La Bella Moda

After going to several wedding shops, I ended up purchasing my dress from La Bella Moda bc they had the dress designer I wanted. I purchased this dress at the end of Sept where I paid half up front and was told I would receive a fabric swatch within a couple week. This swatch NEVER came. I was also measured at the time I picked out my dress and I just received it yesterday and it was big all over even though I only lost 1 pound since last Sept. The length was also too long. They told me it would cost 250 to 400 to alter this dress which is approx 20-25% the cost of this dress. What I dont understand is why did they measure me and why did I have to wait so long to have a custom made dress, when it does not fit me in the bust, waist, hips or length? This makes no sense. I understand minor measurements will always have to be made, but this is ridiculous. I refuse to pay them more money to fix something that shouldve been right in the first place. So annoyed. I do not wish this upon any bride... so please save yourself the hassle and go to a dress shop that actually show more professionalism and commitment to their customers... they are obviously only out to squeeze every penny out of their clients. more

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! I was by myself since my mom and family all live in other states, but Tracy made up for that by letting me take pictures of myself in the dresses and sending them to my mom while we were in the salon. Tracy made my mom feel like she was right there trying on the dresses with us. A note to brides, most other salons DO NOT let you take pictures of yourself in dresses...FYI. They took excellent care of me and my unique situation. They also had me re-try on the dress to be double sure about the measurements/size around my chest, they are extremely thorough. I highly recommend this bridal salon! more

I ordered a bridesmaid dress for a wedding I was in and then a few months later ordered my bridesmaid's dresses for my wedding from this shop. When I was a bridesmaid, I found out I had celiac disease and lost a lot of wait between getting measured for my dress and when I actually tried it on. They women their were extremely offensive asking ""what happened to my chest."" I was a little hesitant to order my bridesmaid's dresses from this shop because my experience with my dress for my friend's wedding was not that great. But they were the only shop who had the dresses I wanted, so I decided to deal with the ""rude"" service I had previously experienced. The experience I had dealing with the dresses for my wedding was absolutely horrible. I had called with a few questions and they said they would need to ""call me back"" with an answer. They never called back, ever. They did the same when my bridesmads called them. I had one bridesmaid call and ask how much the balance was on her dress. The response she got was ""That would require me to go upstairs, I don't know."" Unbelievable. There is one very nice girl who works in the store - every experience I had with her was absolutley fantastic. more

First time i went was specifically to be sized for a bridesmaid dress. After taking my measurements they showed me a chart, told me to pick a size& then asked me to sign my name. I return to try my gown on - does not fit at all. They tell me that my signature means that i went again their advice on ordering. This is infuriating because I had no idea what size i needed which is why i went there in the first place. I wanted them to pick a size for me..but they didnt! they told me to choose. I should also mention that the first time I was there, I felt that wanted nothing to do with me. It took me forever to get someone's attention and they shoved me in the tiniest dressing room ever. I myself am a small girl& i do not know how larger ladies are expected to fit in such a room. Also EVERY SINGLE BRIDESMAID'S DRESS (400$ on sale)RIPPED BEFORE THE RECEPTION. I believe these dresses may have been designed to be worn only during ceremony& that the salespeople (if they knew any better) should have warned the bride. more

Please do not be discouraged by the negative reviews you read because they are NOT TRUE!! La Bella Moda has a great friendly staff. The owner Lena and employee Kathy have been such a great help to me. Just recently my bridesmaid dresses had arrived to shop but the zipper had a malfunction. When the designer refused to fix the issue Lena quickly fixed the problem themselves at no extra cost to me!! This was such a great help to me because La Bella Moda made this their issue since the designer didnt care. Thank you so much to the La Bella Moda Staff!! more

I recently ordered my wedding dress from La Bella Moda and am bringing my bridesmaids to try on dresses there as well. \r \r I had made an appointment to try on wedding dresses at La Bella Moda, despite some of the negative reviews on here and I am very happy i gave it a shot. I was VERY pleasantly surprised and found that all of the negative reviews are not at all founded. Everyone we met was extremely pleasant and helpful and really wanted me to find a dress that I loved. They were not at all pushy, not at all rude or any of the other things the negative reviews had said. The sales woman who I worked with (Tracey) was SO helpful, friendly and just wanted to make me feel comfortable. She really listened to what I wanted.\r \r This was my first experience trying on wedding dresses and it was a very positive experience. I went to 2 other shops later and found that the selection La Bella Moda offers is really nice, very well-priced and can't really be found anywhere else. The condition of the sample dresses is excellent as well. \r \r They have pretty much every bridesmaid dress designer you could look for- they seemed to have even more than they list on their website. I am excited to bring my bridesmaids there! \r \r I would definitely highly recommend going to La Bella Moda for wedding dresses or bridesmaid dresses. This is a great local bridal shop with a good selection, and hit or miss customer service experiences. I am pleased because i found a great dress at a great price and the sales lady was not the least bit pushy and gave an honest opinion. In regards to reviews below... specifically Suzy C. - Firstly, you do not have to get your alterations done at La Bella Moda if you buy a dress there. Secondly, the sales lady allowed me to review the size chart and pick what size I wanted to order. I do not understand how they would run a scam on ordering you a size up and then making up for it in alterations if they do not make you get it altered there and let you pick the size you order. Additionally, I have been to both La Bella Moda and Country Bride (among many other places) and while the staff at Country Bride were excellent and accommodating, the selection is much better at La Bella Moda, i found most dresses at country bride to look the same and be borderline tacky. more

