Worst facial ever!\r \r I purchased this facial from Groupon and assumed it was a reputable skin care facility given it's Rodeo Dr in Beverly Hills address but I should have read the yelp reviews first because it was more like a beauty school training room. Edna the facialist, seems untrained in every area. \r \r The room was extremely small but that was the best part of my experience. \r \r Edna talked loudly and too much but didn't talk about what she was doing to my face. She actually shocked me when she started the microdermabrasion without warning. It was the quickest and most painful microdermabrasion I've ever had and she only did a few areas on my face (thankfully given her horrible method). She ran the tool so fast across my face that it left red stripes here and there. \r \r Dirty - She never changed the water when taking products off of my face so by the second time she wiped down my face, the water was cold and when I left I had grains all over. I don't know if the dirty water is a health code violation but it should be. \r \r I was lying there for awhile at one point wondering what was happening (since she never explains the steps she's taking) so I opened my eyes and she was on her cell phone! This happened many times. The cell actually went off with a call once during the treatment. \r \r She wanted to charge me extra for extractions which estheticians usually do as part of a facial so that didn't make sense. I declined. \r \r It was unrelaxing ande she was extremely unprofessional. I left stressed out and didn't have that ""just had a facial"" glow. I left with a grainy, dry, stripped face so I went home and washed my face followed by a hydrating moisurizer. I honestly thought the facial would get better but it seriously kept getting worse. \r \r Waste of money yes but it was more of a waste of time and energy. It's hard to believe that the owner of the Joseph Martin Salon hasn't read these reviews and taken action. \r more

I just got the most perfect highlights I've ever had!! i'm brunette and i just wanted my hair to look naturally sun kissed, and she totally nailed it! It looks sooooooo gooooood! i can't get over it. Not to mention she's a total sweetheart and wasn't just coloring my hair, but she made sure I felt comfortable in every sense. Good conversation and great color! Love her! more

I have lived in LA for nearly 15 years and hopped from salon to salon looking for someone who really knows what they're doing... I finally found it in Tamar. She is super cool, listens to whatever ideas you have, has suggestions of her own, is the most unbelievable colorist, gives you the best cut you've ever had and honestly does the greatest blow dry in town! And... she's always on time! I love, love, love this chick and have found the one for me!! more

I used to think hair color wasn't important for guys, especially for shorter hair, until I saw Chris years ago. I'm older, so I'm not looking for anything too ""out there"" beyond age appropriate. I'm a lawyer, so I have to look professional. I would have to say that Chris gave me back the my natural color that blended my grey, and I've been a loyal fan of his since he worked at Juan Juan. Never going back for that do-it-yourself Just for Men junk again. more

I would follow Chris Tanaka anywhere! I went through a period of not highlighting my hair before because my hair felt damaged, but since I started going to Chris my hair is healthier, shinier, and totally low maintenance. If you want natural looking hair, he's the guy to see!! Pros: Best colorist!! more

Chris Tanaka is the best colorist I have ever dealt with, not only is he fast with foils, he has a knack of getting the right color and highlights for my skin tone. I get nothing but compliments anytime he touches my hair. I have been seeing him for at least 5 years now. I also like when I give him free reign and he changes my color for the season, subtle changes but profound. He is kind, thoughtful, a good listener and all around, a real nice person as well as a very gifted colorist. What more can a person ask for!!!!!! Pros: Amazing colorist more

Ian colors and cuts my hair. He mixes a color that is perfect for my skin tone and has so many shades in it, it looks completely natural and suited to me. He has worked with my hair over many months to gradually make changes (which is what I asked for) and he remembers exactly what he did each time. Great sense of color and skin tones. Watching Ian cut hair is part of the fun. He works quickly but there is never a misstep (""Years of practice,"" he explained). He seems to cut every hair on your head individually at an angle to the head, checking lengths as he goes, so there is always texture and movement in the design of the style. He listened carefully, checked with me often, and designed a style uniquely to suit me. Although they have specialists there, I personally like having Ian do both the color and the style so they complement each other. I always get compliments. It's the kind of cut and color you'd expect on Rodeo Dr. (I sometimes spot celebrities there, but Ian says the really big stars usually make special arrangements to come in after hours.) Everyone is very friendly and helpful. You really feel pampered in there, and feel and look great coming out. Pros: Best color and cut more

