I bought my first vacation home, a condo in OC, MD. We spared no expense and remodeled with new carpet, new cabinets, granite counters, custom made beach furniture, paint, and then the problem, the ceramic flooring bought and to be installed by homeworks carpet one in OC, MD. I give them a key to the condo to do the work in my absense. I get a call the floors done and I drive my 4hrs to see it. At 1st sight the floor was gorgeous, then I noticed a spot on the grout, when I scooped it up with my finger nail, the grout powdered away like sand. I started checking and the entire floor was powdering away at the touch. I called, they said they needed to saturate my floor to make it set. Nope, still powdering, then the nightmare begins. the same tech comes out to remove the old grout and install a new product. Only he just removed part of the old grout and applied the new grout over old grout and we now have two colors and guess what? Yep, you guessed it, its still powdering away. I ask for some type of compensation, I'm told my email would be forwarded to the owner, weeks go by, no contact from him. Then They arrange to meet me and bring out a new installer and the 2nd grouts tech rep, he said two different products with the same problem, its the installer. So, the new installer, she walks around in dismay at the mess she has to fix. She says it will be time consuming and difficult to remove all the overlay of grout off the tile and to dig out all the existing tile to start over, a tedious job, but she would make it look good. I call and its finished and told its beautiful. I go out, WOW?? it's still powdering at the front entrance, solid in walkway and numerous tiles are chipped, the color is uneven and it looks terrible. I call and at this time they offer me $1825 cash back towards the $5000 I paid. At this point I wanted the floor redone from scratch, it was never about the money though I felt we were owed some compensation for all the issues and several attempts to get it right. I thought the $1825 would be nice had the 3rd grout job turned out ok. But now, they drop all communication and send me a one sentence email: quote: ""We have decided that your tile job has been installed according to industry standards""-unquote. I was appalled. Filed a complaint with the BBB and much to my surprise, they lied about some of the fact and told me, quote: we are removing all prior offers off the table""-unquote. They never did a final walk throug with us or they would see this floor is in terrible condition. I asked would they use my floor as a model or sample to intice sales? Next step, if no final resolution is met, it leaves me no choice but to file a Civil suit. Unbelievable, They are not standing by their satisfaction guaranteed or your floor replaced. In conclusion, this is the worst people I've ever dealt with. - Dissatisfied
