Isles

I am very disappointed in the service or lack there of we received. We went there for dinner and was unaware that we needed reservations. I immediately felt unwelcome. We were told 20 mins wait and we would get a seat. We waited then after 25 mins we were told it would be at least another 45 mins. The ladies @ the desk were very rude and we even heard a man say that he was more concerned with the people WITH reservations. You really have it posted that its a reservation only restaurant and they didn't seem very kid friendly. I don't appreciate the time that we wasted sitting there. We did not eat there and will never go back! more

The Isles probably has the best location for a restuarant on the island. Unfortunately that is about all it has going for it. If you are looking for a nice place to sit outside and have a drink, by all means check out their tiki bar. If you are looking for an outstanding place for dinner, keep looking. The food is below average, the portions are small (and I'm a very lite eater) and the service is just poor. The servers do as little as possible and make you quite aware they will do absolutely no more than is necessary. I'm a local and I was really excited that we would have an upscale place to take our guest, but after 4 dissapointing experiences I can't bring myself to give them any more chances. We really liked this restaurant and went back several times. The food was truly outstanding, especially the crabcakes and daily catch (we liked the grilled Mahi Mahi). While the interior isn't perfect, it is very nice. They have beautiful Casablanca-style fans and white linen table cloths. We found the outside corner table to be our favorite. You have 180 degree ocean views and a nice breeze. The service was a little slow outside, so if A+ service is big to you, I'd reserve an inside table for dinner. The building housing The Isles is impressive, but its cavernous interior does not make for an intimate dining experience. It is as if it were designed with the acoustics of a concert hall. Everything said at every table reverberates across the room creating a cacophony that leaves one unable to concentrate on anything besides leaving. The service was sub par, especially for what one would expect for a restaurant in this price range. After taking our order our halfhearted waiter only made one more appearance to make sure that we had everything we needed his tone of voice implying that he would not be back. The food was actually pretty good but not good enough to make up for an otherwise very disappointing anniversary dinner. Cons: NOISY, below average service more
