Bland English Food 11/21/2006

The food is OK. If you ate here and believed that British food is bland and not that great then you'd probably think this place is authentic - it's not. They serve food you might find in a pub in England but that's where the comparison ends. I found the food to be bland and a little overpriced. The best thing we had was the calamari and my Boddingtons. The service was pretty good. The waitress was friendly although not as attentive as I would have liked. more

Who is ripping who off? 5/19/2006

Agreed this is the first draft, and I only have 150 words, but I went to King's Head tonight with my lady and her friend. I ordered a PORTERHOUSE steak and I found a NEW YORK (a whole hour after I ordered!) on my plate. I complained after eating about 1/4 of it realizing it was not a porterhouse. They would NOT replace it with what I ordered. The waitress knew what I ordered and tried to help me to no avail. The bill came and the NEW YORK was on the bill. I complained some more and eventually was in a verbal argument with a random person? He turned out to be the OWNER accusing me of ripping them and the soldiers off. Tell me, how can I rip off anyone if I dont get what I ordered. Im upset with the owner but I did get $15 back. Pros: Music, Fun Crowd, Food Cons: Bad Attitude of Owner, Bad Management , Length to get food more

Not as good as it once was 5/22/2005

We've gone here regularly for dinner, and stay for the music. This last visit was our first in about 8 months. It's still probably a good place if you're just there for drinks and music - and the food is fine, but a good dining experience seems to be a low priority. We were surprised with the stains on the carpet, (the place looked scruffy) the damaged menus with items crossed off in fat black lines, the waitress who called across to me to see if I'd decided on a drink, and the crusty rolls (not in a good way) put us off. Also, being one of only 3 tables on a slow Sunday evening, we were surprised how long it took before we were able to flag down our waitress for drink refills. She was friendly, but too casual *even* for a pub. That was our last visit. Pros: Music Cons: Service, Menu, Restaurant condition more

good drink and good food 5/21/2003

what more is there to say?! We had the bangers and mash and a couple of ciders (not a fan of Guiness). There were a lot of people at the bar on a Wednesday night, but they weren't unruly. I would definitely recommend this place for a happy hour joint. Pros: good prices, good food Cons: parking can be tricky more
