Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden 2/27/2006

The Hirshhorn, known for its huge donut-shaped building, is located on the Smithsonian museum campus. As with all Smithsonian buildings, admission here is free. As one might be able to guess, you'll find more abstract painting and sculptures here than at some of the other galleries. While it's not my favorite, far fewer people come here to visit, which makes walking around exhibits much easier. There's not as much to see here as at the National Gallery, so I'd plan on spending maybe 1-2 hours if you're not a huge sculpture and 3-dimensional art fan. more

Great Art 11/19/2005

The Hirshhorn Museum is very interesting even from the outside. It is a circular building and once inside there are many great exhibits. In the basement there are usually traveling exhibits and chage frequently. There are many types of art here most of them being sculptures or actual items. There are not as many paintings here although there are a few. There is also an outside area with large sculptures that is fun to walk through. This museum doesn't take as long as some of the others to walk through so you may be able to do an additional muesum with this one. more
