Although Ideal Moving and Storage company advertises that its goal is to make a move as stress-free as “humanly possible,” it subjected me and my 96-year-old mother to one of the most stressful experiences of our lives. We were transporting some of my mother’s belongings 150 miles to an assisted living facility. Ideal planned to accomplish this in one day, and we accordingly arranged for them to arrive at the apartment at 8 a.m. I re-confirmed this plan three days in advance. On moving day, we waited all day, frequently calling and being given various explanations for the delay and false assurances about when they would show up. They finally arrived at 4 p.m., too late to do much at all, and they were obligated to return the next day to effect the move. I was promised that some accommodation would be made on the price to compensate for the breach of the contract and the extreme anxiety caused by their negligence.\r Next day an extra team showed up at 8:00 and efficiently loaded the truck. Upon arrival at the destination the movers, acting on instructions from the office, insisted on being paid in full in cash before they would begin unloading. Weeks earlier we had contracted for an hourly rate of $110, with an estimate of $990 plus tolls and materials. I had originally been assured that at most the job would take an extra hour, or $110 additional. But now, having agreed to “work with me” on the price, they demanded $1745, in cash, on the spot, or else they would not unload the truck. This included a $300 charge for “materials” which consisted of very few cartons (we had supplied the rest), a modest amount of tape, and a little bubble wrap. There were blankets, too, but the men took them back with them.\r Backed into a corner, I protested quite loudly, and negotiated to lower the ransom to $1500 which I paid in cash. (Ideal obviously has had experience with disgruntled customers who direct their credit card companies not to honor the charges.)\r I had previously thought that this type of hostage-taking was restricted to terrorists and organized crime. Now I know better.\r more

You will want them to move you...\r \r \r After my first move from Miami to New York City, during which I used movers, I was very disappointed with the whole industry. I therefore moved from SC to FL myself with multiple U-Haul Trailers. This was a very tiresome and long experience.\r \r My most recent move was from New York City to Atlanta and I went with Ideal Moving & Storage Inc. \r \r Admittedly, I was sceptical at first; however the entire experience has been very eye opening and positive. \r \r Their quote over the phone was a bit off (probably due to the fact that I have a ridiculous amount of Chachke). I dealt directly with JC and she was at all-time extremely professional, helpful and available.\r \r The Pickup: Feb 1st 2013\r \r The three man team was late by only 20 minutes but they made up the time in loading everything carefully and efficiently. The team was courteous and willing to help pack the last few items. \r \r The team leader contacted the delivery driver directly in front of me to confirm the date of delivery Feb 5th 2013\r \r En route: Feb 4th 2013\r \r I received a phone call directly from the driver stating that he would be there in the afternoon between 1pm and 2pm. He told me that the balance would have to be paid in terms of money order or cash. However, I had already discussed using a Cashier's Check with the office previously. \r \r Again, not a problem. She called the driver and it was all taken care of.\r \r Delivery: Feb 5th 2013\r \r At noon, the driver contacted me that he was an hour away. \r \r All items were delivered carefully and efficiently.\r \r I have just finished unpacking and so far I do not see ANY thing damaged. Quite impressive.\r \r I did have to pay an additional Long Carry charge on delivery. However, once I saw the distance we had to walk from the elevator, I would have charged myself that!\r \r Overall:\r \r Extremely professional moving company for a reasonable rate. \r \r I will likely be moving again in two years and hope that they are still around. I have already recommended four other people to use their services.\r \r Thank you all.\r more

STAY AWAY FROM IDEAL MOVING & STORAGE, Jacque Cole and Jacob were nice before the move but my move quickly turned into a nightmare> Ten boxes of personal stuff lost, thirteen days late and over $2,700 worth of damage and I was offered $79 as compensation.\r Domingo\r \r more

Absolutely disgraceful. They were so nice and pleasant when I called. Then they picked up my stuff in New York and had failed to check that there was a street festival on something they admitted they should have known. They charged me extra for the walk then doubled my quote. Despite giving me a guarantee that my stuff would arrive over a 4 day window they then denied it when it was delayed. And they only told me they didn't deliver on weekends the day it was supposed to arrive. The estimate was $1070 and they charged me $2100. Plus I had to pay for a hotel because they had my bed and furniture. Just atrocious. more

