Not Overly Impressed 12/2/2012

I took my animals to Klingele's because someone I knew took theirs there. They are OK but they are the most expensive place in town that I have seen. I don't mind paying for good care for my Furry Babies as I call them, but not when I go in and the entire feel of the place is anything but friendly. For me it wasn't so much the entire staff, although you can really tell who is there for the love of the animals and who is there because it's a job. I honestly feel that the Doctors and some of the other staff at the clinic don't give off the "I'm here because I love animals" type vibe. I always felt that they were always in a rush to get in see ur "kid" and \r \r I took Belle to get groomed and they asked me what she was and I told them what I was told and the lady actually snickered at me and rolled her eyes. I asked her what the problem was and she said nothing and laughed. I just kinda responded with ok then. As I was walking out the door I told myself never again would I take any of my f more

Beware of Dr. Paul Sculley 4/24/2012

I can't speak for the entire clinic, but we have had a horrible experience with Dr. Sculley. Our dog developed a limp while we were visiting family in Quincy. Took him to see Dr. Sculley and he told us our dog had torn both his CCLs (like the human ACL, but in a dog). We went ahead and had Dr. Sculley do the surgery on the leg he thought was worst and then traveled back to Nashville where we live. After several months of recovery and physical therapy, our dog still could not walk correctly, so we took him to our vets in Nashille. All the opinions were the same...the surgery had not worked (and that the other knee that Dr.Sculley thought was also torn was actually perfectly fine). We traveled back to Hannibal for Dr. Sculley to inspect his own work. He said that it was our fault that the knee was still unstable because his muscles had atrophied. Took our dog the vet school at UT-Knoxville. They also told us that the surgery failed and took an X-ray to prove it. Our dog had to go back in for surgery to have Dr. Sculley's work undone and then had to be treated for the infection from Dr. Sculley's surgery. Since then we have had to send our dog back in for surgery to have the knee taken care of the way Dr. Sculley should have the first time. Be very cautious about letting Dr. Sculley do any surgery on your dog. We aren't mad that the surgery failed...it happens. We're mad that he recommended a surgery inappropriate for our dog and then wasn't honest with us when it failed. Now our dog hasn't walked correctly for almost a year. Learn from our mistake. more

Terrible attitudes 3/31/2012

I used this clinic when I first moved to Quincy and did not know who to go to. The doctors I met were nice and professional. However, the first impression one gets walking into this clinic is that of a cold, uncaring staff. The girls at the front desk are very unfriendly and very unprofessional--often even rude. I had to tell one of them on 3 consecutive visits there that--no, this prescription was NOT for my cat Gus, because Gus had died, as I had repeatedly told her. Well, it hurt enough to lose him, but when they were too lazy to take him out of their computer, and they did not once apologize for this or show even a shred of concern or regret for having opened the wound in my heart yet again, I found a new vet. Nuessen Clinic has the most caring, thoughtful and animal-loving staff I have ever encountered anywhere. more

The vets at Klingele Veterinary Clinic went out of their way to help me. I live in Dallas and wanted a second opinion on some drugs that our local vet were recommending for our dog. I grew up in Quincy and was familiar with the clinic. The vets could not have been nicer or more helpful. And all this for someone who wasn't even a client! Wish they practiced here in Dallas. more

pocket pets 12/16/2010

I have been going to Dr Sue at KVC for a few years now, because she doesn't only treat pocket pets you can tell she actually loves them. Once i had a sick hampster and she was out of town so i called another vet in town and talked to them about my sick hampster and they had told me to just" let it die and buy and new one because it would be cheaper". more

Animal Angel 12/16/2010

I have known Dr Sue for several years now professionally and personally and i think she is the most sweeetest, caring and honest person i know. I have seen Dr Sue take in an animal that is in medical need and fit it and then she will find it a good home, so in my eyes she is a "animal angel" more

concerned citizen 11/2/2010

It's unimaginable that a person like Dr. Sculley is still in business or still have her license to practice. Shame on you Dr. Sculley and anyone that subjects their animals to your "care". The star rating is not even worth 1 star,.. there should be an option of negative stars in which case I would rate Dr. Sculley -10 stars!! more

Rescue group member 10/13/2010

We must hold the people that make their profits either directly or indirectly by supporting these substandard breeding facilities responsible for the suffering of thousands of dogs and the suffering of the families that inadvertently purchase these dogs. The only way this situation will change is when people refuse to purchase pets at pet stores or thru the internet. Only when there is no market for their product will the puppy mill situation change. We must educate the public to either search out and verify quality of their breeder or better yet adopt from their local animal shelter or rescue group. By the way, I'm a board member of a rescue group and have seen the horrors of puppy mill breeders first hand and have spent many hours trying to clean the stench out of the skin of some of these dogs. I also adopted a mill adult who, after the first rocky six weeks, is now a happy, much loved pet. Shame on the vets and suppliers who turn their heads to this suffering. more

Please read this report from HSUS and at the end you will see an endorsement of care given and signed by Dr Sue Sculley. I don't know about the rest of you who love their pets, but I prefer to take mine to a vet who loves and RESPECTS animals. I could never turn my back while my pet was in the care of this vet. \r This site requires I give at least one star in order to post, I wish to go on record that no stars at all are deserved except minus stars.\r \r http://www.humanesociety.org/assets/pdfs/pets/puppy_mills/report_on_mos_dirty_dozen.pdf more

Mrs 5/11/2010

I want to talk about my experience with their cremation services. I disagree with the lady about the bones and ashes. I wanted my pet cremated and ashes returned to me, I did not expect him to be the same as when I left him! I did not receive the ashes from the cremation people, but from the front desk. His ashes were placed in a plastic box. To the staff member who took care of my dog I thank you for taking care of him and returning his ashes to me! I highly recommend your service. more

Awesome 5/5/2010

My cat was attacked by the a pitbull next door and we took him to KVC. Everyone was amazing, I called before arriving and they were all set and ready for the emergency. From the lady that answered the phone to the vet that did the surgery. more

Good for life, not so good for death. 6/8/2009

I took my cat here for various ailments. He was neutered by them, and he lived a good 10 years. KVC's service was the best I've encountered. Putting him down, was comfortable. The staff were very sympathetic. BUT who ever they use in their Cremation services, I think they should fire. There is nothing quite as painful as loosing a loved one, (Human or animal) OR as shocking to see your recently deceased pets bones in chunks with a mild powder.\r This resembled the ending of a bag of cereal. Not at all comforting. more

The best vet for your pet 10/21/2006

The staff is knowledgable, friendly and professional, and their prices are competitive with other local vets. They returned calls promptly night or day, and have always been right on target with the diagnosis and treatment when our pets became ill. Klingele is most definately a second family to our Schotzi, Kai and Kel. more

KVC 11/12/2005

This veterinary clinic needs a lot of attention. The ladies at the desk are not friendly at all. We took our male cat to be bathed there and the groomer was the rudest lady I think I have ever met. When I went to pick the cat up, she told me that she thought about putting pink dog ribbons on his ears with the word "bit**" on him. Not very professional at all. This was the first time I had taken him there, so I am sure he was scared. Will never go back again. more
