Who are these people writing horrible reviews???? 1/11/2012

I have grown up in retail. The misconception of high end specialty stores is that the staff is snobby, rude, and unapproachable. I call it the ""pretty woman"" effect. People are immediately uncomfortable around high end, excellent quality goods. We walk through wal-mart like it's an open air market, but we tread lightly through expensive furniture galleries and clothing boutiques. Our reaction to a shopping environment is directly related to the price tags that surround us. I would testify that these individuals that took the time to write such horrible reviews about Jamie walked in with, not only a chip on their shoulder, but an opinion already formed. The sales team at Jamie is probably the most versed in all of Nashville. They are professional stylists and wardrobe specialists- not a handful of college girls who wouldn't know german sizing from french. They are there to help women (and their male counterparts) navigate the ever-changing world of fashion, and Jamie itself always offers a well-edited selection of the season's finest. The over-sized oak front door is a little intimidating and confusing when trying to get in, (you have to push the call button and wait for the light to turn green) but once inside, I can assure the staff is approachable, friendly, and ready to help! Bad reviews come from bad attitudes. I recommend you stop by Jamie and see for yourself that it remains nashville's premier specialty store for a reason. more

Mediocre and Spotty Merchandise 1/8/2012

All I have to say about Jamie is....meh. Aside from the wonderful Jody and Jill (the brother-sister duo who run the salon upstairs), and lovely jewelry, there is very little that stands out. They claim to have ""designer"" goods, and they do-- but they have about one piece, in one size, from each collection, and it is all very oddly merchandised. I find it difficult to shop the store because of this reason. The only contemporary line that they seem to have extensive investment in is Tory Burch, and that lays heavily on the shoes. That said, we have a Tory Burch store at the Mall at Green Hills, which houses the complete collection...I feel that I can safely say that we would all rather go to the mall. The only other contemporary line that they seem to have is a bit of Theory, which is very plain. It all just looks like same.It ..like a tired showroom! A beautiful idea, but all I ever hear (and experience from a personal standpoint) is that everyone just goes in ""to look around"", but almost always leaves empty-handed. The solution to this problem? It seems that Jamie would benefit from a bit of imagination, MORE contemporary lines, and a new buyer. more

The most HELPFUL salesperson I've ever experienced !!!!! 8/13/2011

My wife and I moved here from Dallas in March . After hearing about how bad the shopping is in Nashville for a month from my wy wife a business associate told me about an upscale womans store that i should checkout called Jamies. I really hate shopping but i hate my wife being unhappy more! After dreading this shopping trip for a couple weeks i finally decided to take the bull by the horns and headed on in , when i entered the store i was imediately greeted by a very attractive lady that i could tell had great style, Teri instantly asked me several question that immediately set me at ease . She walked me around the store showing some really beautiful things (I love my wife to look and feel beautiful ) after looking and talking about things we finally decided on a handbag ( I've learned over the years a great handbag is the best gift other than diamonds) ! Teri was so helpful.! I cant say enough good things about her . Since then I've introduced my wife to her and she no longer feels the shopping is bad in Nashville . Teri helps her look awesome all the time I I recomend Teri to anyone she's pretty has great style and always ready to help with a smile , I""d give her 100 stars if I could ! more

despite the reviews, give Jamie's a chance! 5/21/2010

These reviews are laughable. The lovely employees couldn't be more wonderful! Much like the other reviewers, I walk in wearing NOTHING special, not carrying a designer handbag - because I don't own one- and they always give me the most excellent service. For the past three years they have helped me find the most stunning gowns, on a modest budget. Their selection is the best, and the service is delightful. I feel very grateful to have a store like Jamie in Nashville. I'll never have to dry to Atlanta or hope to find something in NYC, because I know I can count on them to have the best selection. I have never left empty handed or disappointed. I will be a customer for life & I highly recommend the lovely shop. Pros: Selection, service, great sales Cons: ??? more

i don't think the employees at Jamie care about customer service--I doubt the owner does either or else they would correct the un-necessary snotty attitudes of their staff. Pros: none that i canthink of more

Too bad 11/14/2007

Here is the tragedy: Jamie has a great selection and quality clothes...not all tasteful but that's personal. It is a wonderful 'shot in the arm' for shopping in Nashville. But the service is some of the worst I have ever seen and I have lived in New York, Paris and London and the salespeople in Jamie act as if they are superior to all. I walked in with a simple sweater, flats, and black pants (w/glasses) and asked about certain designers. They cld barely raise their eyes to look at me and point in the direction. No smile, no welcome to Jamie's etc. I am stunned they continue in the business. Apparently, they later heard about my visit from a friend and were apologetic etc...that doesn't work! Life is too short for that attitude! more

