THE ALMIGHTY QUEEN OF PETS 10/29/2010

I'm a disabled veteran of the USAF. I had my eye on a small breed dog on the SAHS website since 10/17/2010. I went out to visit with her this past Wed., yesterday, and today. I spent a total of 9 hours with her and was told that MS. CYNTHIA said that she couldn't hold the dog until Monday.....3 damn days! I offered to pay the total cost of having this paticular dog's shelter and medical care expenses. How about it MS. CYNTHIA? I think that you should be placed in an animal cage and spend 9 hours with someone you love and then be adopted by someone else that you didn't love or didn't want to go home with! You, MS. CYNTHIA, are the ALMIGHTY QUEEN OF PETS who are just out to get the ALMIGHTY DOLLAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! I use to donate money to the Denver Humane Society because they give a shit about who they adopt to and do not look for the ALMIGHTY DOLLAR. You do not give a damn about handicapped people. We, handicapped people are probably the best animal lovers who can afford to pay vet bills, who has the capability to love an animal more than most people can!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Animal Shelter 12/19/2005

The Humane society of Bexar County is a great place to go to get a new pet. They have both cats and dogs of all breeds and sizes. Some are full grown and others are just kittens and puppies. They let you take the dogs for a walk or take them into small rooms to just play with them and spend a little time helping you decide. The staff there is very friendly and helpful. You can adopt an animal for a reasonable price. more

Looking for a new pet 8/12/2005

Adopt one that needs a new home. When walking into this spacious facility, I was surprised at how pleasant it seemed. The animals seemed well taken care of and well cared for. The facility also didn't smell as badly as most animal rescue facilities I've been to. The volunteers request that you spend a lot of time with the animal you will be adopting and there is an adoption application that must be approved before you can take your pet home. At peak times there is a significant wait for an adoption to discuss your adoption application. All pets are required to be neutered or spayed before coming home with you. more

  • The San Antonio Humane Society is a non-profit, no-kill organization that has served Bexar County and its surrounding areas since 1952. We are not affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA. Every year, the San Antonio Humane Society shelters, medically treats, and rehabilitates more than 5,500 animals that have been injured, abused, or abandoned until they are ready for adoption. As an adoption guarantee organization, the shelter only euthanizes animals that we are unable to treat, have a condition that poses a significant threat to the other animals in the shelter or that have aggression issues. Through our adoption, volunteer, foster care, and educational programs we educate the public on the importance of responsible pet ownership, micro-chipping and spaying/neutering. In the near future, we plan to expand our ability to aid homeless pets by adding a shelter medicine hospital to our campus.

Our mission is to protect and improve the lives of dogs and cats by providing shelter, care, adoption, rescue, spay and neuter programs, and community education.
