Too expensive 9/19/2009

I was at Jack Russell's with some friends for a football game, I have to admit the place looks nice but it was def. not worth the price. We had some food and beers but wow was i shocked with those ridiculous prices and tip already added on our bill. Now i now why they call it jack russells, cause they are as sneaky as the dogs. Pros: lots of tv's Cons: Are they serious with their prices! more

AS RUDE AS YOU CAN GET 9/17/2009

I went to Brady's to play a game of pool but they were having some party their so the pool table was covered with food. My next option was Jack Russells so I headed their and played a couple games and had a few beers. First of all their pool tables s*ck along with those sticks they supply and on top of that they ask for $2.00 a game. Irrelevant I continued to play and have a good time. I went home that night and realized the next morning I forgot my card, so my girl and I head back the next day to settle the bill and maybe even grab a drink. The bar tender was not able to find my card so nicely asks the owner who screams WHAT in her face with his beer in his right hand and a fake rolex in the left, haha. Anyhow he goes to get my card and rudely said it was declined, He was so rude both my girlfriend, me and not to forget his friend were all in shock. I said dont worry we are going to settle the bill, I obviously was their because i wanted to pay and get my card. Anyhow I paid my bill and told him he was very rude. I sincerely hope he is the owner otherwise I would suggest the owner considers looking for the tall american guy with the fake rolex. all this for $34, nice job as*hol*. HIGHLY RECCOMEND BRADY'S BAR, great staff, nice owner & good people. Cons: owner is alcoholic and rude more

Great sports bar 6/19/2009

Jack Russells is a great place to grab a drink and watch a game. They have telivision sets all over including mini one;s right at the bar directly in front of you. I highly reccomment this place to anyone who is looking for a nice bar to watch some games with friends. Pros: TV's all over more

Chill Place 8/23/2008

Cool music nice staff and TONS OF SPACE. IT's also located in a prime spot which is on the upper east side on 2nd ave. So bar hopping is easy. more

Scary Atmosphere 8/5/2008

The manager is an absolute maniac... he screams at the bartenders and dj like nobodies business.. My friends and I were horrified!! Overall the place was OK, but I'm not sure I wanna be in that scene again! Dollar mugs have their appeal but that only goes so far.. more

Cool Spot! 5/30/2008

I had a nice time here. Great atmosphere, cool staff, cooler drinks. I will refer my friends to this bar/lounge. Go sometime and lounge or hang with friends for a birthday party or whatever! more

Ultimate Sports bar 4/19/2008

I'm from Pennsylvania and just moved here after college last year. i LOVE this bar! \r BEER ROCKETS are the best thing ever!! I've never seen these before but it's like two pitchers in this huge tower thing. AND you have tvs everywhere and in your booth too. I was sitting in the middle of the bar last night and they even get Phillys games. awesome. The girls are really cool that work there and you can ask them to put different games on and they'll do it. it gets kinda crowded for big games and they won't take reservations so get there early, especially if you want a booth. my favorite bar in the neighborhood by far.\r \r Pros: tvs, sports, bartenders/waitresses Cons: bring back the beer can buckets!! (why don't you have blonde waitresses???) more

Great Food, 50/50 shot at good service 4/16/2008

I moved to the area a few months back & have just started coming to Jack Russell's. I had two very different experiences in the same week. I was there on a Tuesday night, it was a quiet crowd & the service was great! The bartender was super friendly & stayed on top of my drinks very well. I then returned on Friday night to a busier bar, and disappointing service. The bartenders acted as if i was bothering them by asking for my drinks repeatedly. But everytime I have been there, the food has been great & i have had a great time. Pros: The food, the drinks, the TVs more

always a good time 4/13/2008

I love this bar! it's in my neighborhood, and i've been coming here since i moved to the ues. great food, good selection of beers on draft, n the girls on staff are friendly n actually kno about sports, which is cool. I'm from the midwest n i always bring my friends when they're in b/c the bartenders will find your game for you-tons of tvs! the pitchers n some shots are a little overpriced, but not a big deal if you come in with a group. Definitely recommend it Pros: tv's, burgers, staff, BUCKHUNTER Cons: the mirrors in the men's room! more

Best sports bar on upper east 4/13/2008

I went here for the yanks-sox game saturday and it was awesome. The bartenders are smokin and friendly. There are t.v.'s everywhere so there isn't a bad spot. I had a burger which was awesome. I just moved to the upper east and feel like Jack Russel's will be home base while I'm here. I'm looking forward to football season to be able to watch all the games. Pros: t.v.'s, waitresses/bartenders, food more

Great sports bar 4/13/2008

Went there recently to watch the basketball playoffs - the place was great! The tvs are great, and the service was friendly and efficient. TV's EVERYWHERE! Good atmosphere, and is a great neighborhood bar with good food. Definitely will be going back watch a game or two. more

