Jansen Animal Hospital

I have been in this place several times and it is a maze of rooms all tiled with ceramic tile but the place is petrid, it stinks of urine. They have a hard time keeping employees. more

DO NOT TRUST THIS HOSPITAL !!! I took my 4 yr old cat, "Fatty" to be seen for treatment because he was having trouble urinating. I was told that he had crystals and when I could afford treatment, to bring him back to insert a catheter. I took him back 2 days later and admitted him for a 3 day stay. I called everyday for status, and never once received a call from anyone on staff. They kept him 2 additional days, because the doctor never released him, and when I picked him up, I received no discharge or after care treatment follow up papers. The doctor was not in and I was told he would contact me that day. I was however given 2 free cans of cat food, because the receptionist felt bad for the doctors negligence. Fatty died 3 days later, in terrible pain and I called the following morning to inform them of his death and the receptionist was shocked. She said, "he wasn't even that sick." On Friday my husband took our 11 yr old active pit bull to Jansen to get a cyst removed ($400) so we agree to the price! later they called to tell my husband that she had a tumor in her spleen that it needs to be removed, so my husband agreed to that and they suggested she gets spayed (at her age? really?) my dog was never the same after that! they butchered her!! she had no life in her eyes, she had no appetite, when she drank water she was throwing up, she was miserable!! we took her back to the vet to see why she was in so much pain and had no appetite, they told us that she was dehydrated so they put an IV in her and gave her a morphine patch and deliver the news that she had cancer!! WTF!!! WE WERE IN SHOCK!! why in the world didn't they give us more options like suggest to us not to open her up!! let her live as she was without the cyst! she was an older dog anyways!! our beloved pit bull died 5 days later! my family and friends are devasted! our dog was so loved and active!! Jansen's should have known that the surgery could and would kill her!! they only saw $$$ signs!! and took advantage of our love for our dog!! I will never go there or recommend them to anyone!! and how did they know she even had cancer if the biosy wasn't back yet? $1700 later they finally call the day she died but we didn't answer cause we were to busy mourning our dog!! SHAME ON THEM!!! more

My baby Chihuahua "SPIKE" is sick, but getting better at Jansen's. Went there today for an update, asked how my baby was doing. Got to visit him personally. Nothing but courtesy and compassion by the staff. Thank you and please save my "SPIKEY" I Love him. more

I just took my two dogs to Jansen Animal Hospital because our vet retired. This place is very organized. The receptionist was very nice and professional. She called them babies. They are my babies. The vet that gave the shots was really nice too. I'll stick with them. Oh, the place was really clean and no urine odors either. Really great prices too. Thank you Jansen Animal Hospital, you have my vote! more

I'm pretty surprised to read some of the bad reviews below. I have had nothing but the best experiences at Jansen's. I've been a client for many years. They have always been patient and go out of their way to answer all of my questions. I must admit that I tend to be very demanding and boy do I ask a lot of questions! But they have always been kind and willing to go that extra mile to satisfy and ease my mind. Which is not an easy thing to do. \r They keep the hospital very clean as well. When an animal has an accident, they immediately call someone to clean up the mess. Just an overall wonder place with great doctors!\r I highly recommend! more

The folks at Jansen Animal Hospital are courteous, respectful and extremely knowledgeable in the field that they practice. After taking my five year old pug (Daisy) to their offices, I've seen great improvements with her health and even further, I was given several treatment options to tailor a suitable life cycle plan.\r \r It's unfortunate that previous clients have had sour experiences when-in-fact, my time there was nothing but stellar!! The Vet said he thought my 4 month old puppy had Distemper, because his eyes were swollen and some Discharge. But after I declined the 90.00 Skin distemper test, he gave me 50 bucks worth of medicine for conjunctivitis (Dog Pink Eye). After 3 days of no sign of relief from my Pup Taco, i took her to another vet in Long Beach (review coming). As soon as the vet saw her he said Puppy Strangles he did a FREE skin biopsy which confirmed Puppy Strangles. Prescribed another medicine and now my pup is getting much better! Pros: friendly veterinarian Cons: nurse is also the secretary, i was rushed, misdiagnoses. more

the place smells horrible. Examining rooms filthy: Huge pee stains on chairs. Staff laughing and mocking those who bring animals in...talking loudly about customers in full hearing of those waiting in examining rooms. Disrespect. A simple visit turns into a long, unnecessary exam to add a lot of cost to the visit...all sorts of tests added on to bump up the charges. Staff rude and loud, making angry comments to customers in waiting room. Place needs an overhaul and an attitude adjustment. more

