I found inviting and relaxing for alternative health treatment. Good value. Pros: Best colonic therapist Cons: More wellness center than spa more
