Saved his life 5/16/2018

My husband is in current care at a Kindred hospital in ICU and has been for almost two weeks. They have literally saved his life. He had been in a rehab nursing facility that did not monitor his blood sugar one night after feeding him a wrong diet and his blood sugar the following morning was 11. The paramedics that came said they did not know how he lived with a blood sugar of 11. He was taken to ER in another hospital first and then to ICU had to be intubated and before he could leave there he had to have a tracheotomy and a port in his stomach for feeding tube as he had been found non responsive in the nursing home facility. After he improved enough but still had to have ICU care but longer term he was transferred to Kindred Hospital. The doctors and nurses there in ICU have been wonderful they have taken such good care of him and each morning I get a call about how the night before went. They have scheduled hours to come during the day and evening which I do go up once or twice a day depending upon whether he is sleeping or still in this confused state since his kidney functions have now gotten so bad that he had to be out on dialysis yesterday these doctors and nurses that call me any time of the day to tell me what's going on before I come up have been wonderful. They watch him 24/7. How I can't express how grateful we are to have such care in a facility here in Arlington Texas. I have absolutely no complaints at all. They keep me up on every number that they watch. Each doctor and nurse I have spoken with at Kindred explains everything to me and our family in great detail. They make sure I am kept up to date on each thing that they feel is necessary to do. I have medical power of attorney and regular power of attorney so they come to me and I pass it on to the family. They're doing a wonderful job trying to keep him alive. Thank you Kindred for your excellent care here in Arlington Texas. SanDee Davis jll more

The pulmonary rehab program has saved my life. I'm not sure I'd be able to get out of bed had it not been for this program. Kim is wonderful and the friendships I've made mean the world to me. Forever grateful. more

Excellent 3/12/2018

I am currently staying at Kindred Hospital Tarrant County in Arlington, Texas. There is so much I can say about my stay here, but the very first thing that comes to mind is a simple word, AMAZING! I was brought here from another hospital, to receive wound care, and IV antibiotics for a severe left foot infection. I should mention a little history… I am 45 years old and a Diabetic. Long story short, I went undiagnosed and misdiagnosed with various other ailments until late in life. A lot of irreversible nerve damage had already occurred, and I wasn’t exactly compliant right away with the diabetes. After having a right leg, below the knee leg amputation, my podiatrist is very careful and serious about any infections I get… all my toes on the left foot were also amputated and the left foot is what I rely on for balance, being able to walk, being independent, going through my day to day things, like driving, and working, etc.… So, after surgery on the left foot, having several infected bones removed, he decided I needed to come to a LTAC (Long term acute care) facility for recovery. Thank God, I picked Kindred! All the staff members are extremely friendly and professional… When I say ALL the staff, I mean EVERYONE from the CEO, to the on-staff Doctor’s, to the nurses and tech’s, maintenance, Dietary, housekeeping, and the Case management. Not only are they friendly and professional with an amazing bed side manner towards the patient, they are the same way with each other. This outstanding quality creates the most comfortable, family like feel to the facility and it is almost felt as soon as you walk through the door. As soon as the EMT’s brought me in the building, the front desk employee and the security guard greeted me cheerfully! It is apparent ALL staff is extremely proud to work here, thus creating a “can do” attitude for each other throughout all departments, and even motivating the patients to be involved in their own recovery. What other hospital have you been too where the CEO comes to your room and speaks to you?? My overall experience here has been remarkable, I would unquestionably come back if my medical condition required it. Do not hesitate to be admitted for care at Kindred of Tarrant County in Arlington, Texas… There are a few names I’d like to mention as they stand out for the superb care given to me directly as well as indirectly. Not that it is limited to this list, ALL staff gave me fantastic care, however I can’t remember every name. ?? Nursing- David, Albert, Sandra, Christy, Clenton, Nida, and Theresa Patient Tech’s – Onita, Marcus, Pam, Geronimo, and Helen Doctor’s- Dr. Admassu, Dr. Mclean, and Dr. Nelson Housekeeping – Shay, Patricia, Abigail, and Tim All of Dietary, the food is EXCELLENT All of Maintenance, Wound Care, Respiratory, and Physical Therapy Case Management – Lorie more

Physician recommended 2/22/2018

I was in HEB with complications from my diabetes. I asked to come to Kindred for my care and was told by the social worker that I did not qualify for LTAC. However, the attending physician told me I do qualify and I should push to come here to Arlington because he said I would get excellent care. I've been here a week now and I couldn't agree with him more! Everything has been excellent. T Westfall more

Dog friendly 2/20/2018

My mom has been here over two weeks now and we are extemely happy with her care. Everyone has been great! Her night nurse, Felipe has shown tremendous care and compassion by helping council me and help me understand what my mom is going thru and to deal with some of her outbursts of anger at times. He has done great at talking me thru and dealing with the diffulty of seeing her in pain. Thomas is just a great nurse! He is knowledgeable and makes you feel secure in the fact that she is getting the best care. I have nothing but great things to say about the facility. My mom says the same thing. She loves all of her caregivers. The building isn't much to look at but it is very clean and the staff are all friendly. We were also able to bring her dog up to visit and that meant a lot to her and to us that they were accommodating. Lorie does a tremendous job with commicaying with us about her treatment and plan of care. Mr. Baker more
