It took a friend getting a job here to finally try this place. Having driven by it so many times without paying attention, it was a very pleasant surprise, and the great food will bring you back. It has a "found this restaurant while on vacation" feel, both because of the bright and somewhat tropical decor and because it is located right beside a hotel. The theme is based on birds with sandwiches, soups, and salads being named after different ones. This makes the menu an interesting read.
We've always had good wait staff, and they're also accommodating to larger parties. We also had a surprise party on the patio for someone which turned out well.
As far as the food goes, the Scarlet Ibis on a pretzel is far and away my favorite. They pretzels are soft and fresh... can't remember if they make them in-house. However, I've never had a bad meal there. They used to have fantastic peanut-butter pie, but you might also try their cookies, now. Also, if you're a local, sign up for their e-mails. You'll get coupons and birthday dessert.
