I went to Kelly?s last Saturday night with two friends and my boyfriend. Although we are all of the legal drinking age (we?re all over 25) the waiter ?Tomas? asked for my ID; just mine. We asked him why I got carded and no one else did and he said I look the youngest; he told my friend she looks older. how not nice. by the way I?m the oldest. Then said I could not have a drink because my NYC driver?s license expired a month ago. The National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984 states that revenue will be withheld from states that allows the purchase of alcohol by anyone under the age of 21. The law doesn?t state that you have to have a new divers license it states - you have to prove you are ?OF THE LEGAL DRINKING AGE?. My divers license did expire a month ago after nine years but I?m still 32 years old ? that?s why it says born in 1977 ? see proof I?m over 21.
Tomas was rude and wrong. It would have been a different story if he carded everyone at the table, but he singled me out, embarrassed me, and more importantly denied me a well-deserved glass of wine for no reason. You can?t guess ANYONE age by looking at them ? if you are going to car one person you must card everyone at that table.
The food was OKAY. We think Tomas might have done something to it.
Pros: food good
Cons: waiter bad
