Excellent Spanish Coffee! Great friendly service here & I love the atmosphere here. I stop for HH here whenever possible. Good food, nostalgic original Portland venue!!

It's been difficult to find a nightspot that's geered to the dressy late 20's and 30's crowd. For those tired of the all black-local band-local beer scene, here's a bar and restau...

Always a good place for food or drink! 11/21/2006

Huber's has been consistently a great place to stop at for drinks and/or food. If you like Spanish Coffees, Huber's is well known for their entertaining Spanish Coffee show. If you like the more fruity drinks, I really like the Ginger's Nectar. This place is always packed full of people and it brings a very diverse group. It is VERY loud in the bar, so I wouldn't recommend the bar if you want to have some quality talking time!!! The comfort food is also really good. I love the turkey and ham plate. Huber's is a permanent spot on my bar list. Pros: Spanish Coffees, Food, People Watching Cons: crowded, loud more

Best spanish coffee 11/9/2006

Huber's has great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. The only down side is it can get quite crowded on the weekends and after Blazer games so come early or call ahead. Definitely must try the spanish coffee. It's as much of a show as a drink but be careful it's potent! Pros: service, ambience more

Great customer service 11/9/2006

I go to hubers every weekend. The service is great. April, Jazzmine,Jenny and Brad always give great service. Tony the manager is the best. I love the staff and the food. Couldn't be more pleased everytime I go into Hubers. Pros: service Cons: parking more

Great eye candy 10/15/2006

I went to Hubers on a Friday night about 10pm the place was packed with beautiful people. Was lucky enough to get a spot at the bar along two other beautiful women surrounded by nice men. Had great drinks, conversation as it was mature crowd but lot of fun. I would recommed this place to anyone who likes good drinks, conversation and a diverse crowd. Pros: nice crowd of diverse people Cons: parking more

Spanish Coffee and Turkey Dinner 6/12/2006

Ok. So, I've eaten alot of food in my lifetime. But when you want something that you know is good, and you will always enjoy, go to Huber's for the turkey dinner. It's fabulous with all the fixings. And, if you're going to go to Huber's, you have to delight in a Spanish Coffee as well. It's fun and entertaining when they make it in front of you, and it's delicious. Enjoy Huber's, don't wait another minute, go! Pros: Food, atmosphere, entertainment more

Outstanding food and service 5/28/2006

We seldom come to town but like to check out different spots each time. The past Sunday was Huber's. We had a drink in the lounge before our meal. It was a a lovely, romantic lounge and we enjoyed the bartenders creating the signature spanish coffees (quite a show) and I had a chance to read part of the article about the lounge in the Sunday Oregonian. On to the food--we went to the restaurant and I was pleased that as busy as the place was, we had excellent service. If there was anything to be disappointed about it was the crab cakes (rather bland) but everything else was outstanding. A nice selection of fresh seafood and steaks were appreciated. The prices were affordable too. We will be returning next weekend!! Pros: Service, Ambiance, Food Cons: Crab Cakes more

Horrible Service 5/26/2006

Thought a friend and I would try the famous Spanish Coffee after a long week of work around 3:30pm on a Friday. Nice atmosphere. Horrible service in the bar. After reading a ""Seat Yourself"" sign we did, but to our astonishment finding two servers and one bartender completely ignoring us. Sat for 15 minutes with no contact from any employee. The bar was very slow at the time so there was no excuse. So we decided to walk. If there is one thing I'm picky about it's the first initial contact. If I don't get any acknowledge within 5 minutes it pisses me off. If it's busy even a 'be with you shortly"" and if it's slow these is NO EXCUSE! I will give Hubers another chance. I'd like to think I caught the service staff on an ""OFF DAY"". more