You can be proud of your company because the team you sent was a pleasure to work with. They were a very experienced and conscientious group who worked with extreme speed and expertise. They were gracious and considerate. There was absolutely no overcharge or hidden expenses. And, everything arrived intact. In fact, some minor repairs were made where there were loose hinges and screws!\r \r The move was made effortless and stressless for me and I would only give you the highest recommendation. In addition to my moving day experience I must also compliment your very competent efforts arranging the move and advising me prior to the move. more

What can I say- spoke to ideal among other moving comonaies, but decided to go with some smack who did not show up on move date nor the next day- they were not equipped to do a small job and yet they claim they are moving professional company- good pitch but pissed me the hell off for not showing up. Thankfully I had all the mover emails still floating around, and called the same movers in desperations. They all said yes immediately- well I hang up, not ready to be fooled twice. I spoke to Jacque, she did not do the silly customer sales man speech of we will be there- she instead said, will find out if we can accommodate you- “she had me at we check first” . She called back and said working on it and to give her 10minutes. Well 25 minutes later- they were able to add me to the schedule. I just got all my stuff in their Pink truck at the most reasonable price. Wish I had not wasted my time and listened to the horror story sales pitch. A business is worth a million dollars if their employees remain professional and sincere. I love this lady and we just met. NYC if you need movers, please call Jacque @ Ideal and listen to what she has to say first, she definitely did right by me. Last minute too. more

I was moving about 10 miles away and I must have called 5 different moving companies to get quotes, every called made my anxiety level go up, I hate moving! When I called Ideal (which should have been my first call, not my 5th), the lady who answered the phone made me feel SO MUCH BETTER! I had lived in the same apartment for 10 years, so I forgot what a task it would be to move. She gave me some advice that would make it easier, plus they were the lowest price, hey $100 bucks, is $100 bucks! Anyway, when the movers came, they wrapped up my stuff, and fit everything in to one load. When I was carrying boxes, the movers said 'let me help you with that' and carried those boxes too. Everything was moved without a hitch, it only took a few hours, when I was expecting all day. I don't know why I was so worked up about moving, either it really can be that easy, or the Ideal movers made it seem easy. So, I'm going to recommend to all of my friends to use Ideal. I would like to thank Ideal Moving for all of the professional help that they provided towards myself as well as my family. At the time of my move from Brooklyn, NY, my family and I were going through financial problems due to my mother being in the hospital. I had to relocate to Atlanta, GA due to this situation on limited money. When Lisa contacted me, they were very willing to work with me and my financial situation. On the day of my move, the workers were terrific! They were very polite and handled all of my items with care, they even went out of their way to help me with a few things around the house that needed to be packed. Overall I would recommend Ideal Moving to anyone that will be moving if they are looking for a company that is not a fraud and is willing to work with you. Thank you again... You Guys are GREAT more

