Always Great!!! 7/12/2011

Great patio for the community... people watch, study for school, meet new friends or pet a friendly dog. They bring me back every time with their coffee quality, friendly staff and great WIFI. The fact that the shop is always clean, welcoming and a fair price keeps me from going to any other coffee shops in the area. more

Coffee and Wine...what more could you want? 8/16/2009

My office building recently lost a Starbucks and we NEED (no, I need) a coffee shop.\r \r We headed to Java Vino on a Thursday and found it to be almost empty. We looked over the menus and had a hard time deciding on what we wanted because everything looked amazing.\r \r We settled on a cheese plate, hummus and chicken salad sandwich with wine. I felt as if I was in HEAVEN. Fresh, fast and delicious. We polished off our evening with dessert, coffee and a sample of a dessert wine.\r \r The wait staff was friendly and anticipated our needs. They even started a tab for us.\r \r The parking was easy, the space neat and bright with appropriate music and WiFi connection.\r \r I cannot think of a better combination! Pros: Everything Cons: the picture of the snake in the Ladies Restroom more

My favorite coffee/wine bar 1/29/2008

Java Vino has the best wines, the best desserts, the best teas, the best coffee, and the best food of all the coffee shops I've been to in Atlanta. Pros: Great wine, great atmosphere, and great background music Cons: Closes at 11AM on Mondays more

Daycare vs. Winebar 8/21/2007

I noticed all the reviews were from 2005 except the most recent was from 2006. I've been to JavaVino a number of times during the past couple of years and really liked it. It seems to be far less up-scale than in the past. The owners seem to be running the bar and house together. The kids were all over...a wine bar is not a place I wish to see kids around. Also it doesn't seem to be as well maintained. The bathroom sink was filthy. I had to tell a worker there was no papertowels twice - an hour apart. And no soap in the bathroom. I remember a far nicer place to go for a drink. I won't be hurrying back. more

Great Patio, Awesome for Private Parties 8/13/2006

I used JavaVino for a birthday bash party and it was a great experience. The owners worked with me directly and the wine diva Katie was great. She recommended a great selection of wine for my wine snobby friends and it was a great success. A great big ""30"" party and everyone had a great time. There is a private space for private parties with a front patio that's private in the upstairs area. I really enjoyed myself, and felt as comfortable as at home.\r \r Their espresso drinks were a nice night cap as we wrapped up our party upstairs.\r \r JavaVino handled all the food and drinks and let us bring in a few items to decorate with a personal touch.\r \r I would highly recommend this place. Pros: Great Staff, Great Private Space, Awesome Wine List more

Coffee, wine, and quick bite - LOVE it 10/30/2005

There aren't words enough for how enthusiastic I am about this place. I've been frequenting JavaVino since it opened over a year ago, and it truly gets better with every visit. The coffee is amazing, the wine is cheap and plentiful, the food is amazing, and the service is spot-on. I'm especially loving all the new soups and sandwiches, and the sweet potato pie last week knocked my socks off. This is such a great place not just for chilling but also for a quick, cheap nosh served with a smile. Pros: Food/Bev, Service, Atmosphere more

We had a great time! 7/5/2005

We love this place! Take a sip . . their coffee is great! Ask them why, and you will learn why it is not only better tasting, but also better for the rainforests and better for the workers who grow and harvest it! As an added bonus, it is also more affordable than the big chains! The wine selection is wonderful, and they have great tastings all the time. To sum it up, there is nothing like a superior product served by people (the owners and great staff) who really love what they do. Pros: Selva Negra Coffee, Friendly Employees, Great Atmosphere more

The BEST Coffee/Wine! 6/22/2005

This is a true ""mom and pop"" shop, and offers what the coffee chain on every other corner does not. You meet and are served by the owners and a staff that is friendly and knowlegable. They are there whenever you come in and get to know you and make you feel at home. On top of that, the quality of the coffee is far superior to the big chains, and the price is less! The food is great, and I'd need a lot more room to talk about the wine (my favorite part). In short, they have great coffee, a great atmosphere, and great food and wine! Pros: Great Coffee, Wine Selection, Atmosphere more

