worst place in Monterey, don't waste your time! 12/8/2008

Terribile was the lowest rating which doesn't even fit this place. trying to get a seat outside is a joke, and for some random reason they seem to only like to open one bar and keep the other one closed when the place is clearly in need of more than one bartender serving a place with 100 plus people all drinking!!!. The so called ""owner"" is typically drunk amlost every time I've been there and he seem to be more of a problem than the actual customers trying to get a drink. Pros: Never Cons: Everything more

Very nice place 10/1/2008

everything is realy good they make everything fresh ,great food ,nice seating inside and out they have two firepits outside and outdoor heaters all around the patio .i dont know what these people are talking about store bought food below because i had naan that came with my order and it was fresh, and i also had pakoras and i know how fresh pakoras taste like because i have friend whos indian and i got to his house all the time and eat indian food everytime i go there .so i know how fresh Indian food taste like sometime his mom makes pakoras and i just cant eat enough of that. more

Dissapointing experience 9/24/2008

We agree with Caligirl. The good reviews must be from employees. The food here is store bought from the local indian stores available in the frozen section. They then quadruple the price before serving it. The samosas on the appetizer menu are from the Deep brand. Even the main course was from the ready to cook frozen section. The lassi had an aftertaste and did not taste fresh. Would avoid this place. They have no business ethics. Cons: Everything more

Amazing place 6/29/2008

You should try this place its really GOOD!!!! I've been here a couple time for lunch buffet and dinner - the food was equally good both times. I am an Indian and I should tell you that it was one of best places for Indian food. The food really tantalized my taste buds reminding me of India. I went there once on a Friday night for a Hookah available in many different flavors(amazing) and after that I enjoyed the drinks at the bar and the DJ was awesome, he played music from all parts of the world - Indian, Spanish, Arabic and what not. Pros: Ambiance, Food, Service, Hookah bar Cons: Reservation needed on weekends specially.... more

Best restaurant in Monterey 6/29/2008

One of the finest Indian cuisine I've ever had. That tasty sizzling chicken tandoori was mouth watering and delicious. The ambiance of the place with open space and a fire pit, you would definitely love it. I just came to Monterey a few days back and now I am glad that I am here with the beauty of Monterey and also some nice places to hang out - Indian Summer is awesome....food - hookah - drinks-music more

Never Again! 6/4/2008

I used to like coming to this place, but I am sorry to say, last night will be my last time. I have NEVER in all my life been treated so rudely as a customer. It started when the bartender gave me back the wrong credit card (which looked exactly like mine). I signed the receipt and left. When I realized I had the wrong card, I returned and handed it back to the bartender. Instead of apologizing, he proceeded to accuse me of STEALING the credit card...and moreover, he told me that MY credit card was FAKE and handed it back to me. To my horror, it was severely bent in several places, and was cracked down the middle. They were completely unapologetic, insisted it was like that when I gave it to them, and continued to act as though I had tried to walk out on my tab. You could not PAY me to come back here ever again! more

One of my favorite restaurants in Monterey 2/13/2006

I have been consistently impressed with this restaurant. And, our Valentine's Day date was no exception. The food is excellent and reasonably priced for a nice night out on the Peninsula. It stands head-and-shoulders above the scores of mediocre, over-priced, pretentious restaurants that abound in the area. The waitstaff is very friendly and extremely attentive. The lamb Rogan Josh and the garlic naan are both delicious! Pros: Good Food, Nice Atmosphere Cons: Finding Parking more

Worst place for food! hookah is good. 8/4/2005

the worst indian meal i have ever had! (i'm indian, i should know!) the naan is from the freezer section of the local indian grocery store, instead of freshly made in a tandoori oven like most restuarants do. Nothing is homemade and fresh, all store bought. Waiters aren't smart- we a 15% discount off our meal, and the waiter took off 5%. We pointed out his mistake, and he said he couldn't figure it out on the cash register, so he told us he gave us a 20% discount. That 20% discount was actually only 11%...we still did not get our 15% discount and left. The hookah is good. I think the people who wrote good reviews for this place actually work there, because there is no possible way that this food was remotely palatable (or for that matter edible). Pros: hookah Cons: bad food, expensive bad food, dumb and slow waiters more

Unique Indian Oasis Near the Wharf 7/15/2005

Although the food is quite good at Indian Summer, the real reason to go is to enjoy a few drinks and smokes on the hookah amidst the relaxing outdoor seating behind the restaurant. Part of the outdoor seating is covered in a desert canopy and the other portion is surrounded by heating lamps and a few open brick fire pits. Few places in Monterey match the surprisingly unique atmosphere of this venue. Pros: Ambience, Food, Value Cons: Finding It more

VERY VERY GOOD! 7/31/2004

I've eaten at a number of Indian restaurants in the San Francisco Bay area and I have to say that this is still some of the best Indian food Ive ever had! This is currently my favorite restaurant in Monterey. Very fun place. You can get a hookah with flavored tobacco! Great drinks. Good prices. Pros: Food, Prices Cons: , None more