Moving is a stressful thing... Whether it's packing, organizing, or discovering stuff you didn't know you owned (and questioning why you are in possession of it), it's serious business. All jokes aside, who wants to do heavy lifting of unbalanced objects when you're already putting in 8 hours a week in the gym? Leave the back breaking stuff to the pros! For our prior move, after having organized & packed all of our belongings, the difficult part of moving boxes up and down 3 flights, renting a van, purchasing liability and property damage insurance, and refueling the rental vehicle made the entire process a nightmare. Luckily, hiring Ideal Moving for our most recent move resolved most of these issues as the moving & shipping of our personal belongings would be rendered their responsibility. After calling Ideal Moving, I was introduced to a Relocation Consultant named Jay. Jay was extremely instrumental in organizing the details of our move. His thoroughly detailed questioning ranging from # of stairs per flight in the building, # of objects moved, moving locations, and approximate room size of moved items helped with accurately computing a highly competitive quotation. The best part about the discussion with Jay was that there was no pressure to immediately finalize the offered quotation. Jay was also highly informative of their limits of insurance offered for any property damages observed during the move (to both the moving facilities and personal possession items). Furthermore, Jay's rundown of how the move was going to take place outlined his knowledge of the operation. His extensive display of professionalism made the decision to go with Ideal Moving an easy one. From the 4 business days leading up to the move, Jay was in frequent contact to finalize the exact # of items transported as well as my decision on the preferred form of payment. The constant follow- ups made for a smooth moving experience. In many ways, the client relationship and frequent follow ups conducted by Jay renders praise of Ideal’s business model in serving the needs of the customer in going above and beyond what's required. Moving day arrived and the movers showed up on time. Both of the movers were extremely professional with their introductions, instructions on paper work provided, and how the moving process would proceed. The movers possessed all of the moving accessories ranging from dollies, packing tape, blankets, and plastic covers for mattresses. The movers took no more than 3 hours to remove all objects from our location and onto the moving truck. This is generally unheard of, and speaks volumes regarding the movers' expertise and experience. Although the transition was slightly delayed, the movers were in frequent contact to inform me of their location. I received 4 calls during the transition period informing me of their status. Once arriving at the new location, the movers were quick to transport all objects from the moving truck into the new abode. Furthermore, the movers replaced the bed frame, box spring, and mattress in its original form. The entire moving in process took no more than 1 hour. Needless to say, a hefty tip was rendered to both the movers for their excise level of communication and courtesy rendered towards our personal possessions. I am certain I will move again within the next 2 to 3 years. If so, I'll definitely calling Jay at Ideal Moving again. The ease of using their service made the move better than I could have ever imagined more

I had dozens of moving companies calling me to help me with my move. Sadly to say, my spirit was not connecting with any of the companies that have called me...I was just about to give up until the last call I answered, it was Ideal Moving & Storage......What an EXCELLENT moving company.\r My sales Rep. was Jacky and she was very honest about EVERYTHING I mean after taking my inventory she studied the list of items and assisted me with everything that I needed to know regarding the nature and scope of my move. Very helpful, and what a personality! After talking with her for a while I realized that she was not only here to help me with my move but, she cared as well.\r Jacky and her co-workers Robert David and Jose really assisted me...I mean being there for me before, during and after the move as she promised during our initial conversation.\r Overall, the actual move and the movers were GREAT! I'm talking about fast, friendly and I must admit very, very PROFESSIONAL...\r They got the job done and I was truly pleased with the services that they provided me.\r The only thing... well, I wish I would have had enough money to tip the guys a little more...Other than that, I have no complaints. After loading their truck they told me the new price would be $3.181.00. When I tried to talk to the supervisor of the crew he said if I didn't agree to that amount that he would unload his truck and charge me per hour per man. After being backed in a corner I had no choice but to agree. In addition, I overheard the supervisor arguing with 1 of his movers refusing to pay him for the day. Upon delivery I had damaged furniture including my china cabinet, desk, coffee table, couch, Dresser drawer, and bookshelf. I had some shattered items in my boxes when unpacking and a box with 2 DVD players was not delivered. The delivery crew also tried to shake me down for another $75 on delivery. This was an absolutely horrible experience with a very rude and unprofessional company. more

We paid over 10k for our last move 2 years ago from Maine to Texas with Allied Van Lines and that was our priciest move yet and the worst of all. Numerous damages (too many to list) terrible customer service, and we had to wait almost a month to received our goods. We have had a few decent movers as far as quality of work, but they also charged us additional which left a bitter taste in our mouths. This last move was a big one and we tossed around the idea of doing it ourselves with rental trucks, but none of the rental truck companies i.e. Budget, U-Haul, Ryder, or Penske offered a truck large enough o accommodate our goods, 15,000 lbs. give or take. Plus we did not want to do any packing which is the main reason we've hired moving companies all along. My husband’s co-worker gave us Ideal Moving and Storage services number because they had moved him from New York to Texas several months back and we called them for an estimate. We spoke with Jacky who was very warm and knew everything there was to know and left us with no questions. We came up with a date and he came up with a price including the packing and we booked them. When the move date came, Josh, Nino and Tom came and we can't stress enough how terrific and hardworking these guys are. From the pickup time there were 3 days until unload. We have just finished unpacking our last few boxes and were amazed that there were no damages at all. We obviously move a lot and will be moving again within the next few years and hope that Ian and his guys are available, but if not, we are sure all their movers are great. Thanks for the hard work.