My favorite spot in Portland - hands down 3/22/2006

I love this place,..it is the classiest bar I've found yet. It's dark wood, stained glass ceilings, with vintage cash registers and fans. When I step in Hubers, I feel like I've traveled back about 150 years. The ambiance isn't the only thing the restaurant has going for it, the Spanish coffees are amazing (and strong), and happy hour is great,..$2 food. There is usually great people-watching and conversation to round out the night! Pros: classy, friendly crowd, great drinks more

A Favorite Portland HAUNTED? 5/20/2005

Whenever were in Portland we always make it a point to stop by Huber's and have a Turkey dinner. We love the dark atmosphere at night, yet it is fun enough for our 2 year old daughter. I wouldn't be surprised if Huber's is HAUNTED it is that cool Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Service Cons: no memoribilia/t-shir, parking, Hostess more

Excellent Place for our Group! 5/19/2005

We have had two separate occasions to bring larger sized groups for an event at Huber's. One of our groups had 25 people, the other 15. Both instances our service was impeccable, the food was excellent, and the value very good. more

Pleasantly FULL 5/5/2005

If you start with the Spanish Coffee the evening will become a little more fun (( a stimulant and a couple drepressants in one drink? Nice!)! My pepper steak was tender and HOT - nice departure from the normally ""room temperature"" of most places - and very tasty. Crisp veggies and smooth mashed spuds, all with an interesting gravy that added to the meal. My brides turkey/ham plate was tasty, tender and filling, with the same side dishes. The bar's ambience is - well - comfortable and as we ate just after 5PM, untill 6, on a Friday the area was about 90% full. Non instrusive music, nice spacing and the very HIGH ceiling made the picture complete. The wait staff was quick and courteous. Will go back for lunch on next trip... very enjoyable!! Pros: service, food, ambience (bar) Cons: restroom location more

Stay Away! 12/27/2004

This place was awful! Our food was overcooked and overpriced and I was seriously disapointed in everything from the atmosphere to the service. I would never come here again and recommend for anyone else to stay away. We had appetizers (burnt), main course (dry and unflavorful) and then a horrible dessert. Some of the worst food I have had in my life. Cons: , Atmosphere, Menu more

Salad was a disaster 12/3/2004

Had lunch at Hubers yesterday. Unfortunately I ordered the Greek Salad which was a complete disaster. No resemblance to a Greek Salad at all - cardboard canned olives instead of Kalamata olives, some kind of honey/mustard dressing, instead of oil/spice/vinegar, lots of lettuce and almost no olives. I pointed this out to the waiter and he agreed 100% - said it was very americanized. However, service was excellent, and ambiance is pleasant. Good beer on tap. more

Drinks to die for 11/26/2004

I LOVE Hubers. They have the best Spanish coffee's on the planet!!!! Their appitisers are mouth watering. You can't go wrong by starting you evening out here. The lunch menu is good as well, but the drinks and atmosphere are the biggest benifits to Hubers. Pros: Quality more

Fun place if you love crowds and noise. 6/9/2004

It didn't bother us, though I think our 6-year old was overwhelmed by the above. The food was good, hearty fare -- the kind you'd expect in an American restaurant. We had the turkey dinner with crab cake appetizer, all delicious. The martinis were pretty good, too. The server was friendly and extremely competent navigating the chaotic and cramped dining area. We're glad we went but if we return we'll try it on a quieter night, if possible, due to our son's young age. And yes, the spanish coffee presentation is not to be missed. :) Pros: near hotels, good food, good service Cons: , overcrowding more

""Spanish Coffee and Turkey"" 5/3/2004

The atmosphere is the 'best', the crowd is cool,- the place is awash in Kahlua and the Turkey is tops. I mean man if you like Turkey - this is it! Pros: Parking across street, Great Magician, Spanish Coffee Cons: Get there early more

Two words: Spanish Coffee 4/1/2003

There is nothing like wrapping up a night on the town with a tantalizing Spanish Coffee. If Huber's served nothing else, this would be enough. The preparation is an art, and the taste is divine! One of my favorite last-stops in downtown. more
