So, my friend and I ran across a flier for Kava Hookah while visiting the lake and we had to go see what it was all about. Before we left town, we got a few friends (7) together and were on a hookah mission!
When we walked in we were pleasantly pleased. There was a man and a woman working who were very cool, it almost felt as if we'd been there 100 times! We were lucky enough to have the lady helping us. She explained to us the process of hookahing (sp?). For those who don't know, It's a process of smoking shisha through what I can best describe as a tall glass vase with hoses (my best description doesn't give it justice). Really cool concept! A few in our group were non smokers, including me, so we thought it wouldn't be for us and agreed that we would let the smokers have a go at it and we would just hang with them while they did. This lady was a wonder!!! She explained that they have 100% tobacco free shisha and even non-smokers really like it. It's made from tea leaves! Feeling a bit adventurous we decided to try it out. On recommendation we chose peanut butter and strawberry shisha and our friends chose fruit punch or something. Before you knew it, she was bringing the hookah to the table hoses and all. Puff, Puff, Puff, Puff. We were very shocked. The flavors were wonderful! It was like a pb&j in my mouth, it even gave that essence of having peanut butter mouth. It was YUMMY! What a very social and fun new thing to do! We didn't even cough, it was very smooth. I assume because you are basically inhaling mostly flavored vapor because the material never really burns.
There is a one drink minimum per person. They have various juices, soda, flavored water, relaxation drinks and this miracle thing called kava juice. She gave us a rundown and we were quick to jump on that! I can honestly say it doesn't taste good, but it doesn't taste awful. We had 4 each. 3 of what they call kava bombs and 1 plain kava juice. All but one of us would say go with a bomb! The plain juice is, whew- not so good! The mouth tingling was great! Then a few minutes later we all started getting really chatty and OMG LAUGHING!!! We all thought we were comedians and everything was sooooo funny! Before we knew it, we were all just very relaxed and ever so happy. It's a feeling that I have never experienced all at once. It was like mixing a number of different 'effects' combined together to become one. My mind was so clear and after my 3rd or 4th, I felt SO good physically, emotionally and mentally!
After we left we went back to our friends condo and found ourselves drawn to being outside. Luckily, it was a decent night, kinda chilly but not bad. I don't think it would have mattered either way because there was no other place we wanted to be. I noticed I had a over abundance of patience and a sense of calmness the next day even. Everything was beautiful. I saw things like I have never seen them before. I felt completely centered with myself and surroundings. The effects lasted for about 7 hours slowly tapering off. A experience I/we highly recommend.
The best part about it...research shows kava (oh, which is all natural) to be helpful for people with fibromyalgia, hbp, depression, anxiety, and a whole list of other things!
If you are into smoking accessories or herbal bud this spots got it in their little store area. 3 of my friends say they've got the best prices they have seen anywhere, especially at the lake.
I must say, all in all it was a GREAT experience. My friends and I can't wait until we go back to the lake this summer and do it all over again!
The reasons I gave it a four instead of five star is because it was a little hard to find and because the carpet on their stairs of the building needs to be fixed. Otherwise, it was great.
I wish I would have remembered her name, her husband (I think) was great too, but she mainly worked with us. I would like to thank her personally!
