Great New Family Restaurant 1/30/2006

As parents of a two year old, my husband and I are always looking for a kid friendly place where grownups can enjoy a nice meal that doesn't include chicken fingers! That place is definitely Homefire Grill. The kid's meals are very healthy, what I would serve my child at home. Adults can enjoy a sophisticated menu of really great food. My top choice is the Homefire Cobb salad, the best in town! The ribs are perfectly tender and I just can't stop eating the bread bits. The staff is super friendly and the casual atmosphere makes us feel like at home. We've taken family and friends from out of town and everyone loves this place, no matter what they're craving they found it here. A great value for the pocket book too! more

HOMEFIRE is the Answer. 1/27/2006

Until Homefire opened, it was tough to find fast -casual food that is high quality and good-tasting. In a clean, comfortable, friendly-family atmosphere, Homefire offers a vast array of menu items to satisfy kid-age as well as more sophisticated cravings. My personal favorite dish is the California Chicken Avocado Pizza. While at first we needed help with the concept of "low maintenance table service," it won me over in the end. (It really seems to keep the overall bill within a reasonable price range, and it gives the place a more casual feel.) Now, I just wish we had something like this on the east coast! (Are any Homefire people reading this?) more

Homefire...something different 1/27/2006

My wife and I don't usually go to 'partial service' type places, but we were in the area, and thought we wouild try Homefire. We were very pleasantly surprised--excellent service, the staff was great at explaining the menu and how the service would work; great food, lots of options all well prepared; nice environment, event though you are getting your own drinks, the place has a stepped up feel to it. We would definitely go back. more

Outstanding food, great value! 1/26/2006

My family and I went here not knowing exactly what to expect, but the staff was super helpful in explaining exactly how to order off the menu. The salads were as good as Sammy's, if not better, and the tri-tip sandwich ROCKED. My kids devoured their burger and pizza, and we all split some kind of amazing chocolate dessert. Now we have to go back to try out the ribs... more

San Diego has a few different options for restaurants similar to this one and this is the last one I would choose. Food is served family-style here, but you're responsible for getting everything else besides food for yourself. The food doesn't taste all that great. The employees didn't seem to care about the customers one way or the other. The food cost way too much for the quality and service. more

nice Family Style Restaurant 8/18/2005

This was an interesting restaurant - it's unique aspect is that everything is served 'family style" where you sit down and they bring large platters of whatever you order, intended for sharing. I went and had a suasage pasta, which was decent, but I think a bit pricey. Also a bit of a strange atmosphere, the servers bring your food, but you are expected to get your own plates, drinks, etc, from the counter - not that it is a problem, but it was never dictated to us, and so we sat there clueless for a while! more

Nice portions, decent food 8/14/2005

I waited for Homefire Grill to open for a couple of months. When it did open I was anxious to try out the food. It is fairly inexpensive and the portions are quite large. The food itself is decent-nothing amazing, but definitely not bad. The way the restaurant is set up and run is fairly odd, but overall my dining experience was a positive one. I must admit, however, that I have not been back since my first visit. more