Do you know the Muffinman? 3/31/2008

Was there a few weeks ago on a Friday night, had never been before but living a few blocks away I figured I would check it out. The place has a pretty good atmosphere and we got a seat at the bar. Everything was going well until the bartender approached us with her horrific muffintop protruding out of her three sizes too small stone washed jeans and a black baby tee circa 1992, shortly after ordering my bud light bottle, I realized that her bottle opener was strategically placed in the back of her pants touching the skin of her butt, needless to say I immediately changed my order to a draft. Soon after that we decided to order some wings, when our wings arrived she came over and proceeded to eat celery off of our plate. If I'm not mistaken one of the cardinal rules of being in the service industry is not eating off of your customers plates. She was the foulest bartender I have ever seen. If you go, I would sit at one of the tables and stick to anything that does not require the use of a bottle opener. more

What happened? 3/10/2008

I was there a couple of weekends ago, and was apaulled by the bartenders! You have one girl, though very friendly with the customers, nobody could really take her seriously because her body was hanging out of her clothes! The other one, not very friendly at all.Very rude. Slightly bossy. Almost like she had something to prove to somebody. But we were only customers! The only thing that she had to prove to me was that she could pour a drink. More than once. Preferably when there is an empty one sitting in front of me for minutes at a time. It was as if she was waiting for me to start shouting to let her know. Quite frankly, I was afraid to try! Wow. A year ago, you would see me there all of the time! I forgot why i stopped. Now i remember. The fun left. Pros: Tvs and it's potential. Cons: The new female bartenders. more

Mini-burgers to die for! 8/27/2007

I got there on a Friday night around 9. The place wasn't too crowded and the staff was very efficient and friendly. They seemed to remember everyone's drinks. They served some of the best mini-burgers I've had in the city; I need to find out how they seasoned them! The crowd picked up around 11. Everyone was having a great time -- shooting pool, watching several games at once on the TVs, and looking for a favorite song on the jukebox. If you're looking for a fun, low-key neighborhood hangout, I highly recommend this one. Pros: The mini-burgers! Cons: It's a neighborhood hangout kind of place, so don't expect frills. more

Nice place, bar tender/manager needs an attitude adjustment 6/8/2007

Good looking sports bar with plenty of TVs to view your choice of sporting event, if your lucky enough to get a booth. If you happen to be sitting at the bar and the sports event you want to watch is not on in front of you, forget about asking the rude bar tender/manager to change the channel. The bald headed bar tender is not only rude, he has no idea how to treat people who were planning on spending the night drinking and\r eating. We took our business across the street to Ship of Fools and we were glad we did. more

Lots of TVs, best bar food in the city! 5/10/2007

The staff is not rude, more like ""direct."" Do you really want to have hour long conversations with strangers anyway? Regardless, best bar food in town--yummy miniburgers, curly fries, and a turkey burger so good I swear it's beef. I always thought the staff there was fantastic! Really good waitstaff who are always on the ball, and the bartenders never forget a drink! Pros: Good Drinks, Food more

Great Beer Selection & Food - Rude Bartender 4/30/2007

There are a lot of things about this place that I love. They have a tons of TVS - good place to watch sports. Like the food and beer selection. But what I do not understand is the female bartender who works during Friday Happy Hour. She is snotty, rude and not to mention when you sit at the bar she will never ask if you want a drink refill or pre-bus your plates. I had to ask her to take away my plates and get me another drink - every time. They were not busy either. And another thing....she's not even anything to look at. I do not get it! This has happened with her more than once. Get rid of this chick and you are all set with a great place all-around. Pros: food, drinks Cons: bartender more

Avoid the mini burgers 11/2/2006

Went to Jack Russell's last night for Thursday night football, expecting a good scene. And when I say good scene I mean more than 10 people.......I didn't get it. The place did have some good qualities: Tons of TV's, lots of space, and.........BUCK HUNTER! but that wasn't enough to take my attention away from the horrible food. Take my advice stay away from the mini burgers and the tatter tots. The meat they used for the burgers tasted like one of the raccoons I shot in Buck Hunter and if you like fried batter go for the tots you will love them. I am not here to bash the place, although it sounds like it. The service and staff were outstanding, just get new recipe for your burgers. I know what your thinking, ""why is this guy writing about mini burgers."" Well all I have to say is.......They were that bad. more

Great place to watch games 10/16/2006

tons of TV's, tons of space to watch TV's. decent service. the only thing i would NOT recommend ordering is the nachos. it was basically 10 tostito chips, but they were even lower quality than tostitos. and it was just covered in mush (sour cream, guacamole, chili), and you couldn't even pick up a chip without getting your hands covered.\r \r everything else was awesome though. more

value 5/12/2006

This is one of the only bars left on the Upper East Side still serving a TRUE full pint. Staff is awesome most with an Irish accent. If you are after a great time without having a $50 tab after a couple of drinks this is my favorite pick in the neighborhood Pros: Value, true pints, great crowd more
