Don't bother 6/18/2009

I brought my 2 and 4 year old. We walked around, asked if there was anything else, repeated that, then asked for our money back. On their web page it said there was a children's museum there - I definitely would not call it a children's museum. A children's craft area, but not a museum. Pros: Can't think of any Cons: Not much there to do more

  • Overview
This playful annex to Gwinnett County's Hudgens Center for the Arts encourages children to enjoy art for art's sake. That means interactive everything: a ceramic studio, puppet theater, black-box theater, hands-on exhibitions, kiosks and kaleidoscopes. A busy gift shop features several fun touches, including the back of a real school bus, a 14-foot giraffe sculpture, toys, puppets and an electric train. The 20,000-square-foot building also houses exhibition space and art classrooms. Glass, metal, earthy tones and airy spaces give the interior a natural look, but splashes of color such as the purple-and-white checkerboard floor remind you that you're not at the High Museum.

    The Experience
The museum primarily exists to entertain schoolchildren on field trips. However, the general public can see the same exhibitions from 1pm to 5pm during the week and from 10am to 3pm on Saturday. Children can join the resident arts club, Artbugs, and receive free admission.