My favorite hangout! 6/16/2005

Having lived in Atlanta for 8+ years now, I finally have a place I love to hang out in. The coffee is superb and the wine selection is great. Whether you want to relax with friends over coffee or stare adoringly into the eyes of your lover over a glass of wine, the atmosphere will suit you. The owners, Steve and Heddy (and now Conner), are a pleasure to spend time with. On any given night, you are guaranteed to meet any or all of them (although don't expect any deep philosophical conversation from Conner just yet). Come on out to JavaVino and I guarantee you an experience unlike any other in Atlanta. more

excellent 6/12/2005

Excellent location to meet friends and to start or end the day. The coffee gift packages are great gifts for family. more

Java Vino 6/11/2005

Best local roasted coffee. Private estate coffee ( dark roast) is highly recommended. Don't forget your punch card for a free bag of beans. more

This is a very friendly and warm venu as seen by their many dedicated customers. Pros: friendly owners, ambitious, smart business men more

Nice little place 6/10/2005

Atlanta does a good job with its smaller, ""mom and pop"", type restaurants, coffee shops, retail and other niche market businesses. When I went into JavaVino I found one of the best local and unique businesses I have ever found anywhere. In addition to some amazing coffee, the atmosphere is really cool. You'll often see the actual Mom and Pop there and the coffee is from their family, from what I heard some people talking about with the owners (at least I thought it was them). My wife and I plan on going and trying their wine side of the business. It looked like they had quite a large wine list and some I knew to be some of my favorites. I would highly recommend this place to someone looking for something new, or someone looking for a regular hang out. Pros: coffee, atmosphere Cons: busy more

Great start to the morning 6/7/2005

I brew Java Vino coffee every morning. It is by far the best coffee. It is freshly roasted by the owner every week, you can't beat it! The atmosphere of the shop is great, everyone is friendly and eager to help. And the best part is if you are not in the mood for cofee, there is always a great selection of wines to choose from, including wine tastings just about every Sunday evening. Its a great place to visit! more

Unique and friendly - just what we want! 6/6/2005

JavaVino offers cozy contemporary athmosphere of the interior, great service, nice furniture to sit and eat on, and of course the best coffee in town - a coffee that has a story attached to it, and is being roasted on premises. Great wine selection, and nice variety of food to go with it. How many places are actually offerring an European cheese platter ? A great break from Starbucks and similar fellas. We need more of the folks like JavaVino to get back that homey feel. Pros: authentic, delicious, inexpensive Cons: just one store, needs more locations, expand, please! more

I LOVE JavaVino 6/6/2005

This is a brilliant concept - i don't drink coffee but my husband loves it - now we have a place to go where i can drink fabulous wine and he can drink his favorite coffee. The wine/coffee bar pairing was a brilliant idea! Love the cheese plate too - hands down the best in the city - especially for low carb followers! Krista more

Great Place/Great People! 5/26/2005

This place is what this town needs. The coffee is by far the best in town, roasted right in the shop by one of the owners (Steve), and what these folks do that no one else does, is they actually import the coffee themselves from the other owners (Heddy's) family!! Then take a look at their wine list, they have over 120 bottles they serve and the price you pay for a glass of wine at JavaVino is almost always $2-$3 cheaper than the same wine at any other restaurant in Atlanta. Keep up the great work. Pros: Coffee, Wine, Patio Cons: need more locations more

Comfortable Respite with 2/23/2005

I strongly disagreement with the review written on 2/15. If someone wants quiet the library is a perfect place for solitude. JavaVino is quaint and cozy. It's popularity has increased so one is rarely alone. The coffee is superb. Smooth, rich and incredibly satisfying. Ditto for the wine selection. Try a cheese plate pairing with your wine. Excellent. JavaVino is a welcome edition to the neighborhood. more

Java Vino--no longer recommended 2/14/2005

Unfortunately, it looks like Java Vino is going downhill. I have been a ""regular"" for a number of months, but tonight was my last night. Over the last couple of months, the ambiance that one looks for in a coffee shop has deteriorated. From small children screaming to unfriendly staff, it has become difficult to carry on a conversation and relax. I hate to say it, but this ""mom and pop"" coffeeshop idea that I adored and supported will have one less customer. I do not recommend this cafe. more

Finally a good coffeehouse 7/18/2004

The coffee here is top notch due to the fact they import it direct and roast it in house. Decent wine list and fun pastries make it a good sit-out-on-the-patio type of coffeehouse. I wish it was bigger, but the atmosphere is excellent. Great new addition to the Highlands. Pros: Location, Fresh more
