Best

I don't mind the (relatively) high prices; the quality is good. Ordered from them about six times now - various items, from both bakery and kitchen - and happy with consistency. ...

Worst

Usually when I go for dessert, I love what I order, it's never crowded and service is fine. I went for dinner and it was packed. When they finally took our order, we waited foreve...

HORRIBLE service. After 1 1/2 hrs, I call to check up on my order and someone told me the order went out. After 30 min, I still didn't receive my food and the same girl was VERY RUDE on the phone and asked "What would you like me to do?" I told her I want to cancel my order. She told me she talked to her manager and since we were paying cash, she said her manager said we can just tell the delivery guy that we no longer want the food. After the delivery guy finally came, I decided to keep the order. After the delivery guy left, I realized they gave me the wrong order!! So this time, I asked to speak directly to the manager. When speaking to the manager, we both realized that the 1st lady on the phone NEVER spoke with the manager. The manager was nice and offered to re-deliver the correct order. Which they did, another hour later....probably THE worst customer service I've ever experienced! more

the burgers were overcooked and very sloppy made (lots of poorly cut and wet lettuce), the cole slaw was dry and the pickles were bitter. And to top it all the cake was old! Very disappointing... more

Lighten up NYC Brunch Goers! 6/26/2007

We waited at least 20 minutes for a table at Kitchenette's Uptown restaurant and while the tables were packed and we had to sit close to a neighboring table, we got water at our table right away, the server came by to ask for drinks within a reasonable amount of time and we ordered when we were ready. It was packed and when we asked about our pancakes taking a bit longer than we anticipated the waitress told us that their grill is only so large and when a lot of orders go in at once it takes a while to get them lined up on the grill. Made sense to me. Pros: Good food. Creative brunch menu. For dinner, nice and quiet. Cons: Crowded for brunch. more

It was packed and when we asked about our pancakes taking a bit longer than we anticipated the waitress told us that their grill is only so large and when a lot of orders go in at once it takes a while to get them lined up on the grill. Made sense to me. FYI - this isn't a place to go for a leisurely weekend brunch if you want to linger over your coffee or whip out your laptop because there is almost always a line of people waiting to get in - but the food is good and you can get in and out without a hassle once you sit down. I did notice that the waitresses were stressed out but it seems to me that with a restaurant that crowded they are bound to be a bit overwhelmed. When my husband made a joke though, our waitress smiled and seemed to lighten up. A touch of kindness can help - I was a waitress once too - so smile at your overwhelmed server. NYC diners can be harsh on their servers. Lighten up and chances are your service will improve! Pros: Good food. Creative brunch menu. For dinner, nice and quiet. Cons: Crowded for brunch. more

Best Brunch in NYC 10/31/2006

I have been here for brunch on a number of occasions and I have been consistently happy. Oftentimes, I come here with 3 or 4 friends for a mini-book club while dining on the extremely delicious comfort food. At no point are we ever rushed or asked to leave. One of the greatest things about this place is that once you are situated you are not expected to get up and leave to make room for the next table once done eating. I will continue to go back! Pros: No rushing you out once finished eating more

Bad service, bad food. Definitely Skip. 10/21/2006

At first impression, we wrongly assumed we were in for a nice dining experience. The place is decorated nicely. But the dining experience was miserable. Right after ordering, we asked to move because the sun was blaring right in our eyes and the staff refused saying we just placed an order (not sure why that would matter). We inisted and were reluctantly moved and they never waited on us again after bringing the food. On top of that, the staff were visibly eating in the corner like a pack of feral dogs. Pros: Ambience Cons: Lousy food, horrible service, high prices more

We inisted and were reluctantly moved and they never waited on us again after bringing the food. On top of that, the staff were visibly eating in the corner like a pack of feral dogs. As far as the food, both the quality and the taste were very disappointing. I've had better waffles out of a frozen breakfast package (Eggo waffles, $1.99 at your local supermarket). The omelette was average at best, the meat inside tasting extremely processed. The prices were expensive, particularly given the very subpar quality. Walking out, we were shocked that there was a line to get into this place. Don't be fooled by the decor. Very disappointing, skip it..... cute & charming feel 7/21/2006

The food is good but nothing spectacular. It's great for brunch or lunch. Nice place for first dates because it's not TOO romantic yet it's a comfy place. more

cute, okay 7/8/2006

The writers of the kitchenette menu had a knack for making the dishes sound really tasty, if perhaps a little exaggerated. The food was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. My tex mex eggs tasted a lot better than they looked (thank goodness! UGLY!) and my sister's peach crepes were flavorful, if overly chewy. Pros: cute, filling, decent Cons: pricey for breakfast, elbow-to-elbow seating more

My tex mex eggs tasted a lot better than they looked (thank goodness! UGLY!) and my sister's peach crepes were flavorful, if overly chewy. The dining room is very crowded, with precious little space between different parties, which can be awkward. We were also unimpressed by how ridiculously loud it seemed. We asked to be reseated in a quieter area, but by the time our lackadaisical waiter got around to move us, we decided it was no longer worth the bother. Pros: cute, filling, decent Cons: pricey for breakfast, elbow-to-elbow seating more

Best comfort food! 6/10/2006

Kitchenette is the best place to go for comfort food. The staff is great and the food is amazing! The portions are HUGE and you?ll definitely have leftovers for later. The prices are decent (around $15 for an entr?for dinner) and it is far uptown but it is definitely worth the trip. There isn?t a lot of seating so get there early! They also have dessert you can order to go (if you don?t save room after your meal). Some of the dishes I recommend are the chicken pot pie, the meatloaf, hamburger, and the entire brunch menue. PROS: amazing food, friendly staff, HUGE portions CONS: a little pricey more

Excellent Brunch!! 5/30/2006

I went here last Sunday for brunch for the first time. It was very good. I had the Berry pancakes with the turkey sausage. The decor was cute it had a rustic like theme. You will see alot of Columbia University students there. I recommend everyone to try it. I was even lucky enough to find a parking space around the corner but it is hard to determine whether or not parking is always easy to find. Pros: Decor, Food, Large portions Cons: none more
