Julie does a good job with her alterations; however, I do NOT recommend her for custom made clothes. I went in one month ago to have her make a cocktail dress, from scratch and it was not a pleasant experience. Julie took the job with no hesitation and picked out the fabric and assured me that the dress would be great. I went in several times for measurements, to try on a sample dress, to have her pin up the fabric on me and then when it was the week of my event she still was not close to having a finished garment. To help her get the fit right, I went in 4 times that week. Finally on Friday, the day before my event she provided me with a ?finished? dress. The dress simply did not wear properly. It was pulling in places that it should not have been and hanging in others. I have a normal body type and usually wear a size 4 off the rack with no problem, so this did not make sense. It was a very sloppy job, and I was terribly disappointed, especially after going in so much during the pre-stages and being told that the dress would be gorgeous. Julie did not apologize or acknowledge a mistake in the making of the dress. As I tried to further explain the issues I was seeing with the lining and the cut of the back of the dress she kept asking me what I wanted her to do exactly. She wanted me to tell her how to sew the dress. I really could not tell her; otherwise I would have made the dress myself!
I had to leave and simply could not take a dress that was so poorly made. Julie said she would make some adjustments and have it fixed for the following Saturday in hopes that I could wear it to a wedding, that coming weekend. When I went back the following Thursday, it was not fixed and Julie did not seem to care. If the dress was not ready for this weekend, I really had no use for it and Julie knew that. The front was still too big, the lining was still puckering out, and the back was still pulling.
Julie really should just stick to alterations and be HONEST with her customers! If I was told a month ago that this dress could not be made I would have been in a better position the day before my event? Julie was so happy to give me my money back and really could care less about why I asked her to make the dress in the first place. I have been a loyal customer to Julie and have referred several people to her. This was a huge disappointment and her lack of interest in customer satisfaction was most disconcerting.
I have never wrote a negative review; but, I placed my trust in Julie, I wished I had seen this side of her before! Hopefully I can shed some light for future clients.
