Tarley rocks! 5/30/2005

I had my hair cut today by Tarley and she did a great job. She listened to what I had to say about what I wanted in a cut, and she asked really appropriate questions and seemed very perceptive about how my hair works (it's very wavy and sometimes layers make it look like a horrible pyramid). I came out with a cute cut that was what I asked for and more, and I didn't look like I had a pyramid on my head. The salon atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, too, but it was a weekday morning, so they might be different when they're busy. The price was quite reasonable, and a bargain for the quality of the work. more

Original style, friendly vibe 4/26/2005

I went here recently and had a great experience. The hairstylist worked with me and gave me a haircut with the exactly the right style/attitude, it was edgy but also looked great. I get compliments everywhere I go and I won't hesitate to go back there, and to take my stylist's suggestion. I love that you can go here and get a haircut that you don't see on everyone else in Boston! Pros: Creative, Friendly, Not pushy Cons: Parking more

Stylish and Fun 3/7/2005

I've had my hair cut here several times (male) and have never been displeased. I always feel like they listen to what I want, even if I can't communicate it as effectively as I'd like. They also don't spend the entire session pushing products on you. Definitely recommend David, but all the others are great as well. And if you're expecting to discuss health issues or cheating husbands, you'd be better off going to your mom's salon. Pros: fun staff, not pushy Cons: little pricey more

Fun, Well-Priceed Salon 2/27/2005

Being that I normally wear my hair in a bob, I was a little concerned about going to a place that looked this funky. My concerns were ill-founded. When I called for my first appointment, the receptionist took the time to ask about hair type and length and then recommended Lauren. Lauren took my naturally thick, wavy, frizzy hair and made it manageable. Not my all time favorite hairstylist but at a considerably cheaper price than the others I will keep going to Lauren. Fun and Skill 12/27/2003

This place is so fun, the staff are friendly and funky. My stylist is great, she's got tons of suggestions and really listens to my ideas--so together we came up with a great 'do for me that I get tons of compliments on. If you don't like this place, you are probably really uptight. Pros: great cuts, funky, young and hip Cons: parking! more

Decent Cut but an unwelcoming place 12/10/2003

I have to agree with a few other comments on their reviews of Judy Jetson. I went to get a drastic hair cut, however I did not receive any indication as to whether it would be a good cut for my face or not. The woman who cut my hair barely said two words to me except for asking me how short I wanted it and when she was done she just walked away. However, I really did like the cut she gave me. A friend also went the same day as me and had Randy who seemed to give her much more ideas as to what would suit her face. I think if I do go back then I would ask for Randy, but most likely I'll probably try some other place. Pros: great location, good cut Cons: employees attitudes, cost, decor more

Haircut just ok 8/5/2003

I want to start out by saying I'm reasonably satisfied with the actual haircut I got at JJ Salon. That said, on my first visit, the stylist sat me down, barely looked at my hair, and instead of asking me what we were doing with it said, ""How much are we taking off?"" . She was brusque, rushed, and there was no feeling of pampering. The shampoo and conditioner they used reeked of patchouli and hemp. Ick. I came home and washed my hair. I'm not crying, but I won't be going back. Pros: haircut ok, on time, good location Cons: NO consultation, Bad Products, Rushed more

Judy Jetson is out of this world 6/3/2003

My friend Matt got me into Judy's, my friend Linda loves Judy's and I love Judy's. I love my haircuts from this place. I use to go to Gino's in Hvd Sq. this place kills it. Kinda pricey, but well worth it. a Pros: awesome stylists, convenient, cool building more

Judy's is amazing 4/6/2003

I went for my first haircut at Judy's and was quite suprised with the results. The decor is urban and utilitarian. I was plesantly greeted as I walked though the door, and my stylist was incredible. Randy listened to what I wanted and told me honestly and directly what would and would not work for my personal style. The cost was a little bit higher than expected, but since I only go once in a blue moon, I didn't mind shelling out the $40 for a trim. I would definately reccomend Judy's to anyone looking for a refreshing change from the city hustle and bustle. Pros: Atmosphere, Stylist, Results Cons: Pricey more

Horrible! 12/3/2002

Not only did I get a horrible hair cut, but the stylist was a punk with absolutely NO talent. No wonder it's not downtown, they wouldn't survive. The surroundings are just about as warm as my garage, with plastic dinosaurs in the windows and very loud people shouting at each other (and in my ear), having conversations about nothing while ignoring their clients. Abolsutely horrible experience, I will never go back! Cons: Stylist was terrible, place was too loud, fire the decorator! more
