Normally loads of fun 12/2/2011

So, this is a great place to get sushi. Best sushi for miles around. Usually it's a super fun atmosphere, and we have good service. Beware of using coupons, though: they seem to have a negative attitude toward them, without regard to the fact that you may visit often and normally spend lots of money there. Here's tonight's experience: We have never had poor service before, but this server was horrific. When he FINALLY visited our table, the first thing he said was that since we were a party of 6, we probably have a coupon. That was insulting, because we usually don't. Our coupon required a minimum purchase of $100. Then, he kept pushing us to order more because he could ""tell"" we weren't at $100 yet (we thought we were but trusted him because he was so insistent). Next, he brought out our food (minus the stuff he forgot) all out of order. Our bill ended up being $150. He basically forced us to spend $100 even though we didn't want or eat much of what we ordered, because he convinced us that we had to to use our coupon. It was supposed to be a special evening with our extended family, and this was NOT the experience we should have had. So, like I said, normally we love this place, but this really makes me wonder whether we'll want to go back for a while. more

Great place 11/18/2011

I actually was told about this place. Ok so I have only been here twice but I will say that this will be a weekly or every other week treat. I had the ""No name roll"" and the ""Bagel tempura roll."" The food was very fresh, not americanized, and for the first time in a loooooong time (from other sushi places) my Unagi was not fatty at all and that is a VERY BIG plus for me and the shrimp was also very very fresh. I hope that this place stays this way with the food. \r \r My negatives about the place is that the staff is not very attentive at times. They were constantly on their cell phones, engaged in their personal conversations, or had attitudes about something with each other. When new customers would come in they were not greeted at all and they would be standing up front looking like they needed help. Management might want to get that in check before it gets out of hand and they lose customers and money. \r \r Other than that great place to be! You can eat here, get full, and not be hungry in an hour lol! more

MMMM 10/16/2011

This place is always amazing. The Sushi is always fresh. The batter that they use to make tempura is absolutely amazing. Great restaurant!!! more

Great Food, Great Price 9/20/2011

A great place to eat is somewhere that when your friends are in town you tell them ""There is this place we have to go eat while your in town."" For me that is what Kuroshio is. Awesome sushi and great Japanese and Asian style food at a real value. Which is hard to come by these days. They may not have the fastest service when there busy but who expects there sushi roll in 5 minutes or less?!? There will always be a special place in my heart for this restaurant. more

Great sushi for great prices 6/16/2009

Just the Best 11/20/2008

I have been eating sushi and sashimi for more years than I care to say, and Kuroshio ranks as one of the best. The seafood is sooooo fresh, I continue to return and find the same excellent quality each time. You can tell that someone knows what they are doing when it comes to managing the staff, because they are friendly, personable and seem to really enjoy being there...what a novel experience!. Pros: Food Quality, Parking, Friendly staff, good service more

Great sushi 8/18/2008

Been here several times and I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is good along with the service. Have only had the sushi and the fried rice and they were both great. The place is clean and welcoming...the sushi chef's are always having a good time and ads to the atmosphere. The only place around this area that compares in taste is Sushi Express next to Buffalo's. Pros: Food, atmosphere, service Cons: limited booth seating more

We'll Be Back! 6/3/2008

Last Friday was the second time we went back to this fabulous Restaurant , this time service was great, we didn't get our last server,(thank God).Everything was excellent, from the food thru atmosphere.Owner as well as the Manager was friendly, always check up on us, have little conversations.\r Our server was really good, though she might need to keep up with speed and pace of the food(i used to served and managed hospitality industry in NYC)\r Great service, and we had this FRESH Snapper..that was awesome!\r I highly recommended to sushi lovers!..wanna get fresh..this is the PLACE! don't forget about the Sake..should get this with your meal, the choices of sake were excellent!\r more

Fantastic food and knowledgeable server 5/7/2008

I went to Kuroshio with my husband and a friend from work during our lunch hour and will definitely go back! First of all, we made it there and back in close to an hour, which is nearly a miracle for any sit-down lunch. The server knew the menu well and made excellent recommendations to the sushi lovers and was very nice to talk with. The beef teriyaki was amazing and left me wanting more. Our friend had the Mega Mover and could not stop talking about how good it was all day. My husband had udon noodles and a sushi platter. He was still stuffed to the gills at dinner that night and could not get over how tasty the sushi had been. My only wish is that the plate had more of the main dish and less of the ""garnish"" veggies. We will definitely be going back at least once a month to enjoy this tasty stuff! Pros: wonderful food, great service Cons: music a bit too loud, food didn't all come at once more

Love it! 5/7/2008

The food and sake selection is awesome! We eat here 3-5 times per week when in town. You cannot find better food at any price within 20 miles. This restaurant is the jewel of Kennesaw. You get great value, great music, awesome service and ambience to boot - you have to experience it for yourself!!! more

