I have been spending the winters in Tucson since 1999. When I first discovered 'India Oven' about 5 years ago, it was one of my favorite places to go! In fact, the only reason I didn 't go to their lunch buffett every day was because it was SO delicious that it was impossible to stop stuffing myself to the point of being in pain.
When we got back in town 2 years ago, we found the food quality had dropped to where it was just nothing special, so we didn't go back.
Yesterday I drove past and decided to stop in for lunch. There was hardly anyone else there. I stood in the restaurant for about five minutes before someone finally appeared from the back and indicated I should take a seat. The buffet had what appeared to be a good selection, but upon closer inspection the meat looked grisly grey and twisted, and each selection seriously watered down and swimming in grease.
But, I filled my plate anyway, and could have saved time just pouring the stuff directly into the toilet. Not only was the food swimming in water and grease on my plate, but in was only LUKE WARM at best. I can't say it tasted bad, because it really had no taste at all, just a rather gruel-like texture, each selection indistinguishable from the next.
All this for only $7.35? With absolutely no service? Forget about it! I dumped all that was left on my plate in the garbage to make sure it wasn't "recycled" and left India Oven for the final time! What a shame!
