Janette is nice one minute and a lunatic the next. If you ask her anything about price, she'll tell you to take your dress to someone else to do the work if you like. She lies and her work is subpar at best. Her husband is sometimes at the shop or he'll answer the phone and he is equally rude and abrupt. This is not the experience that I want for myself or my bridesmaids. No one should have to wait week upon week to get results and Janette will give you a date and then not have your dress ready for a fitting. Her shop is old, dated and a mess. I was actually nervous to leave my gown with her. When I finally went for my fitting, the work was not finished and it wasn't done right. I told her I was taking my gown with me and she tried to charge me a ridiculous amount of money for all her "hard work" which I knew would have to be fixed by another tailor. I didn't feel that she deserved anything, but I just didn't want to deal with her anymore so I gave her half of what she asked for and I got out of there. I took my gown to someone a friend of mine had used and she did an incredible job - my gown was perfect on my wedding day. Please don't give Janette something as precious as your wedding gown, find someone who truly cares about their work and not their pocketbooks. more

Do not use this woman!! she will give you one price then at last fitting will fleece you for more money!!She dident even finish the seams on the dress had all the thread uncut!! Her work was very shabby!she is rude and a bully, the place is dirty!With the prices she she charges you would think the place would be inviting and clean!!She is just money grabbing.Sweet as pie to begin, then turns really nasty!! Please save your self all the hassle and upset,go else where!! more

After asking around, I brought my wedding gown to Janette. I had the straps shortened, hem taken up, and a bustle. She was fantastic. She was reliable and easy to work with. Three of my bridesmaids brought their dresses to her-- one of them with major work (she was losing weight after a baby) and they all came out beautifully! more

I took my Mother's wedding dress in to be radically altered for my own wedding. Janette's prices are reasonable, but she had my dress from February through August... and I asked her to have it completed by July. Not cool. I also have serious doubts about the level of her craftsmanship and professionalism. At one of my fittings, a waistline which we had pinned (straight) previously, was sewn completely on a diagonal. (Ummm? this is my WEDDING DRESS, could you bust out a measuring tape or something?!) So, needless to say, I have lost most of my confidence in her ability to finish anything nicely. Further, she told me to wait until after the fittings were completed before I got my dress cleaned. So, I did. But after I spoke with several restoration cleaners, I was informed by them that because of potential shrinkage issues, I should have had the dress cleaned BEFORE I had the alterations done. I have a "Plan B" in place. THANKFULLY. (IE: getting my dress cleaned after my alterations by Janette are done and then going to another dressmaker to clean-up whatever messes she made.) My suggestion? If you are using Janette for very simple things like hems or taking something in, she's worth it. But, if you need anything special altered and you need someone talented who pays attention to details- don't use her! more

Janette is a real find if you need tailoring, especially for expensive alterations like bridesmaid gowns. After getting ripped off previously I asked around and was sent to Janette. She said, "I give you very good price!" and wasn't kidding - she also gave me terrific, attentive service and was sensitive to my needs (i.e. a hem that looked good but wouldn't trip me if I danced). Definitely bring your shoes, but if you don't have 'em (I didn't) she has several pairs you can force yourself into so she can pin. She's a classic seamstress and I am sending everyone there for friendly and fairly priced tailoring. more

Janette is a miracle worker. She is so skilled at what she does. I referred all of my bridesmaids to have any alterations done by her. She was referred to me through an online wedding network and I am so glad I found her. While I had someone else alter my wedding gown, Janette’s hours and warm personality made her such a pleasure to work with that I could not forgo giving her business. After the great work she did for my own wedding, I am planning on having her alter many of my clothes this fall. Professional, kind and great work! more
