EX employee 5/7/2010

I was checking out my old salon that i miss and saw all these reviews and had to respond. I use to work at this salon and had to leave due to travel time and my health. but i must say that this is the best salon i have ever worked at, its all about the customer and not about how much we can get from them or how fast we can get it done, and when i was hired i was on a trial period and they asked feed back from my customers to find out how i was doing, i became full time and loved my job and i was driving from simi valley everyday for this job, if it was as bad as people are saying i would not have bothered, but due to medical issues i had to stop, and since i have left there i have not been to another salon and i due my own nails because i have high standards and no one compares to LA Vie L'orange so if you are reading all the reviews well I recomend that you go and see for yourself and enjoy if you just want to relax and not talk then tell your tech and she will understand and comply, they dont know unless you tell them... more

I had a wonderful experience here 5/21/2009

I had a wonderful experience here. I went in for a manicure/pedicure and short reflexology massage on a Saturday afternoon. The staff took their time and did an excellent, thorough job on every service. It was definitely a more relaxing experience than most salons; the atmosphere was clean, quiet, and inviting. All the staff who worked there were professional and polite. I was very pleased with the results of my mani-pedi and the massage was also excellent. I will definitely go back. Highly recommended! Pros: Great service, atmosphere Cons: Opens at 9AM instead of 8AM more

Overrated 3/4/2009

Yes, the inside of the location is beautiful, everything seemed very clean, products were good, and there was no sales pressure. But the receptionist was unwelcoming and borderline rude. The chairs were really uncomfortable and not made for people to get a manicure and pedicure simultaneously (and that was the most unfortunate part since I was treating myself to the top og the line hydrating manicure and tropical pedicure). I would prefer to go somewhere nice where I enjoy the experience- not just think its pretty and clean. Aesthetics only go so far. I will also read these reviews more often and not give the business the benefit of the doubt more

what is going on here!? 2/10/2009

I must say this place just keeps making changes. Staffing is so inconsistent. The vibe is so negative now. They have new front desk staff and I must say this new gal that I have never seen is so rude to the employees it really bothers me. I used to get a very ""family oriented"" feeling and now it is so far from that. She talks to them as if they were slaves and not employees, where's a manager when you need one! I remember another gal that was once there for a while would hug the gals and they would all be happily working. I must say the nail gals among them selves will keep that attitude but this front desk rude-ness is not where I want to be. I miss the family I would come to see now I feel like I have to hide in the chair so I don?t have to hear this woman put those gals down. I still love those nail gals but the place does need a nicer, caring loving person that makes you want to keep coming back! The 1st impression to any building you enter starts at the front, always remember that. Pros: nails are amazing and very clean Cons: parking and front desk more

STOP TALKING! 11/18/2008

THIS PLACE IS OUTRAGEOUS. THE PARKING IS HORRIBLE, THE SERVICES ARE PRICEY, THE PEOPLE ARE RUDE. CAN YOU PLEASE STOP CHIT CHATTING DURING PEDICURES?! NOT WORTH MY MONEY. A FIRST TIMER AND AN ONLY TIMER. more

An original 10/10/2008

My name is Angela B., I won't ""hide"" who I am. My husband and I have been long time clients of l.a. vie l?orange for 4 years, I LOVE this place, and I want to comment on some of these rather ?strange and bizarre? reviews that I have been reading lately. The spa has always been above par when compared to the other ""shops"" in the area, and even some hotels.. Well one day I decided to do a little research myself, and talk to the techs (yes ALL of them do speak English, and they don?t wear chop shop mask, because l.a. vie does not do acrylics, so they do talk to you), and I asked them what was with the reviews. One of the techs made the comment, ""well read them carefully"" she said. ""You will notice that none of them are talking about how bad we polish, or we use cheap polish, or how bad our cuticle nipping is, or nails that are not straight, or polish that comes off, or that you could not get an appointment"". She went on to say ?Most of the reviews are talking about ?autoclave used to sanitize"", ?products diluted? , ?towels?, ? dry the tools?, ?. ""foot files are USED,? etc. (I know for a fact my foot file was new, I see them take if from the plastic, or they are right in front of you at the stations in a box, and they give it to you to take home ) she told me ?obviously this is an ex-employee that did not make the cut, and got fired?. Once I read again them again, I understood. I mean how many of us know what an ""autoclave"" is, and ALL TOWLES are used (as are the ones in my husbands and my home), that?s what washing them is for, and who would know anything about towles EXCEPT an employee. l.a. vie is my place for life, and please please continue to remove nail techs that do not make the grade, so that you keep the quality us loyal clientele are accustomed to!!!. And to you disgruntled ex-employees that were not good enough to make the grade, and were let go, and now write ?ghost reviews? you need to get a life. \r Angela Pros: Great Staff, great location, and no ""nail shop"" smell..... more

