My fiance and I tasted many cakes in Portland, and only Joseph's had edible outer frosting and fruit fillings that tasted like actual fruit instead of lifesavers. We loved the fact that we could taste so many cakes and getting to take 3"" sample cakes home made the chore of wedding planning a fun and tasty privilege. Our guests unanimously called the cake fabulous and we got to have it for breakfast each morning of our honeymoon. The marionbella is pure almond and marionberry joy on a fork and the french press is a remarkable chocolate cake. I also thought the quantity and quality of the cake, particularly the decorations included in the base price, were an exceptional value considering the local competition. more

I wasted a month trying to order a cake from Joseph's while planning a Portland Wedding from out of state. ""K8"" the woman I dealt with was curt, and non-responsive at times not returning emails or phone calls. As if I was wasting her time by ordering a small cake (40 person wedding cake). I was so accomodating to make things easier for them, but ""K8"" made me feel like she was doing me a favor. In the end... three weeks from my wedding... I have no cake. Thanks Joseph's! I got married at the end of September and Joseph made our cake. First of all, Kate remembers every cake and venue in their show book, which is a sign of good personal service. They sent us home with 4 little mini cakes and even remembered and made a note of my food allergies. On our wedding day, everything was smooth as can be. They have the best cake in town (believe me, I tasted several) and the pricing is right on par. When we finalized our cake, we went in and Joseph himself talked to us about our cake. This is the kind of service that is becoming very rare these days. He is an expert and will not steer you wrong. I would not risk going anywhere else. i am getting married this april and i just have to say WOW this is the best cake ever i love how everything is handmade including the fruit fillings! no other bakery does that! i am so excited about eating the cake at the wedding and to see how beautiful it is going to be its well worth the price! In October of 2005, I got married and Joseph's made our wedding cake. It was fabulous!!!! My husband and I tasted wedding cake and pretty much every cake place in the Portland area and Joseph's tastes the best. They use really good quality ingredients, it's the real deal. They are very generous and let you take home mini cakes from the tasting so you can taste them again at home, very cool, no one else did this. In fact, some other places only gave us these tiny cake bites to taste. Joseph's has lots of choices for great flavors, we had a hard time picking because they all taste amazing. We got the chocolate gold cake, it had ivory frosting on the outside with little dots and black frosting ribbons and then our florist put fresh purple and white flowers on top. It looked beautiful and elegant and went with our theme and it tasted fabulous. Joseph always had great customer service - friendly in person and on the phone, and great with all of the details. I trusted him to do a great job and he did! He arrived on time with the cake and even brought some fresh flowers for the cake as a back up just encase. And our on 1st year anniversary we got a mini version of our cake, which actually wasn't that mini :) - Yum! And he wrote Happy Anniversary with our names on it. The 1st Anniversary cake is part of the package. I highly recommend Joseph's and they do more than just weddings. Call early so you make sure you get them, they book up fast. They're really popular.
