I came to Dr. Kupersmith for a second opinion for my two year old son, who was diagnosed with Duane's. I showed up for my appointment 15 minutes early, and then was kept waiting for an hour and a half in the waiting room, and another 20 minutes in the treatment room. Luckily, my son was sleeping, and this is not the part of the visit that upset me. When he came in, he introduced himself to his father, shook hands, and then began looking at my son without introducing himself. I took the initiative upon myself to introduce myself. The doctor continued, without making any eye contact with me or addressing me directly, probably ignorant to the fact that I have a medical background and am currently a practicing professional in New York. I also caught him in a slip up during his taperecorded note session, when he said ""it's up to HIM to make the decision about the surgery."" Although admittedly I have no idea about his medical skills, I found him to be socially inept and would not consider continuing treatment with him, because I do not feel that my concerns will be adequately adressed.