This is hands down the best animal hospital in the South Bay. The staff is not only friendly but very knowledgeable about all pets. They took great care of my dog when he was sick and eventually had to put down. I recommended them all my friends with pets and they love them! I will never forget how great they were with my dog. more

The staff are professionals. They saved our dog when other clinics and emergency rooms only wanted our money. We believe in Dr. Jansen and his staff and know that they are working professionals and experts in their field. We would recommend them to anyone in need of expert animal care. AVOID THIS HOSPITAL AT ALL COSTS! Due to doctor and staff incompetence, our dog DIED. We had been lucky enough to get her in to see another vet, about 2 days before she passed, who began the correct treatment for her, so we hope she at least went comfortably. Despite numerous attempts, from my family as well as the other veterinarian, Jansen hospital refuses to release the dog's records. If you love your pet, please save them and find a GOOD hospital, which this one is NOT. more

I have been taking my pets to Dr. Jansen and his staff for 4 years. They have been nothing but wonderful and professional and caring. Unfortunately, I had to put my dog to sleep last year. Dr. Jansen and his staff couldn't have been more helpful and caring during this difficult time. My other dog has had 2 knee surgeries with Dr. Jansen with great results. I also have 2 cats and a kitten that have been well taken care of at Jansen's Animal Hospital. I highly recommend Dr. Jansen and his staff to anyone in the South Bay with pets!!!! more

Jansen Animal Hospital USE TO BE wonderful. They use to help me and my family by working out financial arrangements and use to treat our pets well and would do everything they could for our pets. Now, there not so great, the staff is kind of rude. I have a rottweiler that is 10years old now, about 2 years ago I took my dog to get a check up because he wasn't doing not so well. So the doc. told me we had to put him to sleep soon but we decided not to take his advice. Since then my dog has been living for 2 more years than dr jansen expected and we seriously considered to put him down. I'm so glad we didn't. \r Also another time i took in one of my cats, a student dr. told me my cat was very sick(obviously if i took my cat in worried) and that's all he kept saying was "you're cat is very sick." Jansen animal hospital is the best animal hosp in the south bay. Their exceptional service and great dedication to the animals is heartwarming. When we took our "little" boy their for treatment they worked so tiredlessly. Unfortunately it was too late to help him, but they did everything within their limits to save him. Dr. Jansen and the staff at Jansen Animal Hospital is the reason why my best friend, Jimmy, is alive today. Jimmy was abandoned as a puppy and was found in a box in front of Jansen Animal Hospital. He was dying of parvo. Dr Jansen and staff immediately began treating him and saved his young life. They also went out of their way to find him a good home, that?s where I came into the picture. I adopted Jimmy from Jansen Animal Hospital 4 years ago while he was still undergoing treatment for parvo. Dr. Jansen continued treating him until he was completely cured without charging me a penny. I have been bringing Jimmy back for regular visits and have had nothing but good experiences. The staff at Jansen Animal Hospital are very helpful and friendly. Dr. Jansen is an amazing Doctor. He has helped Jimmy out with his skin allergies and even operated on his leg to help him walk better. I am a 23 yr. old girl that moved here from Texas for school. I have almost lost my apt., my car, and have temporarily dropped out of school to pay for vet bills that were not even necessary. Dr. Jansen almost killed my dog by putting him on the wrong medications, telling me my dog was older than what he was, although he fixed my dog, treated him since he was 7 months, vaccinated him. My dog growled at him and the staff and I thought it was because he was scared. NO! it was because he was mistreated and mis medicated and almost died. Save your animal, don't go here. They are rude, over priced and he might tell you to put your dog to sleep, after he takes all your money, and says he's doing you a favor. PROS: There are no pros CONS: He might kill your animal and smile while he's doing it more

Before getting my dog, I would always drive by this clinic and see the discount vaccines and discount services advertised for certain days of the week. I would think, "Wow." When I got my dog, I decided to take him there. It's best to say that I was not too satisfied with their services, being that it was too crowded and unorganized. My friend brought her dog here. He snapped at the doctor that was holding him. The doctor let go and dropped him, causing him to get a broken hip. I wouldn't go there again. more
