Best

I will be honest, I don't exactly frequent the sushi joints. BUT... I do feel like it is my duty as an occasional restauranteur. My b/f took me here one night, we had a babysitte...

Worst

JUst awful. Service was ok, ambiance ok. Food wise, disgusting.. I ordered Sesame chicken, it came out to be a very dry and tastless chicken with peanut butter sauce and 3 seed...

I like the fresh food, hard immigrant worker and fun staff. But I think some of customers are low quality as they are very demanding, nasty and uneducated. more

I had heard that Hiro's was a must visit, so that is exactly what I did. I sat down at approximately 2PM with two friends. We ordered somewhere around 2:15, we watched two people sit down in the booth across from us. We waited until 2:50 to comment to the manager that we had not gotten our food - and I had noticed that couple that walked in and sat down across from us were almost done with their meal. \r \r Service sucked. Food was ehhh.. I would NOT recommend this restaurant. Way better sushi and chinese food at other local places. more

Sushi was worse we ever had... so far. I'm not sure if it was a freshness issue. The pieces of fish were small, the rolls large... Huge amount of rice compared to fish portion in the roll. It looked different than any other sushi rolls because of this. We did not eat most of it. Most disappointing as we went there after it had a 4 star rating on a Google search site "urban spoon". I don't know if the quality has gone down or if employees and friends wrote the reviews. This is the 1st negative review I write... maybe they will improve but they have a long way to go to get a 4 star rating. They require improvement to get to a 2 star. Atmosphere (furniture) was a bit run down but good food can overcome this. The staff was good, quick, and efficient but we were there for the food. We gave the staff a tip 10% anyway as it not the server's fault. We won't give them a second chance. There are too many choices in North Miami / Aventura that are real 4 star! more

I LOVE HIRO's!!!! The atmosphere is great. The service is great. The bartender's are wonderful at what they do and are very attentive to your needs. I work as a taxi driver at night and when I'm done with my shift, I go to Hiro's to eat a little something (btw, the tuna tataki and the lobster are my favorites) and have some cold sake. Mario always knows what I want and how I like it. The owner is a wonderful woman who I admire and Terry, the manager, is beyond a class act. The guys behind the bar, Mario, Tony, and Hugo are terrific. I would highly suggest to go in and see them -- they will make you smile. And of course the menu -- you cannot go wrong with anything you order on the menu. Everything they prepare is extremely fresh and I have never had a problem with the food coming slowly. I come from Ft. Lauderdale (30 minute drive) just for the people and the food. And they are open late so if I need a late night sushi fix and a cold sake -- I'm there. more

There is no other experience to compare, as Hiro's, is a unique Sushi bar experience, a dining room, and large comfortable sushi bar, within a very friendly attentive, atmosphere, and then there's the connected lounge, a very comfortable, subtle retro, well appointed bar, flat screens, with favorite sporting events, where you can eat at the bar, or tables and booths, serving drinks by experienced fun bartenders. I've been coming for years, for all the above, plus the consistency, of the, trusted, healthy quality, of the raw fish, and the freshness of the vegetables, a very reasonably priced, menu, with a variety of interesting selections, and lots of sushi. This is a well established, well managed business, and has always been an experience for people watching. The one's who have been coming for years and the constant flow of new faces, always a hot spot, with it's late 3 A.M. hours and service 365 days a year, great with the kids, bring the family, bring a date, maybe meet someone, I say enjoy the good food, and fun, I'm a hard customer to please, this place rolls a lot into one. My favorite. more

Hiro's is good and moderately priced, but pretty slow.\r \r Last night was my first visit - my Beef Tataki took 15-20 minutes to come out. I then ordered a rainbow roll it took another ten minutes to arrive. Shrimp fried rice and the bill each took ten minutes too.\r \r Despite all this - the service was friendly, and the food was really good. In fact - it looked so good that I forgot to take a picture of the dishes before diving in.\r \r Hiro's is open really late - good find, I am sure I will be back. more

This is by far my favorite sushi restaurant in Miami or Orlando. I judge all other sushi by Hiro's in freshness and price. I hope it stays open for a very very long time. more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 6/30/2009

This place is great foe the price. there sushiban tempura is amazing not to mention the great employees. One of my personal favorites is the salmon cc roll and the dragon roll amazing. If your a fan of sushi and tempura you should go here once here you should try dipping your sushi into tempura sauce instead of soy sauce. Overall I would rate this place 10. Out of 10 more

Very good, I can't complain. 6/3/2008

I will be honest, I don't exactly frequent the sushi joints. BUT... I do feel like it is my duty as an occasional restauranteur. My b/f took me here one night, we had a babysitter and just kinda showed up. While the CUSTOMERS were the ones that I found somewhat irritating (though that may have had something to do with the fact that when it comes to chopsticks I have no idea what I'm doing, I almost flung a shrimp tempura roll at some lady's head by accident; I can't even fake the funk-) I think the food/service was pretty good. We actually sat at the bar and our tender took our order, as I am not the chattiest of chatty people out there (except for writing but this is what I do anyway) I am more of an ""observer"" I did notice that once or twice I wanted to politely ask the bartender to stop making small talk, because it seemed to be getting in the way of our much cherished and short lived ""us-time"".\r I don't know much about Japanese/Sushi fare, but I had a variety of diferent rolls, and lemme tell ya, I am a picky eater but I LOVED almost every roll we ordered except the Volcano roll, to me it was too squishy aka cream cheesy aka very mushy in my mouth-or whatever you want to call it. Other than that, it was pretty frikkin' good. Give it a try! Pros: Open late night, great for after drinks eats, food is good. Cons: Can get crowded, loud. more
