Houston's You should be ashamed!!! 1/8/2010

We (2) arrived early 4:30 pm, Friday Jan 8th, 2010, and ate dinner at the bar, and over a 3 hour period ordered 3 drinks each (tab $136 plus tip) as we chatted with the persons next to us, nothing to call attention to us, if anything we were invisible...the bar became overcrowded and at 7:45 we were told by the manager we were cut off with no explanation nor cause, but with it 2 deep and seats were wanted I get it... We are semi regular customers...All I can say is WTF Houston's? When we stood up to leave, and mind you not drunk in word, nor action, nor conduct, the guy behind us said ""watch your alcohol consumption""...we declined a come back...this was so absurd we just wanted to leave. Q: what kind of bullshit is going on at Houstons? I get that it was busy, but to cut us off with no provocation seems like bad business. What a piece of crap manager gives the guy behind us that kind of blow job? Houston's You need a Reality Check!!!! Pros: can't say Cons: poor management /bartennder more

Best Crabcakes EVER!!!!!!!! 5/28/2008

We liked the atmosphere. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed cocktails while we waited for a table for dinner. We had a nice little nook. Romantic. The service was good. The food was wonderful. I've had some good crabcakes-- I am a big fan of them in general and try to find the best ones-- and I think I found the best ones here at Houston's. Even my boyfriend at the time, who is allergic to shellfish, couldn't resist and decided it was worth the risk of discomfort later. They were that good! Pros: Everything Cons: ? more

Terrible Service 11/21/2007

I have to say the food was good but the service was terrible. This is an average restaurant which thinks they are a four star restaurant. The staff was extremely rude. This is not my first negative experience at Houston's on Beltline and I will not go back. I have several business associates who have had similar experiences. The server never came back to check on us, refill our drinks or bring us the sauce we requested. On top of that we had to wait 15 minutes for our check. When the server did visit our table to take our order she could not have been more negative. This location is going downhill quickly and the establishment needs to recognize what kind of restaurant they really are....a step above Fridays not a top notch steak house. All of the fancy restaurants I have been to in town were much more accommodating and friendly than this ""average"" restaurant. It is unfortunate because they have decent food. Pros: Good food Cons: Terrible customer service more

Overall a good place to eat. 9/4/2007

The atmosphere is delightful. The menu is very good and the prices are not terrible. The wine list needs to be updated(ordered a glass and they said they didn't have that one anymore). We went on a holiday around 2pm. We had no wait, though the place seemed to be pretty much full. The outside seating area is nice. It is early September in Texas, and still hot, however the patio tables were covered by neat umbrellas that apparantly put off heat during the winter. The food was good. For appetizer we ordered some kind of cheesy bread. It was very good however could use a dipping sauce and also was a tad greasy. I ordered a hamburger(as I most almost always do) and fries. The hamburger was excellent (very juicy, a good size, and also cooked to perfection). The fries were shoestring and also very good. My girlfriend ordered a chicken salad of some sort(with a lot ordered on the side..which was done as asked), and she said it was wonderful. Both wines that we tried were excellent. Service was pretty good, however I asked for jalepenos ON my burger and they were put on the side and also brought after my meal had been delivered. And also a sauce was asked for and fogotten and had to be asked for twice. Overall a very good restauant with a good work staff. I will come back. Pros: Great food. Nice outside patio(but small). Good appearance of staff. Priced ok. Cons: Nothing really to say in this department. more

good food but very pretentious 7/27/2006

The food is good here, but this place takes itself entirely too seriously. The dress code is ridiculous and their ban on cell phones, which is rudely enforced, I might add, is not befitting a modern restaurant. This is, more or less, Bennigan's with low lighting and slightly better food. Vegetarians will find the veggie burger robust and satisfying much of the time. more

I think Houston's restaurant is a great place to bring a date for dinning. While you are waiting for you table you can hang out at the bar or you can order wines and sit outside near the outdoor fireplace. I have to say that setting melt my date's heart. Light was perfect at both the bar and the dinning area. Not to mention the food is excellent and the Price is reasonable. Ooh... If you are not entertained enough yet check out the restroom it has LCD screen displaying local channels and news. Ooooo...! Waitresses are so good looking and helpful. Pros: rmntic outdr fireplc, great bar, piano Cons: don't take reservatio, need mouth wash, need candles more
