Kevin St. James

I've never written a review before, but I just spent one night in NYC, and I had such a great time at Kevin St. James that I thought I'd say so! I wanted to go out in the East Village, but it was easier to take the subway uptown. My friend and I just popped into Kevin St. James, and we had a blast! The bartenders were so friendly! They chatted with us when we first arrived and snapped some pictures, and even when the bar started getting crowded, they kept our drinks coming and slapped us high fives on their way by. The crowd in the bar was friendly, too. We met a handful of people just sitting at the bar chatting. Also, the music was good and not too loud, and the Mets game was on tv to watch. Okay so it doesn't look like much from the outside, but this bar is one of the best, fun, and entertaining bars in the city!!! If we don't know where to go on the weekday or weekend my friends and I always know that KSJ will be a good bet. It is almost always crowded, plays great music and the bartenders are the friendliest in the city. They serve you quickly and they sometimes give you house shots when you spend some $$ there!! Which is really nice and not usual in NYC. The other nice thing about this bar is the crowd, which ranges from the locals to tourists, which means you always get a great mix of people. I can't even begin to tell you how many great people I have met here!! The local group of girls & guys are super friendly and really fun. It's like the bartenders and them are best friends, which is great to see. They always make the bar REALLY entertaining. I come here sometimes, just b/c I know who we will see. The food is also really good- it's pub grub, but it's a great place to grab a bite right after work with the guys or girls and drink a few... Usually a "few" turns out to be an all night thing!! Fun fun place. It's not as good as it use to be but overlook the touristy location and KSJ always is a good time. The bartenders are fantastic... loyalty leads to free drinks ... prices are reasonable anyway. Good miz of music is always blasting on the weekends. It gets crowded and you never know who you're gonna meet which is all part of the fun.. I always get a seat at the bar rather than a table b/c the bar is where all the action is. Upstairs is more of a chill out area lounge like. Friends have had parties upstairs, quieter, less crowded, great chill out atmosphere. this place was fun. filled with a really diverse crowd which is great! Good and busy location! They played cool music ranging from modern hip hop to classic 80's. the crowd was having a great time. it was packed but we got a table for 8 no problem. drinks were good but i would probably sit at the bar amidst all the action next time. This place is good for a couple of reasons. 1st- All the waitresses are totally hot. 2nd-Decently priced drinks and happy hour. Not the best deal in the city but reasonable. 3rd- Here's where it really counts. You stay long enough, tip well, and come often, they constantly give free shots, some free drinks, and more free shots. It's a good place to come to watch sports or come after work with friends. KSJ is a fun bar, a little touristy and always loud, a good value-- but the owner's dog, Seamus, is the CUTEST THING EVER and I go in there just to catch a glimpse of the friendly little guy. He's not always around, but when he is...hold on to your hearts! more

Their food is soooo goooooddd.... I wouldn't think a pub had decent food, but this joint has some awesome food, I would eat there every night if I could! I'm not a bar person, but I come to this place to eat! They also have brunch and lunch specials. I also heard they have a second floor lounge, but I've haven't been up there yet. THE FIRST TIME I WAS TOLD ABOUT THIS JOINT, I WASN'T SURE IT WAS LEGIT. THE NAME SOUNDS LIKE A PORN STAR! ANYWAY I HAVE RETURNED TO THIS PLACE AND PLAN TO DO SO MANY TIMES IN THE FUTURE. tHE DRINKS ARE COLD, PRICED RIGHT, AND THE BARTENDERS GIVE BUY-BACKS FREQUENTLY. I always have a great time at Kevin St James. Food is great, beer is great, music is awesome, good service, and lots of tv's for sports. On our first night in NY, this place was recommended to us by some local FDNY guys at Ladder 4. We were not disappointed! It has a great atmosphere, and the service was good with reasonable drink prices (best to sit AT the bar for the quick service). They don't have a jukebox, but all the music is from MP3s played off the bar's PC. Pretty cool. Wild, fun crowd. Beware some of their more obscure liquors though - they may have been sitting around a little too long and may have gone bad - got REALLY sick off one. Roary was the best bar tender ever!!! You have to get him back! THursday nights during the summer is the time to go. Crowd is very diverse. more

I've gone for Happy Hour on Friday and just on a regular late night and the place is great!! Great music, great service, awesome drinks (low prices) and the atmosphere is excellent. When all else fails head to Kevin St. James! more
