James Anthony Salon & Spa

After moving from the city to Oak Park, I tried several different salons before finding James Anthony. Jackie does my hair, and she does a great job. My highlights look natural and my cut is very flattering. She listens to what I want, but isn't afraid to make suggestions about new style options. I think the prices are comparable to other salons in the area ($160 for a cut and highlight). Plus, they give all clients an amazing head massage, which is so relaxing! Jackie has been cutting my hair for some time now and I love her. She knows how to cut my hair to fit the shape of my face. Also Sharri has been waxing my eye brows for a little over two years and I wont change her for the world!!! I love how friendly the staff is. They all make me feel at home. Tina has been doing my hair for 11 years and I am so happy with her, the whole experience, and the PM products I use. She totally listens to me and also offers her opinion. She is extremely nice, a perfectionist with my cut and color and I cannot imagine her being rude to a client. In fact, I have witnessed her being extremely patient with a rude client before and she was professional all the way. Yes they do believe in their product and she tells me what she uses and then leaves it up to me if I want to buy. I have always felt informed, but not pressured. Don't waste your money! I wish I would have read the reviews before going to this place!! Because then I would have never gone. I simply went there to have some highlights put in my hair. I was given all of these ridiculous treatments that I was told would be needed since I had recently colored my hair. I was there for 3 hours and was charged an ABSURD amount of money. The final result.....no highlights at all just a flat ugly hair color. I would have looked better had I bought a $9.00 box of hair color at the drugstore. That way I could have used the money I paid for this miserable botched up job and buy an airline ticket for a domestic flight somewhere. I'll never go back! more

This salon is top notch. I received a warm welcome and professional service from the time I entered the salon until the time I left. I was thrilled with my new look. They had a magical way of fitting my facial features to my cut and color . I never thought I would look good with shorter hair. I was afraid to try something new, but they assured me what would work and they were RIGHT! I have complete confidence in their ability. The owner, Jim, was very insightful and helpful. I went to this so called Beauty salon twice and both times the messed up my color. never go there they dont listen and they do what they want and they had the new girl on the floor cut my hair i cant remember her name but it was so horrible it was uneven and had no style to it what so ever. worst haircut of my LIFE. be warned. All I can say is how bad this place is it may look nice on the outside, but this salon is terrible. They tell you what you want and they charge OUTRAGOUS prices $75 for a haircut get out of here. I have gone here may times given them may changes but finally enough is enough. All you hear about is Paul Mitchell its like a cult very strange the owner acts like hes best friends with the man...whatever. And never get your hair cut by the owners wife shes rude and a witch. she cut my hair twice and when she was done as i walked out the back door i heard her in the break room talking bad about me. The front desk girl (younger 1) so rude couldnt even smile at me. They let their helpers who arent out of school yet put the color on. thats where i drew the line when you're paying that much money the stylist should do it. the helper put my color on washed it and styled me but yet i paid the stylist $215 for what to talk about me. This salon is very unprofessional. The owner looks like a bumb! He stays in a leather coat, torn jeans and cuts hair. I wouldn't want him to touch mine! They have been without a massage therapist for three months and have no plans to hire a new one! more
