Independence College Of Cosmetology

The College was founded in 1960 by Don and Leila Cohoon and is now directed by their daughter, Linda Clifford, who started her career in 1972. The College enjoys a national, as well as international, reputation for quality education and plays an active part in the local business community. Courses are offered in Esthetics, Cosmetology and Instructor Training. Independence College of Cosmetology follows a curriculum set forth by CIDESCO for the Esthetics course. CIDESCO is an international organization for Estheticians, headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. Independence College of Cosmetology was the second college in the United States to achieve certification as a CIDESCO training facility. The Esthetics curriculum encompasses such topics as skin analysis, facials, make-up, body treatments, full body massage, manicures, pedicures and hair removal to name a few. The College has expanded the curriculum to include microdermabrasion, which is fast becoming a popular service in the beauty industry.