BOO! 9/29/2008

la vie l'orange must have a ghost writer, because all the positive feedback is a crock. Time to throw the dirty, reused foot files and towels in. more

Finally a Nail SPA True to their advertisement 9/26/2008

I found l.a. vie in Vogue magazine about 3 months ago, and have been going every since. I visited the last night (they don't close until 9 PM), because I was scheduled for an early morning flight today, for a week vacation in Cancun. I booked online, I booked an appointment for a manicure and pedicure with reflexology. True to their advertisement, this spa visit was absolutely relaxing; the environment was serene, clean, and tranquil. All staff were, professional, polite, helpful and courteous. There was no pressure to buy their products or add other services. Additionally, I have sensitive skin as well as allergies that make me cautious about where and how the pedicure is done, and what products are used. The manicure was fabulous, the pedicure with reflexology was the best I have ever experienced. It was a great way to start my vacation, an effective stress buster. The hardest part about last night was leaving the SPA. The experience was blissful. A hint to my husband and children, put a gift certificate for l.a. vie l'oange in my stocking \r \r :-P Pros: no pressure to buy products sold, great staff more

terrible disappointment 9/25/2008

I have been coming here for years, every 3 months or so for what used to be the best pedicure anywhere. They truly were the best - non toxic nail polish remover, specialty teas ad cookies, ovely crips white linens, fresh flowers, a perfect mic of spa luxury and efficiency. I had been noticing a decline the last two times I came - very high turnover of technicians - I used to know the girls here, and I don't recognize anyone anymore. The pedicures became sloppy, occasionally bordering on the painful, and gone were the cookies and lovely teas. \r Today I waited for more than 20 minutes while three horrible women got very slow pedicures ate smelly cheeseburgers. I mentioned it to the owner who said "" what can I do if they order food in?"". I mentioned the wait and he said ""oh, she'll be done any moment now"". I mentioned someone who arrived after I did (I had at appointment mind you) and was already being taken care of, and he said ""she won't be long"". In other words, he couldn't have cared less. I said I'd have to reschedule and left, and he made no effort to keep me there. \r It's unfortunate, but this place is no officially over. I'll have to find another place that compares to what LA vie l'orange once was. Pros: location Cons: everything else more

For once I was not worried that the manicurist are talking about the customers in another language!! 9/16/2008

l.a. vie l'orange offers all nail spa services above and beyond that of your average shop. la vie l'orange is concerned about the overall health and appearance of there customers nails, in addition to the satisfaction of there customers. Most customers become instant friends with the manicurist For once I was not worried that the manicurist are talking about the customers in another language!! Here mr and my sister felt at home. The pedicures are to die for and lots colors are ready for any occasion - another benefit of there friendship. So make your appointment now - this is not the average walk-in shop - expect them to be on time and ready for you when you arrive! Pros: The work is great, it is quiet, they don't rush you and the manicurist speak english more

Beautiful and cozy, and everyone is super friendly, great prices 9/16/2008

I've lived in LA for about 10 years now, and have moved from spa to spa...until last year. I decided to look up who did the one of the LA Lakers Cheerleaders' nails, and found Pilar at l.a. vie l'orange She is wonderful and very sweet. The spa is so beautiful and cozy, and everyone is super friendly. They're always smiling and happy to offer water or anything you might need. I highly recommend checking out the website, they have great pictures! The thechs has done wonders with my nails . I'm extrememly picky about color, and have always left the place happy. Thank you l.a. vie Pros: Great Techs and Staff more

What a MAJOR Rippoff Check the prices - You can buy a new clothes cheaper! 9/8/2008