I just purchased my gown from LaBella Moda. The older women can be a little unfriendly but my sales assoc. was absolutely wonderful. She was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of style. I was nervous about going here after reading all of the reviews, but I was really pleasantly surprised! Although the one older woman at the desk (may have been the manager or owner) wasn't very ""warm"" she wasn't rude or unprofessional either. Kathy however was great! She was so nice and very patient with me (I went 3-4 times to try on the same 1-2 dresses before I actually bought one!). I felt that she was honest and not just trying to sell me something. I told her what I was looking for and she found it for me. She even contacted the gown company/manufacturer to ask questions that I had about some of the detailing on the gown for me before I bought it. The other saleswomen in the shop were also nice and complimentary even though I wasn't their client. My measurements and sizing suggestions were accurate and on target with the other bridal shops I had been to. I was kind of between a 6 and an 8 and Kathy gave her recommendation, but said that it was my choice what size I chose. Not to mention there was a nice selection of gowns and the prices were far more reasonable than other places I have been to for the EXACT SAME dresses! They offer a 20% discount on bridal gowns and will also discount bridesmaids and mother of the bride dresses (which are a little high) when you bu your wedding gown there. I haven't had any alteratoins yet since I just ordered my dress a few days go, but all in all my experience was great and I found a beautiful dress that fit my glam style. My experience at La Bella Moda was very pleasant. I've been to a total of 7 stores in search of the perfect gown and this store was by far the most accommodating. The sales girl was very kind and had the patience of a saint. She spent 2 hours with me and even offered to come in on her day off so I could retry the dress for my mother. When going over the measurements with me she showed me the designers size chart, I fell in between a 6 and an 8, she allowed me to choose the size that would be ordered. I had the WORST experience at La Bella Moda. I am an event planner and marketing professional, and I know the good vendors from the bad ones, and La Bella Moda is a BAD one. I got my fitting in December 2008 for a bridesmaid dress- I had to wait over 20 minutes for a simple sizing, and the women there were rude and dismissive. Not only was the store incredible small, they are incompetent. Then, they got my measurements wrong, charged me extra for a dress that is way too big for me. LA Bella Moda is infamous for discounting dresses, but sizing them too big, so that they could make up for the discount with the tailoring. What a RIPOFF. I found out a few days later, a story of a friend's mother sued the shop for cutting the dress wrong, and not replacing it. Finally, they never called my own mother back who is the mother of the groom as she wanted to get a dress there. If you need a good bridal shop, go to Country Bride in North Wales-- great service, wide selection and friendly accommodating staff. I am NOT taking the dress to be tailored there, as I am using Rosa in Blue Bell, who is legendary for her intricate work and professionalism. In a recession, who has time for this NONSENSE? I loved the wedding selections the shop has. It has pretty much has all of my favorite styles after shopping at 20 plus bridal shops in new York and Philly. The price is reasonable and in most cases were the cheapest. However, except for my dress. I totally trusted them and paid for t without checking at other shops first. And I found out their reduced price is still 10% more expensive than other places. I thought they will match it but they didn't for the basis that they provide good alterations etc. So j am cool with that. But when it comes to alterations, they denied that they already told me the price and now is charging me a much higher amount for that! Plus, they became so rude, yelling, screaming on the phone. In the end, j just can't wait to get over with this. Too bad! I really suggest all re employees there take mandatory class on anger management and basic customer service more

