Best Sashimi in the bay! 6/8/2007

Pricey, but definitely worth it. I came twice so far, the first time I ordered the deluxe chef's selection, and the second time I ordered the sushi plate. The portions in the chef's selection is filling, everything was delicious, and the fresh sashimi is amazing. The sushi plate I was a little disappointed in, as the fish variety wasn't as impressive and fresh as their sashimi. It does have some of the best uni I've had in the States, ordered separately. It's a small quaint restaurant that only seats I believe 9~12 people, so make reservations in advance. Very romantic, though service is a bit slow. Highly recommended and would definitely come back! Pros: Cooked dishes, sashimi, ambience Cons: Must make reservations, service a bit slow more

amazing fresh sushi and very good service 11/11/2006

This place is amazing! I would recommend it to anyone who really knows their sushi. It's expensive but well worth the money. You MUST make a reservation otherwise they will NOT seat you. Everything I ate was delicious. The sake they recommended was great too! Check it out! This place is a hiddne jewel! Pros: SUSHI and service Cons: expensive but you get what you pay for! more

Hands down, best sushi in San Francisco 6/10/2006

I completely disagree that Kiss isn't worth their price. For true sushi and Japanese food lovers, Kiss is *it* in San Francisco. I lived in Japan for three years and regularly crave true, authentic Japanese food, and had such a ""Eureka"" moment once I found Kiss. \r \r If you're looking for a really impressive and romantic sushi date, if you are a *true* sushi lover (I agree, you won't find Americanized sushi rolls full of cream cheese and tempura here) and/or you want a really impressive evening out, look no further. \r \r Also, the prices are completely reasonable. We had an 8-course meal, leaving incredibly satiated and full, with two large bottles of beer and including tip for less than $60/person. Far better than some of the bland, tourist-y ""special"" restaurants in SF.\r \r You really must try Kiss. It's the most charming Japanese restaurant in the Bay Area.\r \r Also, to learn about the preparation of the food - sit at the counter. Naka-san, the chef, is really friendly and his preparation style is fascinating. more

definitely not worth it 4/4/2006

i still love the quaint ambience of this place, with its 2 tables and 1 chef. and i didn't mind paying the high prices for their food because it used to be worth it. but now the waitress service is so slow, the kitchen food got drastically blander, and the sushi grade was significantly worse. our whole dinner party got violently sick afterwards! i really hope this place goes back to the quality it used to be. Pros: cute place, chef Cons: food, service more

Not worth it 2/7/2006

Not worth it if you like an American style sushi roll...i.e...dragon roll. This place is more for those that like the authentic feel to Japanese cuisine. It is also very small so when there is a full room, it can get really loud. more

THE, BEST 5/16/2005

Forget trendy Japanese sushi sashimi restaurant. If you want a TRUE Japanese cuisine experience, THIS PLACE IS THE BEST! I REALLY REALLY MEAN IT! more

Great Experience 5/18/2003

For a great experience with a quietly charming sushi chef who does everthing without so much as batting an eye, to to Kiss. The sashimi is great quality, the small cooked dishes are excellent, and the intimacy of the TINY restaurant all feels just right. It may not be cheap, but it is worth it. more

exclusive feel, incredible sushi 9/23/2002

This is a small, cozy restaurant which we almost missed, beacuse there isn't a major sign above it. Definitely glad we went, because its a haven for sushi enthusiasts. Incredible variety of or sushi and saki. Very romantic, and certainly has an exclusive, classy feel to it, simply because of the small space. more
