Best

My brother had roommates from Thailand and I miss their cooking. This is the next best thing. I'm usually to hungry to wait, but it IS worth it. a great date place. Everything is ...

Worst

Yes the wait is incredibly long... just forget friday and saturday nights... nothing is worth a two hour wait... but certainly not this place... The biggest plus was the fresh...

Be warned 4/2/2004

Yes the wait is incredibly long... just forget friday and saturday nights... nothing is worth a two hour wait... but certainly not this place... The biggest plus was the freshness of the vegetables... obviously great care was taken with the daily selection... another plus is the lovely home the restaurant resides in... However... overall the food is a bit boring which is something that one should never say about Thai... the wait is beyond long... I also found the owner (wife) to be quite rude when we were seated (evidently we were in the way of a plant that she decided that she must water at that particular moment).... I won't be back and I only live 2 blocks away... what does that tell you? Pros: fresh vegetables, nice setting Cons: , bland food more

KP's.... the Best!!! 3/19/2004

I have been going to Khun Pic's for years. Her food is so good, I think she has developed a small following. I, for one, don't go elsewhere. Have you tried her peanut sauce? Damn! The Tom Kha? To die for! The Green Curry? A must have! If you never go to Thai again, try KP's!!! Pros: Peanut Sauce, Lovely Presentation more

Amazing 1/17/2004

Probably the best truly authentic Thai food I have had outside of Thailand -- fresh, simple, delicate, and cooked to order. Not for a quick meal at all -- eating here requires an evening of good company, but for a relaxed and sumptuous meal, you can find no better. more

Beautiful... Cauliflower? 12/28/2003

The interior and exterior of this restaurant are in a dead heat for the title of Most Beautiful. I'm not a fan of cauliflower, though, and was surprised to find it on my old standard the Pad Se Iew. The vegetables were obviously fresh and care went into their preparation, but the flavor you're accustomed to getting from your Pad Whatever may not be what you'll get at Bahn Thai. more

Different for sure 5/30/2003

Fortunately, we were only one of two couples there so we did not experience the often-heard painfully slow service. The beautiful owner and her husband provided excellent and thoughtful service. The Chili Catfish was wonderful; the fish remained crisp amid sauce and vegetables. We also ordered the special vegetable dish with prawns that I do not recommend. Coconut ice cream was a nice way to finish the meal. If youre a first timer, the restaurant is very difficult to spot. Pros: Catfish Cons: vegetable dish, wait to get seated more

Slow but Worth it 4/15/2003

This is probably the BEST Thai food in town. Yes, it is slow (set aside atleast 2 hours) but when it does arrive, your taste buds will be jumping for joy! Pros: Quality, Ambience Cons: Service, Price more

Best Thai All Around 2/9/2003

Amazing, Authentic, Adventurous, Amorous setting, Appetite pleasing, All in All an A plus!!! Pros: family operated, great chef, real thai cuisine Cons: long waits, no lunch, service can be slow more

A Wait So Long, It Hurts 2/3/2003

To Khun Pic: Why the H E double hockey sticks do you have only one server (your hubby)? Het-hem, your service is PAINFULLY slow. The one time I was there, my friends and I waited 45 minutes for our food. The hunger began to take on the flavor of high drama, and we went inside to look for someone who could tell us what was happening with our order. No one was to be found. Finally, Hubby came by with our food, but by that time, it felt like our lives were in ruin. And Hubby did not offer apology one. Later, we had to track him down to get the bill. And that's another thing: why charge out the hooha for such small portions? I've had much better Thai food, served to me in a much more timely manner, for much, much less. Sincerely, Iwilnott B. Best Thai in PDX 1/30/2003

The best Thai food in Portland. Incredible use of spices and herbs, blended professionally. Do not go starving and you won't be disappointed by the wait. Besides, the unique flavor of the food is well worth the wait. Go early or you won't go at all; there are only 2 seatings and it fills up fast! Pros: Excellent Food, Truly Excellent Food, Did I mention... Cons: Wait for it, Small dining area more

The worst Thai in Portland, 1/7/2003

It was the worst Thai restaurant I have ever tried. The food were too cold and little. I would never go there again. more

Amazed 11/14/2002

I've been to many, many Thai restaurants, and this is far and away the best I've ever visited. Everything about it was perfect - we were even lucky enough to be there on a non-crowded night (thursday). Although for the incredible food we were served, I'd be willing to wait for a very long time indeed. If you value expertly cooked food and genuinely attentive and caring service, run to this restaurant! Pros: Ambrosiaical sauces, charming atmosphere Cons: Can be busy more

worth every minute and penny! 9/23/2002

This place is astonishing! The wife cooks ALL the meals while the husband takes care of all the guests. Not to mention the THAi is undisputable as the BEST in the city of roses. The atmosphere was impecable! I dined out doors in the garden, that makes this place a little hard to find. I can't wait to go back and try more and more scrumptous meals. Pros: excellent food, good value, nice atmosphere Cons: slow service******, but totally worth it more

If Bo was a 10, this place is a 15! 7/21/2002

Everything everybody else said in the previous reviews are accurate. Shut down your computer and JUST GO and GO NOW!. Make sure that you place a double order of salad rolls. They are AMAAAAAZZZING!! Pros: friendly atmosphere, best salad rolls, peanut sauce #1 Cons: service at times, hidden on street, small space more

  • In Short
Numerous orchids, mismatched china and old black-and-white photos give the dining room an eclectic, welcoming feel. The one server--the chef's husband--is always friendly, but...