1st time service better than the 2nd 4/14/2008

1st time I went there was last week. The service was good, the nabeyaki udon that I ordered not so great, in fact it's too much veggie than the udon itself, the mega crunch very good. And the 2nd time was last sunday. I ordered 1 Ice tea and 2 water also edamame at first, came 3 Ice tea and because I don't like to reject something that brought to my table I just say to my friends that's okay (I think the server didn't quite listen when I said water). We waited the edamame still not come and when the server brought the soup and salad for the meal, I asked for the edamame and he said "" it should have ready"". And here come our main course (still no edamame). And finally the edamame arrived after we finished half of our meal and obviously the main course more tastefull than the edamame at that time (so we have to put it in to go box). But at least the nabeyaki udon better than last week. Overall the service was not as good (maybe because only 2 server worked at that time) as the food. more

Fresh, fantastic, fun! best sushi north of I-285!! 4/14/2008

Truely a breath of fresh air! Great service, personable staff. We eat there at least once a week. If you want to try something new, Kwa will make it for you! Owner sits at table and shares coversation with you! We love this place! Pros: fresh sushi, great service, personable experience Cons: Tucked away in shopping center more

Best Sushi in the Atlanta area! 4/3/2008

So, I'm from NJ, very close to NYC where they have the best of any cuisine... Living in Kennesaw for a year, working in Atlanta, I've been on a mission to find good Sushi (seafood and pizza)... And Sushi is taken care of! This is THE BEST sushi I've had in Georgia, hands down. The restaurant's decor is upscale, but you get friendly mom & pop shop service. The owner ALWAYS comes to the table to check up on us. The food is absolutely delecatble. The prices are way resonable, especially considering the quality of their food. Always always fresh!\r \r The service has been off for us only twice, because we happened to get new servers at those times, regardless of the mistakes they were always super nice - once it was packed and it took a while to get our food, the other they forgot our edamame, which turned out to be a good thing anyway and we cancelled it to order more sushi.\r \r We've even converted a few local friends who were DEDICATED to another Sushi place nearby to becoming Kuroshio fans - they went back twice within the same week of us introducing it to them! I CRAVE eating here all the time! They've got a kid's menu, and great lunch specials... and even a ""$1 Menu"" C'mon, dollar menu drive through burgers, or dollar menu fresh, fabulous Sushi??? Their classic items are exactly what you're looking for, and the ones they've invented themselves never take away from Japanese flavor (like some other places) and are well well well worth the 'specials' prices.\r \r You HAVE to try Kuroshio if you love sushi - it's definitely even worth the drive from out of town! I'm a foodie, love cooking, trying new places and recipes, and this restaurant is going to the top of my list!!\r \r Melody Pros: QUALITY + FLAVOR + RESONABLE PRICING = BEST SUSHI IN THE ATL AREA! Cons: Not finding it sooner! more

BEST SUSHI IN TOWN 3/31/2008

I have gone to Kuroshio sushi since it first opened and I love it. The manager and the servers are extremely friendly and treat you as if they were a good friend. The food is amazing and there is something on the menu for everyone, whether you like sushi or not. Most of the servers relocated from Ru Sans, also on Barrett, and I agree that Kuroshio has better sushi than any other restaurant. I eat here at least once a week and I crave it all the time! They also provide a 15% discount for Kennesaw students, which is an added bonus to the already great prices. The lunch menu is also great and provides more sushi for your money. The servers are prompt and are always helpful. Pros: Fresh food, Friendly waiters, Great manager, Good parking, Best prices Cons: Zero. more

Wow! Quality and Price can't be beat!! 3/30/2008

We love Sushi and yet we find it hard to find a place that has really fresh sushi without it costing an arm and a leg. Well, we finally found what we were looking for, sushi that is fresh and at a wonderful price. At Kuroshio the fish is fresh, the service is friendly and quick, and to top it off the price is right. For those who aren't yet big sushi fans, this is also a great place for you too. All of my family enjoys sushi but my husband. He would never go with us to have sushi until I got him to go to Kuroshio with me a few months ago. Now, he will go at a drop of a hat because although sushi isn't his thing still the other menu items are. He really enjoys the grilled fish selections. \r Lunch time at Kuroshio offers you a wide selcetion of sushi by the piece or in their lunch specials. I really enjoy the combo lunches because they don't pad the meal by giving you a soup and salad but instead you get more sushi. If you want to have a great meal at an even greater price, this is the place for you. Jeanne Pros: More fresh sushi for a great price than anyother place in Cobb. Cons: It is a sports bar, lots of tvs with all sorts of games playing. more

Best sushi, Best Staff, Best Atmosphere! 1/31/2008

I found this place in my search for a replacement for Fuji Hana since they began their downhill slide. When I first entered, I got the chance to meet the manager/owner Khoa. He was very personable and sat down and talked with me. We started talking about sushi and I started giving him some ideas for rolls that I liked and he actually let me design one of the rolls which is now on the menu! He is a great guy who takes the time to get to know his customers on a personal level and you are not treated as ""just another number or face.""\r \r His staff is always friendly and they work hard to keep you satisfied. They know me by name and always greet me when I come in (Think Norm from Cheers!). I actually visit here now 3 or 4 times a week and Khoa always has the freshest fish and best new rolls for me to try out!\r \r If you are looking for a new place to try or a new place to call home, definitely consider Kuroshio, you will not be disappointed in the least! Pros: Fresh fish, lots of parking, outside tables for when it is nice, good sake selection Cons: None! more
