Must make reservations way in advance but well worth it. You get 5 courses. We chose an appetizer, a meat and a fish dish, then we get palete cleanser and a gourmet dessert. Well ...

Classic French 2/10/2003

Great Surprise! 2/10/2003

Great Find! 2/10/2003

Good French food hard to believe its prepared by students. Also glad to see there are places in NYC where you can get a good meal at an affordable price. Pros: great food, affordable, quiet setting more

crap in the hole 1/3/2003

The restaurant looks good but the food and the service there isn't all that good. I don't think it was worth it for the money i paid to be treated like that when i just wanted a min more to decide what to get. Lousy waitress gave me a attitude and it made my whole evening go down the drain. The food isn't all that great and i dunno y zagat gave it such a great review. I wouldn't recommend u go there because they don't treat every customer there right. I think they look at ur color rather then ur wallet. more

Very Disappointed 1/3/2003

I too was very disappointed in L'Ecole since Zagat gave it a good rating. The service was just terrible. The host & waitresses had a strange unfriendly attitude - even the bartender. I just couldn't believe it. The food was not good at all. It's not worth spending money here. But it's a quiet place to chat. Pros: Quiet Cons: Service more

My all time favorite! 11/15/2002

Students at the French Culinary Institute prepare seasonal lunch and dinner menus with French flair.

Owner Message
  • When our guests look at our menu, they marvel at the bounty and creativity of its items. But what they find even more amazing is each delicious dish is being prepared by some of tomorrow's most-promising chefs: our own students.
During the last two levels of our Culinary Arts Program, students cook for restaurant patrons under the supervision of our chef-instructors. The seasonal menu changes every six weeks, as classes advance to the next level, and are designed to ensure that students use the core techniques they've learned at The French Culinary Institute. The cuisine is contemporary French, rooted in the basics and spiced with other ethnic influences.

Editorial
  • There are no celebrity chef egos to be found at this restaurant, as Institute students helm the kitchen. Prix fixe options anchor the menu, and a la carte dining is available only at lunch. For...
