My friend went there for a state vehicle inspection today. Supposed to be $30 max. They handed her a bill for $81, said they had to replace the windshield wipers. They didn't show her the old wiper blades and why they flunked the inspection. Their wipers are about $25 each. They didn't ask her if she could afford $25 Michelin wiper blades. They didn't offer to put the inspection on hold while she found some affordable wiper blades.\r I had to drive up there to bail her out with my credit card. She was tearful. more

Highly overpriced. Shop around before going here, you will find more reasonably priced shops that are just as good. As a matter of fact there is a better shop just a few buildings down from here. They charge at least triple the price on parts. Found out I could have saved a lot of money after using them. Don't accept the price they quote you without shopping around, you will see the difference. more

Avoid. They are almost twice as expensive as their competitors. I have used them several times and the last two times I've gone I've been gouged. Seem like great guys but they will take advantage of you. Fool me twice, shame on me. more

I've taken my car there twice. They try to upsell you everything. I was charged $131 to replace a fuse. Pros: Fixed my car Cons: Way too expensive more

Summerfield Auto Repair is AMAZING! 8/22/2009

I have been going to Summerfield auto for a couple of years now for everything from breaks to an oil change. I have never been dissatisfied and I never feel forced to make a repair that is not yet necessary. I recently had a sqeeking issue coming from my rear suspension area. After taking my car to carmax (where I bought it) and getting the run-around, I took it to Trent at Summerfield. Keep in mind that the repairs at carmax were going to cost over $1000. Trent put my car in the air, shook the car to make the noise appear and went to get a stethoscope with a special attachment for finding the source of a noise. Another tech pulled up and down on the car again, making the noise. Trent went to get a bolt gun, took off 2 bolts, removed a bar and then bent a piece of metal back in place. He replaced the bar and bolts and the noise was gone! FIVE MINUTES vs. an overnight stay at carmax and my car was fixed! And it definitely didn't cost $1000!!! Just the type of great service I've come to more

I trust this shop 5/14/2009

I trust this auto repair shop to do a good job at a fair price. The mechanics seem to be very skilled and able to fix problems other shops miss. They usually can get your car right in also. more

Good service for the money 4/5/2009

Summerfield provides good customer service for the money. They do not try to sell you more than what you need for your car so you don't feel like you have been taken advantage of. Rozelle is very good at fixing cars. more

wow !!!! 9/24/2008

I recently moved here from the Tampa area. I had a mechanic that I used for years, and was not sure that I would find that same up here outside of a dealership. I was referred to Summerfield?s by a friend, and I am truly pleased. They came and picked up my car at no extra charge to find out why it was cutting off. After a couple hours Tim called me back with the results of there testing and said that a major repair was not needed, just some minor work. His detailed explanations and professionalism, really made me feel comfortable, like I have been going there for years. After he gave me my estimate and finished the work, Trent arranged to have the car brought the car back to my place of work. I felt the price was very reasonable; they even have a car wash and detail service. I have never experienced this kind of service, I am truly happy with my new mechanics. more

Excellent work!!! 8/22/2008

I have 3 vehicles and whenever they need work done, I take them to Summerfield on Cama. A neighbor referred me to them and I do not take my cars anywhere else. Tim and Trent are great guys to deal with and friendly! Most recently, I brought one of my cars in to get it worked on and I new it was going to be a problem, but they took care of it. more

A place of integrity and quality 2/28/2008

Summerfiled has outstaniding customer service. I recently took my car to their Waxhax, NC location for service and new tires. Doug, the location manager was very informative on different types of tires. He assisted me as a customer to make the right buying decision taking into consideration on what was right for me financially. I needed several types of repairs and with today's economy told me what was priority to make my car safe for my son and myself. He did not sell me on price. He sold me on integrity. That matters!!!!!! I wll use Summerfield Automotive from now on. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Being a single mom is hard enough at least now I know I have an auto repair shop on my side. Pros: Friendly and knowledgeable staff more

A place I will do business with again and again, and yet again 2/3/2008

I love this place, they came and picked up my car again, did 2 tires and an oil change by noon. Priced fairly, on time and courteous, their driver Ronnie is great, one of the best people I have meet. Thanks Tim for all you do, keep it going. Pros: service is second to none more

Being Honest is not Unethical Posted on 01/31/2008 \r Car was towed in with a engine noise complaint. Technicians found a thick sludge build up on the dipstick and in the crankcase. This sludge indicated that the car hadn't received regular maintenance. She had used us before, but it was only once the month before and it was for a coolant sensor repair. So we had no other knowledge of her history. She also forgot to mention the speedometer didn?t work so true mileage is unknown. We attempted to remove the sludge build up, but it was not enough to restore oil press. Even a properly working oil pump would not pick up thick sludge.( it would be like sucking mud through a straw.) As a company we have to be able to stand behind any repairs we perform, and having our customers spend their money on a repair that may or may not repair their car is not our practice. She asked about selling the car so her info was passed to Mr.Poolyear. He owns a car lot and he made the offer.We do not buy or s more

This Company Unethical 1/26/2008

I took my car into Summerfield's around last March -- I actually had to have it towed in to them. I had used them for some other small work, as had my sister, and thought they seemed pretty good. To make a long story short they told me my engine in my VW Beetle was "gone" and needed to be replace. Shortly thereafter, while I was trying to decide what to tdo they offered me $750 for my car, my car with a good engine is worth about $8000. Since the car was just out of warranty (109,000miles), I decided to fight with VW about it before making any decisions. I had the car towed back to my house. more

Loyal Customer moving on - Fast..... 4/18/2007

I have used Summerfield for years and have recommended them to many friends. I've also been happy until yesterday. Being a loyal customer, I had taken my car there because of an oil leak. Diagnosis - I need a new Oil Pump; along with the routine oil change and inspection, my quote came to $830. I don't know a thing about cars, so I am lucky enough to have coworkers to assist me in this- First thing that seemed odd was one of them just had the same work performed there a few months ago (via my referral) and he only paid $500..... We quickly called two DEALERSHIPS (Toyota) and both were half the cost of Summerfield. When I can get the work done at the Dealership for half the cost (Total $427) , that says something about how Summerfield is trying to take advantage of the situation and grossly overcharge.... This is why I am moving on and Summerfield has lost a loyal customer - and the individuals I have referred, will be leaving as well.. Pros: For me, location convenience. Cons: $$$$ Prices $$$$ more

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I JUST LIKE TO LET EVERYBODY KNOW THAT THERE IS A GREAT PLACE TO GET YOUR CAR OR TRUCK WORKED ON IN THE MECK. AND UNION COUNTY AREA. WHEN I VISITED THE WAXHAW LOCATION, I KNEW I FOUND AN EXCELLANT SHOP TO GET ALL MY SERVICE DONE. THEY WERE POLITE AND YOU CAN TELL THEY HAVE BEEN IN THE REPAIR BUISINESS FOR A LONG TIME. THEY EASED MY FEARS BY LOOKING AT MY CAR AND GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF REPAIRS BE FORE ANY WORK WAS DONE. THAT WAS A GREAT PLUS BECAUSE I AM USE TO GETTING THE OLD 5 O' CLOCK SURPRIZE, WERE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE AT THERE MERCY. I TELL ALL MY FREINDS TO GO THERE AND NOW I AM TELLING THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! A Real Let Down 11/28/2005

Prices were not competitive but they explained it was because of the better-than-average service. The folks at the shop were kind but we've had nothing but problems with the work they did - Including two different shops commenting on the cheap parts used and poor quality of the workmanship. more