I got my bridesmaids dresses at this shop. The owner of the shop was extremely nice and helpful, and all of her employees were very pleasant. The alterations specialist that they contract, however, was rude, unhelpful and charges grossly overcharges. After one of my bridesmaids asked her to fix something she had done to the dress, the alterations woman took it upstairs and brought it back 15 minutes later with the worst fix possible. Once we complained to her and the store owner, she took it upstairs and did the job correctly. She also grossly overcharged, did work I did not ask for and then charged me for it, and charged me to press the dress when it definitely did not look pressed. She also had originally quoted me one price, then changed it to a significantly higher price. I would recommend taking your dresses elsewhere to be altered even if you do buy your dress from this shop. However, if you do get your dresses worked on there, make her stick to her quotes and watch her closely... It is a shame that she is giving the shop a bad reputation and losing them business, as they shop is nice and the owner is great. I read the reviews and felt as though I needed to still give it a try.\r I went without my bridesmaids to preview and was surprised.\r Not only was the selection the largest in the area but I was well received.\r I would suggest making appointment- it is courteous and they can be crowded which may cause a rush feeling. I had a 10am appointment and was there for an hour trying on potential bridesmaid dresses.\r The young lady that helped me could not have been more pleasant\r She was helpful, knowledgeable and patient. I brought my bridesmaids back and we bought the dresses there. I am not sure what the negativity is about but I did not experience it\r more

Every employee that I have come in contact with at this store has been rude and made me feel rushed and uncomfortable. They act like you are putting them out just to do their job. It is a real shame that a business that is supposed to be helping someone celebrate a special day in their lives can make customers feel so crappy. more

I rated this store 5/5 because not only are these women helpful and accomodating, but they are also well educated, honest, respectful, and curteous! I had read these reviews and almost missed out because the reviews I had read were so terrible and all so similar. I believe the new employees are not the ones refrenced in the other reviews and I can gaurantee that you will be pleased! As a Bride, I am stressed out, running around like crazy, and panicked! The women at La Bella were so great in keeping me calm, helping me to relax, showing me a million options, allowing me to take all the time I needed and so much more. PLEASE give the store a shot for yourself before deciding against it. i do not understand all of these awful remarks about La Bella Moda. i bought non only my own wedding dress there but my 8 bridesmaids dresses. Everyone was so nice and helpful with everything. i did not think the prices were bad - in fact they are some of the lowest prices i have seen? They match prices from anywhere plus give you the 20% discount that other stores do. If you are looking for a $50 dress - go to davids bridal. These dresses are gorgeous and from top designers and quite frankly i can't beleive i got my dress for the price that i did. Whether you are looking to spend $3000 for a wedding gown or $600 - they have them all. Be wary of all the bad remarks you see everywhere - people only ever want to complain about the bad and never talk about the good. I think this is a great place to get your dresses as well as your bridal party. I have had friends recommend it to me, and i have recommended it to my friends and never heard one bad remark. My advice - make an appt if you want to try dresses on and have someone service you. You cannot be mad if no one helps you when you did not make an appt to let them know you were coming. I have never had as bad of an experience as I've had here. the sales people made you feel like they couldnt be bothered and they were annoyed with our presence, they were extremely rude and lazy. The dresses are ridiculously overpriced for the type of material the most of them are. I will never go back there even if they were going to give me a free dress thats how nasty those employees are, and it was all of them not just one or two. My five bridesmaids, mother and I were out looking for gowns this past weekend. I had a list of places I wanted to try, and La Bella Moda was on it. When we came in (at about 2:30 pm) and told the woman at the front desk why we were there, she seemed very annoyed. She said that there were already two brides upstairs and there was no one to help us. She proceeded to say that the manager (owner?) was at a wedding and gave them permission to close early when those two brides were finished. She then added that we could make an appointment to come back another day. We couldn't believe it! We had been to at least 3 other stores before then and they were extremely friendly and accommodating. She turned down 7 potential dress sales b/c she wanted to be able to close early. Well, I am happy to say that we ended up giving our business to Belle of the Ball Bridal in Eagleville. I will never set foot in La Bella again. more

I have to say the only reason I gave the dress shop three stars is because I found my dress there and I absolutely love it!! Also when you are looking and trying on dresses they are very super sweet to you because they want your business. So at least that part was an excellent experience. Also, the alterations lady Gemma was very sweet and she made my experience a lot better at La bella Moda. As for the second I bought my dress and decided that is the one I want. The service is horrible and the ALL the people are rude. I called them on it a few times they apologized but then made me feel the same way anytime I called. I know I'm not a crazy detailed person and I'm very easy going. So for them to make me feel like I am bothering them anytime I called was just out of line. Also every sales associate tells you a different price. I have six girls in my wedding and all six got a different price for their dress. Needless to say they matched the lowest one which was pretty cool. They are very very rude to the bridesmaids and even with an appointment made all my girls feel like they were being pains by just being there. I haven't had one good review from any of my girls. The only reason I wanted to get the girls dress there was because of the 20% discount they got for me buying my dress there. I would reccommend if they girls don't mind and your dress isn't too expensive to go somewhere else. If you see soemthing you like there wait before you buy it because many local boutiques have the same designers you just have to call around. This is your speical day it kinda ruins it when the dress shop is rude and you girls are calling you upset that they are so rude...one little thing on top of the many you can make easier for yourself.
