Rip Off ! 6/29/2006

The entertainment was fair at best, the prices high and the portions small. I am usually very open and tolerant about theme or family entertainment restaurants, been to plenty of Chuck E Cheese joints and they are fine for what they do ... We had non-working special effects, two meals brought after the rest were completely finished, no offer of a refund, there are no refills in the place on anything either ... I rarely leave a restaurant this dissatisified, but I am sure there are better family restaurants with entertainment value than this one in NYC. You would be better off with takeout at the park than this .. more

Cheesy but fun! 4/4/2006

Jekyl and Hyde is like a haunted TGI Friday's. This restaurant is pretty good on the theme- not so good on the food or service. I thouroughly enjoyed the entertainment from the sinking ceiling in the entrance to the haunted dining room. The live performance was good as well with monsters and ghouls interacting with the audience. The dark dining room and several creepily inspired menu items are fun. However, the majority of the food is quite uninspired- think spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer and meals like burgers and fries. The entrees are way over-priced- I guess you're paying for ambiance. The food also tastes like it has been frozen and was just microwaved and bought to your table. The club on the 3rd floor of the midtown location is fun. All in all, not a bad place to go for good cheesy fun, but not a great place to eat. more

Yick 9/4/2005

The place is certainly unique, and entertaining for children. The menu is your typical american fare - chicken fingers, burgers, more french fries than you would ever need, and overpriced frou frou alcoholic beverages for $10 a piece. The food certainly doesn't live up to the prices, nor does the entertainment live up to the mandatory entertainment fee (assessed per person, not per table). Overpriced, gross food. Don't go unless your children drag you in there kicking & screaming. more

a fun place to dine with kids 8/3/2005

If you are looking for a fun restaurant to take kids this is a good choice. They show classic scary movies on tvs throughout the place and it is decorated with an electric chair, skeletons and other stuff to try to scare you. The food is not the greatest but the atmosphere makes up for it. more

Its a FUN Place 7/31/2005

Althought the food is good, your not going for the food. The staff dresses up and they try to scare you. It gets crowded so try to go on off times. My kids loved it more

Exciting Restaurant and Interactive Entertainment 6/19/2005

Haunted Restaurant - Great food, friendly service, and thrilling family entertainment to guests of all ages. Jekyll and Hyde is an awesome restaurant located in Midtown Manhattan, across the street from Macy's and a block away from Central Park. A novelty restaurant, the food is slightly overpriced but you get a big bang for your buck. The atmosphere definitely makes up for the slightly raised prices, though. It is decorated out like an old set from a Hammer Horror Film and the staff try their hardest to make you jump when you least expect it. Also, there are set pieces of acting that are quite distracting. If you are with kids, or are just a big one yourself, you will enjoy it. However, it is quite a popular spot, and they try to turn over the customers as fast as possible. It is also quite cramped in there. Try it once with a group of friends. Every half hour a show is put on with all of the characters, and the giant temple of doom creature on the wall talks to the audience, with fire in his eyes. It's an amazing experience with great food and an even better atmosphere. I definitely recommend it. more
