I attended an introductory jewelry making class and it was shameful how bad it was. First of all, I was told that there'd be a 6-hour class and it was really only 4.5 hours. Of that, we only received about 45 minutes of actual instruction. The instructor was preoccupied with his own work and behaved as if his having to teach this class was a major imposition.
His instruction skills were terrible. He reluctantly allowed questions and then did a terrible job of answering them. We made small pendants out of brass and I can say that I'm happy with my simple design. However, I went with such a simple design because based on what I observed from his instruction, anything more than that was just going to lead to an even more frustrating experience.
I imagine that the experience is much different for the people who are enrolled in the advanced classes. But, for anyone looking for something fun to do on the weekend, this is not the place.
