Ice Cream Renaissance is a great place to go for a unique ice cream experience. The small restaurant nestled in downtown Vancouver and is perfect after a movie (they're open fairly late- 11pm, I believe). What I love about it is you definitely get the local, family-owned feel.
They have less than a dozen different flavors, but all sorts of sundae and dessert combinations. My favorite is the ice cream sandwich, made with a homemade choc. chip cookie and your choice of ice cream.
In general, the restaurant is just fun. Many nights they have live music (the restaurant is small, though, so all seats are "front row"). They have fun, colored glasses and dishes and have a unique style- for instance, you never know what kind of a "mint" you'll get with your bill- a robin's egg, jelly bean, etc.