I only went here because I was given a gift certificate for 250.00 by a celebrity client. I thought that I could get my nails done for a while but when I saw the prices - I just about sh*t myself! Are you kidding me? Forty bucks for a plain old pedicure? $80.00 for a manicure & pedicure? What a joke - I'm going to try to sell my certificate! I'll stick to my regular place who charges 18.00 for BOTH! It will be a cold day in July before I set foot in the hoydy toydy dump again! Pros: Great name! Cons: Who cares about the name - I want value for my dollar and this ain't it! more

l.a. vie l'orange hits the mani-pedi mark 7/18/2008

Recently a few friends and I from the media industry met after work for a mani-pedi and reflexolgy at l.a. vie l'orange, and I must say it is the consummate place for after work relaxation. Lucky Magazine sent us an email, of the best places to go in LA, so we tried it out. Unlike the noise and odor filled places you usually find, this place has a very ""Zen Like"" atmosphere, and an welcoming environment. They have plenty of chairs to seat you while you are waiting, no harsh chemicals or smells in the air, (unlike other regular corner nail shops that want you in and out in 20min) so you can linger before or after your treatment. They are very attentive, and serve fresh cookies, water, tea, hibiscus tea and lemonade. The techs are very friendly, and know when to speak to you, and when to let you just chillout and enjoy. Over all this place get my seal of approval , so thanks Lucky Magazine, Oprah and the rest for sharing your quaint little space with us..\r MediaGirl.. Pros: Great Place To Relax and Get Pampered more

Can you say CHOP SHOP? 7/17/2008

Wow...So I see I'm not alone in this! All I can say is DIRTY, DIRTY, DIRTY!!!! I used to come here all the time and have seen this place slowly decline. I was in for a service yesterday and this once beautiful, tranquil establishment has basically become an overpriced CHOP SHOP. These technicians belong at Happy Nails. First off the foot files are USED, no more champagne or wine for us people paying for pricey services (they have some lame excuse blaming it on the city) and the ""MANAGER"" (or whoever the guy is at the front desk), fights with his employees in front of us patrons. (I witnessed him first hand - Very unproffesional in my opinion) What has become of this place???!!!! And the specials! Out of curiosity I checked out their website when I got home and can you scream DESPERATE loud enough?! I will not be going back and I WILL be telling all my girlfriends. What a shame. Pros: Nail polishes Cons: It's Dirty more

Don't Even bother it's not what they say! 7/17/2008

I must of caught them on a bad day! My service was terrible. \r All the nail technicians are foreign and can barley speak english now. It is run down. I attribute that to the new owner / management. The products used in services seem to be diluted and although neat it was not clean. They don't even bother to dry the tools after they come from the autoclave used to sanitize. They bag them up wet and keep going. I watched the ladies put them in the bags and it was a far cry from sanitary. The owner hovers around and attempts to be sociable with the customers. His breath nearly knocked me off my feet, he is not professional and asks intrusive questions. I miss the old management. It seems to be a flea market, there is a chick selling fake ""one of a kind"" jewelery that can be found downtown LA. What happened to quality? Pros: good polish selection, great cookies Cons: not sanitary, techs do not speak english, owner hovers more

l.a. vie l'orange New Gel Manicure System Rocks!!!!! 7/6/2008

I had been wearing acrylics for 3 years, and then switched to the traditional Gels (that still used acrylic powder), and still was not happy because of what my nails looked like after they were removed, thin and used. Then one day I went into l.a. vie l'orange and they told me about the gels they use called ""Bio-Gel"". This gel is bio-friendly to your nails, has no smell, it is fast, simple, and comes in over 400 colors, and actually helped my nails GROW... I am now a loyal Bio-Gel customer, and get them done every 2-3 weeks. They last, don't chip, are flexible, and are very very natural looking. When I get them re-done, the tech did not have to grind my nail down at all, they just soaked them off with polish remover. This is the solution for us women who want our manicures to last loner, and look as good as the day we got it. Pros: manicure pedicure gels that don't damage your nail Cons: I ate to many fresh chocolate chip cookies while i was there more

SLOW! Unorganized! So unprofessional & Catty! 5/28/2008

I went to this place 2 weeks ago. And I cannot believe the service I got. They were so slow and unorganized. Plus the management was rude! My tecnician was actually talking about another salon it town. I came to get my pedi and all I hear about is their competitor. Last time I'm going here..