\r I live in Ny. and in my business I have access to the best makeup artists and I never write reviews ,but I have to say I had the best eyebrow wax by a girl named Marie at Joseph Martin salon the other day. When in LA I usually go to Anastasia, but let me tell you Marie does a way better job , and you don't have to wait for 2 hours. Funny enough, she used to work for her. My friend and I had a red carpet event and she had her makeup done by Marie later that day and she looked stunning. Natural, beautiful, cool makeup. Not heavy and dated like a lot of other makeup artists. So, if you live in L.A. you have to go to Marie. Oh, and she's super nice, too. No attitude. Pros: Best eyebrows and makeup Cons: underground. I am the manager at JosephMartin salon, and I just want to set the record straight. The negative review about our salon on Citysearch is unreasonable. Firstly there is no receptionist by the name of Ellen, and secondly the person who wrote the review was not a client, but a person who came for a free haircut and color as a model for our training staff. She was totally demanding and unreasonable and we eventually asked her to leave the salon. I repeat she paid nothing the services she received. more

So, I made an appt at the salon as a suggestion from a friend, and I am so glad she told me about this salon.\r From the minute I walked into the salon I was treated really well by the kind and friendly staff.\r A French stylist named Florent gave me such an amazing haircut that I can really manage by myself, which is very unusual for me.\r I highly recommend this salon to anyone who wants a really good haircut on Rodeo Drive. more

I was referred to this salon by a friend after I commented on her color and cut. I got my hair colored by Koki,haircut and style with James, and makeup by Laura. They were all very professional and very experienced. I LOVE my hair. The whole experience was great. The shampoo girl was AMAZING. They even gave me a massage after the shampoo. I have been going to JosephMartin for over 5 year now. Marcus is my colorist and Cesare is my hair stylist. Marcus has a knack with color. He got it right on the very first visit and I've received more compliments on my color since Marcus started coloring my hair. And Cesare is BRILLIANT with a pair of scissors. I get a great cut every single time. He also likes to change my style from time to time to make me more current. And he styles my hair perfectly. The great thing about this salon is that if I come in for a blowdry and Cesare is busy, there are many other talented stylists that can do a great job. \r \r And I can't forget the shampoo girls. They are the best in the industry. The give you a great professional shampoo with great products like Kerastase. They even give you a massage at the end. AMAZING!!\r \r The most professional I've been to in a long time. \r \r As for the earlier reviewer that gave this salon 1 star- She obviously wasn't a paying client because Paul and Ellen are assistants and only perform cuts and color on models. Two different receptionists (Ellen and ?) were blatantly arrogant, rude, and unprofessional consistently, over several phone calls. My first stylist Paul, was good, but told me to call his cell phone to book next appointment in order to avoid the terrible receptionist/appt. bookers at the front desk! Worst of all, for my 3rd (and final appointment) James Kendall, allegedly a 'supervisor stylist' was a no show for my appt., a receptionist named Ellen called me 2 minutes before my scheduled appointment - (which I had driven 1 hour in traffic for), was nothing short of an angry c@*t on the phone - informing me that James had taken off for the evening and I shouldn't bother to come in. Don't let the allure of a Rodeo Drive address fool you into thinking this place is special - SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE PEOPLE !\r more

I am in love with my new hairdo and my stylish stylist at JosephMartin.Heidi is a Vidal Sassoon trained miracle worker originally from Taiwan. She has 10 years experience but is just starting out in the US.My old style was just that: hot rollers, hairspray,even a little backcombing for height.I have been everywhere; Umberto,Juan Juan,Frederic Fekkai,you name it.Heidi asked to do a new style for me that she felt suited my face and lifestyle.WOW! I am now wearing a straight bob that is precision cut and strangers stop me to comment on my do.She recommended certain products and all I do to stay perfect is use them and a flat iron and my geometric look is perfect for about 2 months when I need her to cut the angle back in.I have seen her cut layers on others that look AMAZING! Put your self in her hands and you will not be sorry. Pros: Great skill and styling to suit all ages and lifestyles.The Colorists are terrific too! Cons: Park in the Public parking, valet at the salon a little pricey. more
