sweet little place! 7/19/2007

I've had dinner here and also brunch and really liked the food both times. Its always busy, but the service is still efficient and fast. I highly recommend anyone to come here. They have really good drinks and coming in a group is always better! more

decent French near Union Square 10/1/2006

This place just never seems to be empty. Good for them, but leads to a very noisy atmosphere - if that's not your thing, this is not a good place for you. That being said, they have a lot of traditional French cafe food - croque monsieur, croque madame, merguez sausage, and in colder weather, boudin. Tuna Nicoise salad, quiche. Most everything I've eaten here is pretty darn good, and the service is surprisingly attentive and polite. Fun place to come with a few friends so you can make enough noise to drown everyone else out! more

Upscale French Roast 3/11/2006

L'express is a slightly more upscale version of French Roast, although the difference is more in the decor than the food or its quality. Civilized when French Roast is not, this is a pleasant, quieter alternative with better drinks and fewer college kids. The steak is excellent and the chicken is decent. Their dinner is better than their brunch as a rule. more

Owner Message
  • L'express, a Lyonnaise bouchon, merges the traditional southern and northern influences of French cooking. Since its founding by the Romans, Lyon has long been the second city of France, and the bustle of this hub of culture and cuisine is reflected in L'express's twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week schedule. The menu celebrates the meat and dairy products of the region, with daily Sausage selections, Charcuterie and Cheese plates, Pig's Feet, Sauteed Tripe, Pike Dumplings, and plenty of beers and Beaujolais.

Editorial
  • In Short
You don't have to be a Francophile to appreciate a casual, 24-hour bistro with a menu heavy on specialties from France's so-called culinary capital of Lyon, such as such as...
