Free Classes! 6/1/2012

I try and buy local to help our local economy. I was expecting to pay a bit more for my Nikon DSLR, but was shocked to see it cheaper than Amazon! Not only that but they included a free 2 night class, which really made a difference. My husband and I learned tons. They also mentioned they have free classes that are open to the public on Saturdays, will definitely be checking those out. more

HORRIBLE SERVICE! 5/30/2012

Went to get a point and shoot Cannon before vacation and wanted to "buy local" so went here. Clerk talked me into a Fuji, it stopped working in 3 days. Store WILL NOT take it back, insinuated it was my fault, and said I would have to wait a few weeks for them to send it to Fuji and fix it under their warrantee. I (and you!) should have bought from Costco or Best Buy, they are cheaper and much better service!! more

Not sure . . . 1/21/2011

Good: I truly appreciated the way the manager worked with me since my gift card had been misplaced. Staff and manager were willing to help me from the moment I called. Fantastic!. Bad: I felt rushed through with the salesman that was assisting me and that not all of my questions were answered. Plus, I filled out the information for upcoming classes for the next month and someone dropped the ball, since I didn't get information about a class until after I called and inquired.. Improvements: Salespeople who want to make sure you understand the camera you're looking at and also show you a variety of other cameras and their features.. Other: My husband and I chose Idaho Camera because we believe in supporting local businesses. However, we're not sure if we'd purchase from there again.. more

Knowledgeable, if you get the right person. 2/26/2010

I went into Idaho's Camera for some batteries and film yesterday. There were 3 or 4 employees working and after about 1 minute I was approached for help. The girl working found the batteries (which were marked up about 60%) I then asked if any Ilford film was in stock, which of course isn't carried. As I was leaving, one of the girls working audibly mumbled something under their breath about me ( which I don't care to share.) Its a pity that no real camera stores are left in Idaho's. In the future, I'll take my business online, or wait until I visit another city to do my photo-related shopping, and would recommend that you do as well. more

Staff Knows their Stuff 12/28/2005

I was so impressed with the knowledge of salesmen at Idaho Camera that I ended up buying a camera from them. After shopping at various electronic stores for weeks for a camera I went there and they let me try each camera that fit into my budget. They showed me all the features and which features were better on certain models. They also showed me various extras I might need and sold me a nice camera bag also. more

Expensive Camera Shop 8/20/2005

Idaho Camera has been around in Boise for a long time. While their staff is typically knowledgeable, their selection is poor, and they are extremely overpriced. With many bigger electronic retail chains coming to Boise, Idaho Camera needs to find a way to lower their prices if they want to stay competitive. As it is, customers go to their store to ask questions and look around, but then go elsewhere to purchase to get a better deal. more