Rude. Bad Selection. Attitudes Galore. Run, Don't Walk, Away from Jamie's. 9/29/2007

Horrible selection, horrible service. Like the other reviewers, I had $$ to spend here but was ignored. The only salesperson with any bit of charm is the shoes assistant. I do not understand the basis for the sales assistants' attitudes - they are working in a second-rate, wannabe designer shop, that, like others have pointed out, has a horrible buyer. Good brands, yes, but small selection and nothing showstopping or worthy of the prices or attitudes. Old lady wear indeed. And the clientele -- I watched one woman literally kiss up to the sales assistants and yet eyeball me up and down, and gave me a look when I said ""bless you"" after she sneezed! In my opinion, this place is not worth anyone's time or trouble unless you are equally as unpleasant as the customer I came across today. Hopefully some day someone will open up a rival boutique or we get the Nordstroms as rumored so that the sales assistants will be required to change their attitude b/c Nashville will no longer be hostage to Jamie's for its designer wear. For those reading this for insight on whether they should go to Jamie's -- go to Habit or Hemline (in the new Green Hills shopping area), or make the drive to Emeline's or Abby and Jessie's in Franklin and Cool Springs, or fly to NYC if you have to. There are nicer sales assistants out there that deserve the commission. more

Jamie, Not so Much! 7/1/2007

1 dont understand the attitude of the sales staff...the selection is just 'average at best for a store of this type more

Old Lady Style Selection!! Mean salespeople. 1/25/2007

Jamie's is terrible. I am always dressed up and carring an It bag, so I always get great treatment. However, I've seen them be completely nasty to my mother who never dresses up but has WAY more money than I do. Jamie's has okay brands, but the buyer is terrible. How can anyone say that this is a NY store? They buy old lady black jackets and cheeesy wedding shoes. Their selection just leaves alot to be desired. And I dare say it is probably out of insecurity that they are so nasty because people in NY boutiques with much better clothes are actually much much nicer. Two thumbs down. Pros: Parking Cons: Old lady style. Bad selection. Mean sales people. more

The shopping options in Nashville basically suck, but Jamie is a life saver. I just love the selection and their tent sale always has wonderful bargains. Rita is one of the best salespersons there and I look forward to seeing her whenever I'm in the neighborhood. more

Why the poor reviews? 9/4/2003

I just moved here from Chicago, and I was on the hunt for the cool local boutiques since I am not much of a mall shopper. I walked in looking barely legal - jeans, tshirt, ponytail - and I was not ignored. My sales lady was friendly and helpful. I picked up a sweet cashmere sweater. This is the only that compares to the shops in Chicago - it's a mini-Barneys! Killer selection of shoes. Love the contemporary section in back. Glad to see they carry my fave skincare - Kiehl's. For those turned off by the less-than-stellar reviews, give it a chance. I will be going back. Pros: selection, helpful, one stop shop more

Like the store in pretty woman.. 4/3/2003

What is up with this place?? I have money to spend, folks, don't look at me when I walk in in jeans and tennis shoes like I am a crazy mutant. I thought I could find a nice dress here, and I admit their selection is decent, but I couldn't stand the salespeople's bristly manners, staring at me like I was going to steal something. That person was right, it is kind of like the reject NYC, I know because I lived there. Jamie could NEVER compare, and most of the salespeople up there are always nice. Where is the southern hospitality??? Pros: selection, parking Cons: Salespeople, makeup lady gone more

Snooty with a capital S 2/7/2003

I've never been in this store when the salespeople weren't rude and sometimes insulting. The clothes may be fabulous, but I would rather shop ANYWHERE than Jamie. Customer service is very important to me and you will not receive it here. Cons: rude, pretentious, not helpful more

Snobs @ their best 11/2/2002

If your not famous, live in 37205 or 37215 zip codes or part of the A-lsit forget it. These arrogant people will not even give you the time of day much less offer to be of help. The jeweler has now gone out on her own as well as the cosmetic and skincare manger. Kinda says ""Something isn't right here."" Will not shop here due to the elitist attiude of management and sales personnel. Pros: great designer lines, small showroom, in house credit Cons: snobby & to expensive, poor parking, not receptive to teen more

I'll give them credit in the sense they do try. I can't say the staff have been overly rude to me. Sure occasionally they're not the friendliest but for the most part I've always been treated well and I'm only 21yrs old. I do have to say that the selection isn't that great and definitely not that trendy or even classic. People who compare it to NYC must have never been to NYC. It's kinda like the rejected store of NYC. On the positive side though, I can always find a pair of shoes there that I could use in either the business world or going out. I really like the shoe department lady as well. She has always been more than kind. Pros: designer, shoes Cons: selection, style more
