Best

Had to take a second to post a good review - the one (and only) time I have been there which was just a few months ago, the staff could not have been friendlier. My 1.5 year old s...

Worst

The food is just okay for a high end, top of the line LA restaurant. It is fresh and tasty but in my opinion not really special but the Ivy at the Shore is more for the atmosphere.

Had a very HOT date here! 8/11/2005

I have been with my honey for a couple years now. Coming here made us feel like we were ""new"". I picked this place because it was a special occasion for us. I've heard the BH location is better, but I much prefer the beach. We had a dark corner table right a dusk. The boardwalk was all alit and the ocean was on fire. Beautiful! I had the most awesome ""Grilled Vegetable Salad w/ Grilled Shrimp""! It was an entree dish and I was in the mood for light. My honey had the Swordfish, he liked it alot! It was a very memorable and romantic evening. One I still think about. Hope you try it! Pros: Romantic, Delicious, Great Locale more

Fine Dining at the Shore 6/27/2005

Located right near the Santa Monica Pier, Ivy at the Shore is a great place to have a very nice meal and spot a few celebrities. They make great smoothies and amazing desserts. And while the service is not astounding, it is definitely better than the Ivy in Beverly Hills. Pros: Great Desserts, Great Food, Location Cons: No Parking more

Over Priced 5/23/2005

I thought this place was over priced, over crowded and over rated. Not as good as you would expect from the hype. They try to cram too many people in a little area therefore causing the waiters to bump into your chair each time they walk by. Because it's located in Santa Monica, you get too many tourist. Pros: Great location, Nice ambience, Celeb siting Cons: Over Rate, Over Priced, Crowded more

A Nice Meal 7/26/2004

My husband and I go to Ivy at the Shore every Valentine's Day and have never been disappointed. I love the steamed clams appetizer as well as the crab cakes. I also love the famous Ivy Gimlets for drinks, yummy! For dinner I usually get the prime rib and it is usually HUGE and very delicious. I have a whole meal left over for the next day. The atmosphere is very casual (it is the beach after all) and the service has always been very sharply attentive and friendly. Pros: Strong Gimlets, Large portions Cons: , Expensive more

Not worth it. 6/9/2003

Passive, slow, impersonal and casual serivce. Most dishes try to be gourmet imitations. Overpriced, for the quality of dishes served. Not much of an atmosphere to speak of on a Saturday brunch. Clientele, mostly has beens. Funky and very feminine decor. Pros: Good music, funky decor, good for ladies lunch Cons: OVERPRICED, poor service, passive staff more

They don't care 12/10/2002

I have eaten at the Ivy, so I thought that i new what to expect. I was amazed at the poor, inattentive service, the long wait for cold food and the lack of any concern by the management. more

not bargain 11/22/2002

i could not find the $20 tacos. they had every other fast food with an extra zero in the price, so i was very disappointed and would suggest kfc or taco bell. Pros: nice waitress, cool stuff on walls Cons: food, cost, cost!! more

overrated 10/27/2002

way too pricey for an ordinary menu...30 dollard for fried chicken!! and they do not know how to make manhattans... Pros: location Cons: expensive more

The ice cream sunday is the best! 7/30/2002

great service - great crab cakes and a nice place to hang out. more

an exquisite evening 6/25/2002

The food and service were exquisite. It is expensive, but worth it. The ambience is somewhat retro 50's. The drink menu was sort of an updated Trader Vic's. My wife had the Gin Rickey and I had a Pimm's. The food combined varied tastes, and was excellent. It was Californian, not Cajun as mentioned in another review. Our concierge at Loew's recommended it and I tipped him appropriately. With location, ambience, service and food I would make it one of my favorites. Pros: quality of food, ambience, service Cons: expensive & worth it more

It's a Shore Thing 5/19/2002

There's something about this spot that never fails to please. Maybe it's the setting (the views at sunset are fantastic), or maybe it's the decor (the pineapple-trimmed china is adorable), but most likely it's the mint juleps. Those minty potent concoctions will make whatever you're eating--or whomever you're dining with--look appealing. Pros: stiff drinks Cons: pricey more
