Editorial review from Citysearch 11/25/2012

I have to agree with the poor reviews here. These guys are usually pretty rude and offer the poorest of service. They are located just down the road from me and I spent several thousand dollars buying equipment right after I moved here. Even so, they always act like they've never seen me before when I go in there and there isn't much benefit to having purchased the equipment there when it comes to service. I now buy my parts on line or my belts at NAPA. These guys get no more of my money. FWIW, Terry's is owned by the same company, so don't think you can go to their 'competitor' because they are all the same company. more

What a great store 3/10/2012

We needed our mower serviced, heard from a friend that Knabe Outdoor Power was great, and they are. Our mower would not start, and we were informed by the technicians there, that one of the main problems in all small engines, is the fuel, or more specifically the ethanol, in the fuel. We recieved eye opening information, on the harm ethanol does, and the best way to maintain our lawn equipment. We were informed our mower would need a carburator, I asked about rebuilding, and was given the option of replacing vs. rebuilding at almost the same cost, we elected to replace the carburator. The mower runs like a top, and we have since brought items in, as well as purchased new equipment. This is a great shop! more

The other two reviewers were right! 10/11/2011

When I first read these reviews I thought the guys just had a bad day or a minor attitude because I've been a customer of Knabe's for 10 years but when I went in today the owner of the store flat out let me know my business was not welcome as he sat on the phone talking about his ""best"" customer (who was obviously not me) and never once did he or anyone in the store offer to help me, until I spoke up, and then they brushed me off as if I were an interruption of their precious time. Well, I'm going to take them up on their offer and I also wrote a letter Stihl USA about how I was treated because I do not feel that it is fair that this store be the only Stihl dealer in my immediate area when I have over a dozen pieces of Stihl equipment (all of which, by the way, were purchased from Knabe's). Sad, really sad, but I'm guessing Knabe will be up for sale again one of these years. more

Knabe's Too Busy Seek Other Sources 5/11/2011

The first reviewer has far more patience than I for B.S. as I have just had my first and last experience with this establishment. Two weeks ago to the day, I stopped by Southern States and they recommended this company. I expected good, prompt service at the least. Boy, was I wrong.. The counter person said 2 weeks, 1.5 if I was lucky. I was given nothing to show to claim mower when done .Today, 2 wk to the day, I returned. I was informed that 2 weeks was an estimate on the LOW side. Nothing had been done to it. I stated, fine, I want it back and will seek help elsewhere. Apparently the counter man didn't describe the Honda Push mower as the mechanic was looking at riding mowers. When we sorted THAT out, he said ""nothing is done because we are waiting on parts. To wit, a carbeurator and a cable. Now, no one called to advise me of these things, I guess I was just expected to fork over my life savings on completion. He also advised, Honda makes no carb kits, the wrong thing to say to the person who sold and maintained the first Honda's in this country in the seventies. A whole carb was needed? It couldn't be cleaned? At this point I knew I was dealing with a parts replacer, not a mechanic. A mechanic can clean a carb, a mechanic can fit a cable sheath, or make a replacement for anything. I am 62 and can hardly breathe and the guy didn't even offer to help me get it into my car. As I was leaving, I stopped 2 potential customer's from making another mistake. I also stopped by Southern States and advised the manager, Mike of what Knabe was doing. He said he will no longer recommend them to their customers. more

Beware their time estimates!!! 5/14/2010

I took my Toro walk-behind mower in for repairs on March 27. It was working fine, but had started to smoke and use oil. I thought it might need a ring replacement. I was told it would be 7 - 10 days for the repair when I left it. It is now May 14, almost six weeks later, and my mower is still not finished. I have already had to pay $300 to get my lawn mowed while waiting for these good folks. It would have been far cheaper and better for me to simply buy a new mower! Their standard reason for the delay is that they are very busy. I wish they had been honest when I took it in! Pros: They were once pretty good. Cons: Seven weeks and still waiting for mower repair more
