I completely disagree that Kiss isn't worth their price. For true sushi and Japanese food lovers, Kiss is *it* in San Francisco. I lived in Japan for three years and regularly crave true, authentic Japanese food, and had such a ""Eureka"" moment once I found Kiss. \r

If you're looking for a really impressive and romantic sushi date, if you are a *true* sushi lover (I agree, you won't find Americanized sushi rolls full of cream cheese and tempura here) and/or you want a really impressive evening out, look no further. \r
\r
Also, the prices are completely reasonable. We had an 8-course meal, leaving incredibly satiated and full, with two large bottles of beer and including tip for less than $60/person. Far better than some of the bland, tourist-y ""special"" restaurants in SF.\r
\r
You really must try Kiss. It's the most charming Japanese restaurant in the Bay Area.\r

Also, to learn about the preparation of the food - sit at the counter. Naka-san, the chef, is really friendly and his preparation style is fascinating.
